• சென்னையில் உள்ள இந்திய தொழில்நுட்ப நிறுவனத்தைச் (IIT – Madras) சேர்ந்த ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள், உப்பு நீரை சூரிய ஒளியின் மூலம் குடிநீராக மாற்றும் முதலாவது ஆலையை தமிழகத்தின் கன்னியாகுமரியில் அமைத்துள்ளனர்.
  • இத்திட்டத்திற்கு மத்திய புவி அறிவியல் அமைச்சகத்தினால் நிதியளிக்கப்படுகிறது.

• நிதி ஆயோக்கானது, எதிர்கால நடைமுறை மற்றும் கொள்கை முயற்சிகளுக்கான வடிவமைப்பை உருவாக்குதல் மற்றும் முழுமையான நிதி சேர்ப்பிற்கான நடவடிக்கைகள் ஆகியவற்றை மேற்கொள்வதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்ட, நிதி தொழில்நுட்ப மாநாட்டை (FinTech Conclave – Financial Technology) புதுடெல்லியில் நடத்தியுள்ளது.

• டிஜிட்டல் முறையில் பணம் செலுத்துதல்களை வலுப்படுத்தவும், நிதி தொழில்நுட்பம் மூலம் நிதி சேர்த்துக் கொள்ளவும், இந்திய ரிசர்வ் வங்கியானது (RBI) “நந்தன் நீலகேனி” தலைமையில் 5 உறுப்பினர்கள் கொண்ட குழுவை நியமித்துள்ளது.

உலக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• ஜெனிவாவை தலைமையிடமாகக் கொண்ட உலக பொருளாதார மன்றத்தால் சமீபத்தில் வெளியிடப்பட்ட உலகளாவிய ஆற்றல் மாற்றம் குறியீட்டில் (Global energy Transition index) இந்தியா 76வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது.
  • இக்குறியீட்டில் ஸ்வீடன் முதலிடத்திலும் சுவிட்சர்லாந்து இரண்டாவது இடத்திலும் உள்ளது.

 

 

விளையாட்டு நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• ஐக்கிய அரபு அமீரகத்தின் அபுதாபியில், நடைபெற்ற சிறப்பு ஒலிம்பிக் உலக கோடைக்கால விளையாட்டுப் போட்டிகளில் 85 தங்கப் பதக்கங்களுடன் மொத்தம் 368 பதக்கங்களை வென்று இந்தியா வரலாற்றுச் சாதனை படைத்துள்ளது.

• உலகளாவிய ஆசிரியர் பரிசு 2019 ஆனது பிரான்ஸ் நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த “பீட்டர் தபிக்சி” (Peter Tabichi) என்பவருக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டது.
  • இவர் தனது மாத வருமானத்தில் 80 சதவீதத்தை ஏழைமக்களின் கல்விக்காக செலவிடுகிறார்.

• பாகிஸ்தான் தினம் – மார்ச் 23
  • இந்திய துணைக் கண்டத்தில் வாழ்ந்த முஸ்லீம்கள் தங்களுக்கு தனிநாடு வேண்டி 1940ம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் 23 அன்று லாகூர் தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றியதை நினைவுப்படுத்துவதற்காக பாகிஸ்தான் தினம் மார்ச் 23 அன்று அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது.
  • 1956ம் ஆண்டின் இதே தினத்தில் அந்நாட்டின் முதல் அரசியலமைப்பை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டதன் மூலம் பாகிஸ்தான் முதல் இஸ்லாமிய குடியரசாக உருவெடுத்தது.

 

 

 புத்தகங்கள்

 

• இந்தியாவின் தலைமைத் தேர்தல் ஆணையராக இருந்த “நவின் சாவ்லா” அவர்களால் “அனைத்து ஓட்டுகளும் எண்ணப்படும்” (Every Votes Counts) என்ற புத்தகம் எழுதப்பட்டு முன்னாள் குடியரசுத் துணைத் தலைவர் ஹமீத் அன்சாரியால் வெளியிடப்பட்டது.
  • இந்த புத்தகத்தம் தேர்தலின் ஓட்டு இயந்திரம் எப்படி செயல்படுகிறது என்ற விளக்கத்தை அளிக்கிறது.

NATIONAL NEWS

• On 25th March, NITI Aayog has organized a FinTech Conclave at Dr. Ambedkar International Center, New Delhi. The Conclave was inaugurated by RBI Governor, Shaktikanta Das.
  • The motive of the conference is to shape India’s continued ascendancy in FinTech, build the narrative for future procedure and policy efforts, and to deliberate steps for complete financial inclusion.

 

• On 25th March 2019 Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed 5-member committee under the chairmanship of Nandan Nilekani to strengthen digital payments as well as to boost financial inclusion through Financial Technology.

 

• A yarn bank has been set up at the Mysore Powerloom Silk Manufacturers Cooperative Society on Avenue Road to benefit the state’s weavers.
  • The bank, regardless of the price rise in the open market and the menace of middlemen, ensures a steady supply of yarn to the weavers from southern Karnataka.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• On 25th March 2019, India ranks 76th (among 115 countries) on a global energy transition index which was compiled by Geneva-based World Economic Forum (WEF), based on their energy system performance and affordability.
  • The top three performers are Sweden, followed by Switzerland and Norway.

 

APPOINTMENTS

• On 24th March, 2019, Govindaraj has been unanimously re-elected as president of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) at its annual general-body meeting.
  • Govindaraj announced that a new six-team women’s league will be held in next three months.

 

AWARDS

• On 22nd March, Lalit Kala Akademi (LKA) announced 15 winners of the 60th Annual Academy Awards. All the awardees will be honoured with a plaque, a shawl and prize money of Rs 1 lakh at the 60th National Exhibition of Art, scheduled from March 25 to April 8 at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) and Sir JJ School of Art.

 

SPORTS

• The 2nd edition of Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships aka Tong Yun Kai Cup 2019 was held in Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Hong Kong. The championship was organized by Badminton Asia and Hong Kong Badminton Association. China has grabbed the championship by defeating Japan with 3-2.
  • In the mixed doubles, Chinese pair He Jiting and Du Yue has defeated apanese pair Yuta Watanabe and ArisaHigashino by 21-17, 21-17.

 

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

• Oslo, the capital city of Norway will become the world’s first city to install wireless, induction-based charging stations for its fleet of electric taxis with an aim to have a zero-emission cab system by the year 2023 according to a report by Reuters.
  • Finland’s utility company ‘Fortum’ will collaborate with U.S. company Momentum Dynamics and the government of Oslo to install induction charging plates in the roads that allow for charging up to 75 kilowatts.

 

IMPORTANT DAYS

• On 25th March 2018, International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade was observed all over the world to raise awareness about the dangers of racism and to honour and to remember people who suffered for the slavery system.
  • The theme for International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade 2019 is “Remember Slavery: The Power of the Arts for Justice”.
