  • கிழக்கு ஆப்பிரிக்க நாடான கோமோரோஸ்டன் பாதுகாப்பு, சுகாதாரம், போக்குவரத்து, கலாச்சாரம் உள்ளிட்ட 6 துறைகளில் இந்திய துணை குடியரசு தலைவர் வெங்கய்ய நாயுடு முன்னிலையில் ஒப்பந்தம் கையெழுத்தாகியது.
  • மோரோனியில் 18 மெகாவாட் மின்சார உற்பத்தி மையம் அமைக்க ரூ. 295 கோடி கடனுதவி அளித்துள்ளது இந்தியா.

NATIONAL NEWS

• On October 10, 2019 Union health minister Harsh Vardhan released the National Blindness and Visually Impaired Survey 2019 in New Delhi marking the occasion of World Sight Day. The survey was conducted from 2015-2019 by the health ministry in collaboration with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)- RP (Rajendra Prasad) Eye Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences across 24 states and Union Territories(UT). Around 1.11 lakh people were tested during the survey.

• The Indian Railways launched a Sahyatri mobile app and a website www.railways.delhipolice.gov.in through which the passengers can register their complaints online. • Under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Sambal yojna, the Rajasthan state government has increased the unemployment allowance for transgenders in the state to Rs 3,500 from Rs 3,000 per month.
  • The eligible candidate for the transgender category should be a graduate degree holder from any university established by law located in the state.

• India became a member of Group of 20 (G20) Global Smart Cities Alliance on Technology Governance which works towards advancing the responsible and ethical use of smart city technologies. The World Economic Forum (WEF), the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation serves as secretariat for the Alliance.

 

 

SCIENCE AND TECH UPDATES

• On October 10, 2019, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) launched Ionospheric Connection Explorer (ICON) space weather satellite from Northrop Grumman’s L-1011 Stargazer aircraft, with the company’s Pegasus XL rocket attached beneath, from the Skid Strip runway at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, United States.
  • Ionospheric is the layer of the earth’s atmosphere that contains a high concentration of ions and free electrons and is able to reflect radio waves.

 

 

• The scientists of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) have discovered a 1st & unique eel-loach species of miniature well-dwelling subterranean fish named ‘Pangio bhujia’(due to its resemblance to the North Indian snack, bhujia) in Cherinja village, Kozhikode district of Kerala.
  • The eel, lives in deep subterranean aquifers , is about 3 centimetres in length, pinkish-red in colour & belongs to the genus Pangio.

• On October 9, 2019 the Australian women’s cricket team broke the record for most consecutive wins in One Day International (ODI) cricket with their 18th triumph by defeating Sri Lanka .
