• தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டம் திருப்புவனத்தில் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டு தயாரிக்கப்படும் திருப்புவன பட்டுச் சேலைக்கு புவிசார் குறியீடு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • மேலும் கர்நாடகா மாநிலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த உத்திரகாண்டா மாவட்டத்தில் விளையக்கூடிய சிர்சி சுப்பாரி (SIRSI SUPARI) என்ற பாக்கு (Arecnut) வகைக்கு புவிசார் குறியீடு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • சமீபத்தில் ஈரோட்டில் விளையக்கூடிய “ஈரோடு மஞ்சளு”க்கு புவிசார் குறியீடு வழங்கப்பட்டது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

 

 

• அயோத்தி ராம ஜென்ம பூமி பிரச்சனைக்கு தீர்வு காண்பதற்கு முன்னாள் உச்சநீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி “இப்ராகிம் கலிபுல்லா தலைமையில் 3 பேர் கொண்ட குழுவை உச்ச நீதிமன்றம் அமைத்துள்ளது.

• நிலவின் பகல்பொழுது தோன்றும் பகுதியில் நீர் மூலக்கூறுகள் சுற்றி வருவதாக நாசாவின் நிலவு உலவுப்பணி விண்கலமான “LRO” – (Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter) கண்டறிந்துள்ளது.
  • நிலவில் கண்டறியப்பட்டுள்ள இந்த நீரானது எரிபொருள் தயாரிப்பதற்கு அல்லது சூரியக் கதிர்களிலிருந்து பாதுகாப்பதற்கு மனிதர்களால் பயன்படுத்த தகுதியுடையது.

• மகாராஷ்டிரா மாநிலத்தின் முதலாவது முதலமைச்சர் சவான் நினைவாக வழங்கப்படும் யஸ்வந்த் ராவ் சவான் தேசிய விருதானது, முன்னாள் ரிசர்வ் வங்கி ஆளுநர் ரகுராம் ராஜனுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • இவர் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சிக்கு அவர் அளித்த பங்களிப்பிற்காக 2018ம் ஆண்டிற்கான யஸ்வந் ராவ் சவான் தேசிய விருது வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • ரிசர்வ் வங்கியின் தற்போதைய ஆளுநர் – சக்தி காந்த தாஸ்

 

 

• 2019ம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் 11 அன்று இந்தியாவின் உயரிய குடிமக்கள் விருதுகளில் ஒன்றான பத்ம விருதுகளை 112 நபர்களுக்கு இந்திய குடியரசுத் தலைவர் வழங்கினார்.
  • இவ்விருதுகளில், பத்ம ஸ்ரீ விருதானது முதன்முதலாக திருநங்கையான நர்த்தகி நடராஜ் (Nartaki Natraj) உள்பட 94 பேருக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டது.

• தேசிய புகைபிடித்தல் இல்லாத நாள் – மார்ச் 13, 2019 (National No Smoking Day)
  • புகைப்பிடிப்பதால் உடலில் ஏற்படும் தீய விளைவுகள் குறித்து மக்களிடையே விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்தும் நோக்கில் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் “மார்ச் இரண்டாவது புதன்கிழமை” (2019ல் மார்ச் 13) புகைபிடித்தல் இல்லாத நாளாக அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது.
  • இத்தினமானது 1985 ஆண்டிலிருந்து கடைபிடிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
  • உலக புகையிலை இல்லா நாள் (World No Tobacco Day) ஆண்டுதோறும் மே – 31 அன்று கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது.

 

 

• தண்டியாத்திரை தொடங்கிய நாள் – மார்ச் 12
  • இந்தியர்கள் மீது விதித்த உப்புவரியை எதிர்த்து அறவழியில் காந்தியடிகள் தலைமையில் நடைபெற்ற போராட்டம் உப்பு சத்தியாகிரகம் அல்லது தண்டியாத்திரை ஆகும்.
  • இப்போராட்டமானது மார்ச் 12, 1930 முதல் ஏப்ரல் 6, 1930 வரை தடையை மீறி உப்பெடுக்கும் நடைபயணமாக தொடர்ந்தது.

National News

 

• The Union Cabinet has approved “General Election to the Lok Sabha 2019 – statutory notifications under the sub-section (2) of section 14 of the Representative of the people Act, 1951”, which would begin the election process for the 17th House of the People.

 

• Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS) partnered with NASSCOM Foundation, to launch a centre of excellence in Bengaluru for training differently-abled persons (PwDs) which will train a minimum of 100 PwDs making them industry-ready over the next 12 months with a goal to place at least 50% of them in companies already sensitised for hiring them.
  • The trainees will be skilled in a variety of job roles suitable for hospitality, IT or BPM and retail industries and will also be trained on soft skills, interview skills, communication skills, and English language.

 

• After an eight-year-long process, Erode turmeric (of Tamil Nadu) finally got a Geographical Indication (GI) tag from the Geographical Indication Registry. The Erode Manjal Vanigargal Matrum Kidangu Urimaiyalargal Sangham applied for the GI tag in January, 2011, at the office of the Deputy Registrar of GI Registry in Chennai.
  • A Geographical Indication is a name or sign used on certain products that correspond to a specific geographical location or origin.

 

• The entry or transit of Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft has been banned by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in the Indian airspace from 1600 hrs IST or 1030 UTC 13th March 2019.
  • The airlines affected by this are SpiceJet which has 13 jets of the model 8 variant and Jet Airways which has 5 jets of this variant.

 

International News

 

• The 3rd edition of the series of bilateral joint exercise between the armies of India and Oman, called Exercise Al Nagah III, commenced on 12th March 2019 and will continue till 25th March 2019 at Jabel Al Akhdar Mountains in Oman where both the armies will be exchanging expertise in tactics, weapon handling and firing, in order to enhance inter operability in counter-terrorist operations in semi urban mountainous terrain.

 

Science & Technology

 

• A new population of ultraviolet stars has been discovered in the Globular Cluster NGC 2808 by Indian astronomers from Thiruvananthapuram and Mumbai, using the Indian multi-wavelength space observatory AstroSat.

 

Economy

 

• According to the latest report by the World Gold Council (WGC), India, the world’s largest consumer of gold, has the 11th largest gold reserve, with the current holding secured at 607 tonnes.
  • The number one slot is occupied by the U.S., which has gold reserves of 8,133.5 tonnes, followed by Germany with 3,369.7 tonnes.

 

Sports

 

• Spanish football club Real Madrid has re-appointed Zinedine Zidane as its coach till 30th June 2022. He had earlier led the team to victory in three consecutive Champions League titles.
  • He succeeds Santiago Solari from France, who was removed from the post less than five months in charge

 

Awards

 

• Sona Yukti, a skill development institute, was honoured with the Social Enterprise Network (SEN) sustainability award for education by Young Presidents Organisation at its annual event held in Cape Town, South Africa.
  • It is the only Indian organisation to be selected as part of the SEN awards for 2018.

 

Appointments

 

• On 12th March 2019, Rakesh Makhija was appointed as the non-executive chairman of Axis Bank. His would start serving on this post from 18th July 2019 and will do so for a period of 3 years. He succeeds Sanjiv Misra.
