• குடியரசு தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு திருப்பூரில் 70 மணி நேரத்தில் 90,000 ஆயிரம் ஸ்டிக்கர்கள் பயன்படுத்தி 1,745 சதுர அடியில் இந்திய தேசியக் கொடி தயாரித்து கல்லூரி மாணவர் எம்.பிரவீன்குமார் கின்னஸ் சாதனை முயற்சியில் ஈடுபட்டார்.
  • இவர் சிவப்பு, வெள்ளை, பச்சை நிறத்தில்5 செ.மீ. உயரம், 5 செ.மீ அகலம் என மொத்தம் 22.5 சதுர அளவு கொண்ட 90,000 ஸ்டிக்கரை பயன்படுத்தி 1,745 சதுர அடி கொண்ட பிளக்ஸ் பேனரின் தேசியக் கொடியை உருவாக்கியுள்ளார்.

• 2020-ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான பத்ம விருதுகளை மத்திய அரசு01.2020 அன்று அறிவித்தது. இது தொடர்பாக மத்திய உள்துறை அமைச்சகம் வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிவிக்கையின்படி, இந்த ஆண்டு மொத்தமாக 141 பத்ம விருதுகள் வழங்க குடியரசுத்தலைவர் ஒப்புதல் வழங்கியுள்ளார்.
  • இதில் 7 பத்மவிபூஷண் விருதுகளும், 16 பத்மபூஷண் விருதுகளும், 118 பத்மஸ்ரீ விருதுகளும் அடங்கும்.

    • இந்த ஆண்டு பத்ம விருது பெறுவோரில் 34 பேர் பெண்களாவர்.
    • வெளிநாட்டவர்கள், வெளிநாடுவாழ் இந்தியர்கள் 18 பேருக்கும் பத்ம விருதுகள் வழங்கப்படுகின்றன.
    • இறப்புக்குப் பிறகான விருது 12 பேருக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

• இந்தியா-பிரேசில் இடையே எண்ணெய் மற்றும் எரிவாயு, கனிம வளங்கள், பாரம்பரிய மருத்துவம் உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு துறைகளில் நிலவும் ஒத்துழைப்பை அதிகரிக்கச் செய்யும் வகையில் 15 ஒப்பந்தங்கள்01.2020 அன்று கையெழுத்தாகின.

• கடந்த 2019-ஆம் ஆண்டில் ஸ்மார்ட்போன் விற்பனையில் முதல் முறையாக இந்தியா அமெரிக்காவை மிஞ்சி சாதனை படைத்துள்ளது என கவுன்டர்பாயின்ட் ஆய்வு நிறுவனம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
  • சீனா தயாரிப்பு நிறுவனங்களின் அதிக அளவில் செல்லிடப்பேசிகளை அறிமுகப்படுத்தியதன் விளைவாக இந்தியாவில் கடந்த ஆண்டில் ஸ்மார்ட்போன் விற்பனை 7 சதவீதம் அளவுக்கு வளர்ச்சி கண்டது.

    • கடந்த 2019-ஆம் ஆண்டில் இந்தியா ஸ்மார்ட்போன் சந்தை8 கோடி செல்லிடப்பேசிகளை விற்பனை செய்தது.

• நியூஸிலாந்து டெவலப்மெண்ட் ஹாக்கி அணிக்கு எதிரான ஆட்டத்தில் இந்திய மகளிர் அணி 4-0 என்ற கோல் கணக்கில் வெற்றி பெற்றது.
  • இந்திய அணி 2-0 என்ற கோல் கணக்கில் முன்னிலை வகித்தது. பரபரப்பாக நகர்ந்த இரண்டாவது பாதி ஆட்டத்தில் மீண்டும் ராணி ராம்பால் ஒரு கோலை பதிவு செய்து அணியின் கோல் கணக்கை உயர்த்தினார்.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• India and Bangladesh signed an agreement to upgrade Ashuganj-Akhaura road into a 4-lane highway on 24 January.
  • The agreement aim is to upgrade the 50.58 kilometre long road between Ashuganj river port and the Akhaura land port in Bangladesh into a 4-lane highway.
  • Related keys:
    • Under the agreement, the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) of Bangladesh and an Indian Company Afcons Infrastructure Limited will upgrade the 39 km long road between the Ashuganj river port to the Dharhar area.
    • The project is part of the $2 billion second line of credit (LoC) extended by India to Bangladesh in 2016

 

 

BANKING & FINANCE

• On January 24, 2020, based on the feedback received from the Voluntary Retention Route scheme introduced by the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) in 2009, the central bank(RBI) in consultation with the govt. made certain amendments in the scheme to increase its operational flexibility.
  • As per the amendments, the investment limit under VRR has now been increased to Rs 1,50,000 crores (1.5lakh crores) from earlier Rs.75,000 crores.
  • Related keys:
    • For fresh allotment, the investment limit will be Rs. 90,639 crores and will be allotted under VRR- combined category.
    • The limits of investment will also be available ‘on tap’ and allotted on ‘first come, first served’ basis.
    • Until the limits are fully allotted, the tap will remain opened.

• Sneha Pamneja, a well known Graphic designer based in New Delhi, was awarded Oxford Bookstore Book Cover Prize 2020, a 1st of its kind award for brilliance in book design, at Jaipur BookMark of ongoing 13th edition of the Zee Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) at Diggi Palace Hotel in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
  • She was honoured for designing the cover of the book ‘Tiffin: Authentic Recipes Celebrating India’s Regional Cuisine’.

• Portuguese diplomat Joao Vale de Almeida was appointed as the head of future EU diplomatic mission to the UK after Brexit on 24 January. The UK’s exit was scheduled for 31 January 2020.
  • He has experience as the European union’s U.S. ambassador in 2010-2014.

• International customs day is observed on 26 january. The day recognizes the role of custom officials and agencies in maintaining border security.
