• அட்லாண்டிக் முழுவதும் செல்ல உலகின் முதல் செயற்கை நுண்ணறிவு (Artificial Intelligence – AI) கப்பல் “மேஃப்ளவர் 400”அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • இது ஒரு ஆளில்லா கப்பல்.
  • ஐபிஎம் (International Business Machines) உடன் இணைந்து புரோமேர் என்ற கடல் ஆராய்ச்சி நிறுவனத்தால் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டது.
  • நீர்வாழ் பாலூட்டிகளை கண்காணிக்கவும், தண்ணீரில் பிளாஸ்டிக் பகுப்பாய்வு செய்யவும், கடல் மாசுபாட்டை பற்றி அறியவும் 2021 மே 15ல் அட்லாண்டிக்கில் பயணத்தை தொடங்க உள்ளது.
  • ‘மேஃப்ளவர் 400’ முற்றிலும் தன்னாட்சி கப்பல் 15மீ நீளமுள்ள திரிமரன். இது 9 டன் எடைகொண்டது.

• பிரேசிலில் அஸ்ட்ரா ஜெனகா தடுப்பூசியை கர்ப்பிணி பெண்கள் போட்டுக் கொள்ள பிரேசில் அரசு இடைக்கால தடைவித்துள்ளது.
  • பிரேசிலில் அஸ்ட்ரா ஜெனகா, சினோவாக், பைசர் ஆகிய 3 நிறுவனங்களின் தடுப்பூசி பயன்பாட்டில் உள்ளன.
    இந்நிலையில் 35 வயது கர்ப்பிணி பெண் அஸ்ட்ரா ஜெனகா தடுப்பூசி செலுத்தி கொண்ட பிறகு வலிப்பு நோய் ஏற்பட்டு மே 10ல் உயிரிழந்தார்.

• அசாமின் தலைமை செயலாளர் ஜிஷ்ணு பாருவா, 2021 மே 8 அன்று, அசாம் மாநிலத்தில் டிஜிட்டல் நிகழ்நேர வெள்ள அறிக்கை மற்றும் தகவல் மேலாண்மை அமைப்பு (Flood Reporting and Information Management System) (FIRMS) ஒன்றை அறிமுகப்படுத்தினார்.

• Mayflower 400: World’s First Unmanned Vessel To Navigate Across Atlantic
  • A team of researchers from the marine research organisation ProMare with IBM acting as technology partner recently built the world’s first intelligent ship known as the Mayflower 400. 
• Key points:
  • This ship is the world’s first unmanned vessel to navigate across the Atlantic ocean. The ship is 15 m-long trimaran(multi hull boat), which weighs nine tons and navigates with complete autonomy, is preparing for a transatlantic voyage. The trimaran is automated from the robotic rudder as well as steers it to the diesel generator that supplements its solar power.
  • It will begin its transatlantic voyage on May 15, 2021, to track aquatic mammals, analyze plastic in the water, and study marine pollution.
  • It has been built by the marine research organization ProMare in collaboration with IBM.
  • ProMare invested $1 million along with global contributions in form of technology from India, the United States, and Switzerland to build the ship.

• Brazil suspends use of AstraZeneca vaccine in Pregnant Women
  • Brazil’s federal government on Tuesday nationally suspended the vaccination of pregnant women with the AstraZeneca (AZN.L) COVID-19 shot, after an expectant mother in Rio de Janeiro died from a stroke possibly related to the inoculation.
