தமிழக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• தமிழ்நாட்டில் கடந்த ஆண்டு (2018) வடகிழக்கு பருவமழை காலத்தில் மழைப்பொழிவை குறைவாகப் பெற்றுள்ள சென்னை, தர்மபுரி, கிருஷ்ணகிரி, மதுரை, விருதுநகர் உட்பட “24” மாவட்டங்கள் நீரியல் வறட்சியால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மாவட்டங்களாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • மேலும் கோவை, கன்னியாகுமரி, தேனி, தூத்துக்குடி, நெல்லை, திருப்பூர், நீலகிரி ஆகிய மாவட்டங்களில் உள்ள “38 வட்டாரங்கள்” வறட்சி வட்டாரங்களாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

 

 

இந்திய நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• 1919ம் ஆண்டு நடந்த ஜாலியன் வாலாபாக் படுகொலையில், பஞ்சாப் சிங்கம் லாலா லஜபதிராய் தாக்கி கொல்லப்பட்டதால், பகத்சிங் (பஞ்சாப்), ராஜகுரு (மராட்டியம்), சுக்தேவ் (பஞ்சாப்) ஆகிய சுதந்திர போராட்ட வீரர்கள் ஸாண்டர்ஸ் என்ற ஆங்கில போலீஸ் அதிகாரியை சுட்டுக் கொன்றனர்.
  • இதனால் இம்மூன்று பேரும் 1931ம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் 23 அன்று தூக்கிலிடப்பட்டன.
  • பகத்சிங், சுக்தேவ், ராஜகுரு ஆகியோரின் நினைவு தினத்தை (மார்ச் 23) பஞ்சாப் அரசு சார்பில் இளைஞர் அதிகாரமளித்தல் தினமாக (Youth Empowerment Day) கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது.

 

 

உலக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் நிலையான வளர்ச்சிக்கான தீர்வுகள் அமைப்பு (UNSDSN – United Nations Sustainable Development Solution Network) வெளியிட்டுள்ள, உலகில் மகிழ்ச்சியான நாடுகளின் பட்டியலில் இந்தியாவானது 140வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது.
  • 156 நாடுகள் கொண்ட இப்பட்டியலில் பின்லாந்து முதலிடத்திலும், டென்மார்க் 2வது இடத்திலும், நார்வே மூன்றாம் இடத்திலும் உள்ளது. தெற்கு சூடான் 156வது (கடைசி) இடத்தில் உள்ளது.

 

 

• கஜகஸ்தான் நாடானது தனது நாட்டின் தலைநகரத்தின் பெயரை “அஸ்தானா” என்பதை நுர்சுல்தான் (Nursultan) என மாற்றம் செய்துள்ளது.

 

 

அறிவியல் & தொழில்நுட்பம்

 

• சூரிய ஆற்றலைப் பயன்படுத்தி கடல்நீரிலிருந்து ஹைட்ரஜன் எரிபொருளை உற்பத்தி செய்யும் வழிமுறையை ஸ்டான்போர்டு ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் கண்டுபிடித்துள்ளனர்.
  • இவர்கள் கடல் நீரிலிருந்து ஹைட்ரஜன் வாயு மற்றும் ஆக்ஸிஜன் வாயுக்களை தனித்தனியாக பிரிப்பதற்கான ஒரு புதிய வழியைக் கண்டறிந்துள்ளனர்.
  • நீர் மூலக்கூறுகள் மின்சாரத்துடன் கூடிய ஹைட்ரஜன் மற்றும் ஆக்ஸிஜன் ஆகியவையாக பிரிக்கப்படுவது “எலக்ட்ரோலைசிஸ்” எனப்படும்.

 

 

நியமனங்கள்

 

• தமிழகத்தின் மாநில சிறுபான்மை ஆணையத்தின் தலைவராக “ஜான் மகேந்திரன்” என்பவர் நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
  • மாநில சிறுபான்மை ஆணையச் சட்டமானது 2010 ஆகஸ்ட் 1 அன்று நடைமுறைக்கு வந்துள்ளது.

• உலக தண்ணீர் தினம் – மார்ச் 22 (World Water Day)
  • நன்னீரின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை கவனத்தில் கொண்டு, நன்னீர் வளங்களின் நீடித்த மேலாண்மைக்கு ஆதரவளிப்பதற்காக, ஆண்டுதோறும் மார்ச் 22 அன்று, உலக தண்ணீர் தினம் கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது.
  • இத்தினம், ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் அவையால் 1993 முதல் அனுசரிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
  • 2019 உலக தண்ணீர் தின மையக்கருத்து:- “Leaving no one behind” என்பதாகும்.

 

 

• உலக வானியல் தினம் – மார்ச் 23 (World Meteorological Day)
  • உலக வானியல் தினம் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் மார்ச் 23 அன்று கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது.
  • 2019ம் ஆண்டிற்கான உலக வானியல் தின மையக்கருத்து:- “சூரியன், பூமி மற்றும் வானிலை” (The Sun, The Earth and The Weather) என்பதாகும்.

NATIONAL NEWS

• The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) launched a new podcast app ‘Shiksha Vani’ earlier this week. This app will disseminate crucial information to students and parents in a timely manner.

 

• The Bank of Baroda may get Rs 5,000 capital infusion from the Finance Ministry ahead of its united operations as a merged entity along with the Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank from April 1. In February, the government approved Rs 48,239-crore recap bonds in 12 PSBs.
  • The merger will create India’s third largest bank with a total business of over Rs 14.82 lakh crore.

 

• To expand the Renewable Energy Capacity in India, Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a loan agreement of USD50 million with India’s renewable energy producer company Avaada Energy Private Limited (AEPL).
  • It was signed by Avaada Energy chairman Vineet Mittal and ADB Principal Investment Specialist Mayank Choudhary.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• The Indian word for underpants – chuddies – has become the latest entry to the Oxford English Dictionary. Chuddies is one of the 650 words added to the Oxford English Dictionary as part of its effort to expand coverage of regional vocabularies.
  • Identifying it is an Indian English word in origin, the entry for chuddies in the Oxford English Dictionary.

 

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

• NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope and the National Science Foundation’s Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) discovered pulsar hurtling through space.
  • It speeds nearly 5 million miles per hour which is as fast as it could travel the distance between Earth and the Moon in just 6 minutes.

 

ECONOMY

• Global rating agency Fitch has cut its India’s economic growth forecast to 8 per cent for 2019-20 from the earlier estimate of 7 per cent due to weak momentum in manufacturing and agriculture. However, it said India economic growth forecast is expected to be 7.1 per cent in 2020-21.

 

SPORTS

• In football, India has clinched the SAFF Women’s Championship for the fifth time in a row, defeating hosts Nepal 3-1 in the final at Biratnagar. In the first half, Dalmia Chhibber of India scored the first goal of the match which was equalled by Nepal’s Sabitra Bhandari.
  • This was India’s 23rd straight victory in the championship since its inception in 2010.

 

AWARDS

• Chennai City FC was officially crowned the I-League champion in front of representatives of other clubs and bigwigs of All India Football Federation (AIFF) at a function in Chennai.
  • I-League CEO Sunando Dhar praised Rohit Ramesh, the owner of Chennai City, for the brand of football his team had dished out in the tournament.

 

IMPORTANT DAYS

• World Water Day is celebrated every year on March 22. The idea behind observing this day is focusing on the importance of water and need to conserve it. The World Water Day theme 2019 is “Leaving no one behind”.
  • World Water Day was first observed in 1993 by United Nations General Assembly. This year is 26th World Water Day.7
