• ஆப்கானிஸ்தானில் ஊரடங்கு
  • அமெரிக்கா கடந்த 2001-ம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் மாதம் போர் தொடுத்தது. இதில் அங்கு ஆட்சியிலிருந்தத லீபான்கள் விரட்டியடிக்கப்பட்டு, ஜனநாயக ஆட்சி கொண்டு வரப்பட்டது. ஆனாலும் அதே ஆண்டு தலீபான்களுக்கும், ஆப்கானிஸ்தான் அரசுக்கும் இடையே உள்நாட்டு போர் தொடங்கியது.
  • இந்த சூழலில் கடந்த 2020 பிப்ரவரி மாதம் தலீபான் பயங்கரவாத அமைப்புடன் அமெரிக்க அரசு வரலாற்று சிறப்புமிக்க ஒப்பந்தம் ஒன்றை ஏற்படுத்தியது.
  • இந்த ஒப்பந்தத்தில் உறுதியளித்தபடி ஆப்கானிஸ்தானில் இருந்து அமெரிக்கா தலைமையிலான நேட்டோபடைகள் வெளியேறிவருகின்றன.
  • கிட்டத்தட்ட 95 சதவீத படைகள் ஆப்கானிஸ்தானில் இருந்து வெளியேறிவிட்ட நிலையில், எஞ்சிய படைவீரர்கள் ஆகஸ்டு 31ந்தேதிக்குள் வெளியேறுவார்கள் எனஅறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • ஏற்கனவே நாட்டின் சரிபாதி பகுதியை தங்களின் கட்டுக்குள் வைத்துள்ள பயங்கரவாதிகள் முழு ஆப்கானிஸ்தானையும் கைப்பற்றும் நோக்கில் இந்ததாக்குதல்களை நடத்தி வருகின்றனர்.
  • கடந்த சில வாரங்களில் மட்டும் ஆப்கானிஸ்தானின் பல்வேறு நகரங்கள் மற்றும் அண்டை நாடுகளுடனான முக்கிய எல்லைப் பகுதிகளை தலீபான்கள் கைப்பற்றியுள்ளனர்.

  • ‘Sing, record national anthem’: PM Modi plays up ‘Rashtragaan’ portal ahead of Independence Day
  • The Centre has created an online portal for this purpose, the Prime Minister said, rashtragaan.in, where anyone can record and upload their own videos singing the national anthem.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged citizens to sing the national anthem on Independence Day, August 15, to create a “rashtra gaan” record. He said that it’s an effort on part of the Union ministry of culture to get the “maximum number of Indians” to sing the national anthem together.

  • கோழி இறைச்சி கழிவுகளில ;இருந்து பயோடீசலை தயாரித்த கேரள கால்நடை மருத்துவருக்கு அதற்கான காப்புரிமை வழங்கப்பட்டது.
  • கேரளத்தின் வயநாடு பகுதியை சேர்ந்த கால்நடை மருத்துவர் ஜான் ஆபிரஹாம் கோழி இறைச்சி கழிவுகளில் இருந்து பயோடீசல் தயாரிக்கும் முறையை கண்டறிந்தார்.
  • கோழி இறைச்சியில் கொழுப்புசத்து அதிகம் இருப்பதால் அதிலிருந்து பிரித்தெடுக்கப்படும் எண்ணெயைகொண்டு பயோடீசலை அவர் தயாரித்தார் அவர் தயாரித்த பயோடீசல் மூலமாக இயங்கும் வாகனங்கள் ஒரு லிட்டருக்கு 38 கிலோ மீட்டர் வரை சென்றன.
  • அதன் விலை தற்போது டீசல் விலையுடன் ஒப்பிடுகையில் வெறும் 40 சதவீதமாக மட்டுமே உள்ளது.
  • டீசல் மூலமாக ஏற்படும் சுற்றுச்சூழல் மாசுபாட்டை விட பயோடீசல் மூலமாக ஏற்படும் மாசுபாடு பாதி அளவுகுறைந்து காணப்பட்டது.
  • இந்த பயோடீசல் தயாரிக்கும் முறை காப்புரி மைகோரிஜான் ஆபிரகாம் 2014 ஆம் ஆண்டு விண்ணப்பித்தார்.

• Afghanistan imposes curfew across 31 provinces to limit Taliban advance
  • The Taliban have won a string of battlefield victories in recent weeks as the United States-led foreign forces are about to complete pull-out from Afghanistan after 20 years.
  • The armed group was removed from power in a US-led invasion in 2001 following the September 11 attacks on US soil, but it gradually regained strength, carrying out numerous attacks on foreign as well as Afghan forces in the past 20 years.
  • The armed group largely kept its promise not to target US security interests, it continued to carry out deadly attacks against Afghan forces and civilians, saying the Western-backed Kabul administration was not a party to the February 2020 agreement signed in the Qatari capital, Doha.
  • The Taliban now claim to control about half of the country’s roughly 400 districts

• Kerala Veterinarian Gets Patent For Biodiesel From Chicken Waste
  • The invention is an outcome of inventor John Abraham’s research at Namakkal Veterinary College under the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.
  • After waiting for more than seven years, John Abraham, a veterinary-doctor-turned-inventor, has finally received the patents for inventing biodiesel from slaughtered chicken waste that offers mileage of over 38 km a litre at around 40 per cent of the current price of diesel and lowers pollution by half.
