• தமிழக முதல்வர் எடப்பாடி பழனிசாமி, சேலம் – ஓமலூர் பிரதான சாலைக்கு, மறைந்த முன்னாள் முதல்வர் எம்.ஜி.ஆர் அவர்களின் பெயரை சூட்டியுள்ளார்.

 

 

இந்திய நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• குஜராத் மாநிலத்தில் இரண்டு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒரு முறை உலக முதலீட்டாளர்கள் மாநாடு நடத்தப்படுகிறது. அவ்வகையில் 9வது உலக முதலீட்டாளர்கள் மாநாடு இன்று தொடங்கி, மூன்று நாட்கள்(ஜனவரி 18 முதல் 20 வரை) நடைபெற உள்ளது.

 

 

• பிரதமர் நரேந்திரமோடி தலைமையிலான மத்திய அமைச்சரவை தனது வியாபாரத்தை விரிவுபடுத்துவதற்காக, அரசுக்கு சொந்தமான ஏற்றுமதி – இறக்குமதி வங்கியானது(Exim), இந்தியாவில் 6,000 கோடி ரூபாய் மூலதனத்தை அளித்துள்ளது. Exim1982ல் நிறுவப்பட்டது.

 

 

• டி.என்.ஏ தொழில்நுட்ப (பயன்பாடு மற்றும் உபயோகம்) ஒழுங்குமுறை மசோதா – 2019, மக்களவையில் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • இந்த மசோதா டி.என்.ஏ தொழில்நுட்பத்தின் பயன்பாடு மற்றும் உபயோகம் : காணாம ல்போனவர்கள், பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், குற்றவாளிகள், விசாரணைக் கைதிகள் மற்றும் அடையாளம் தெரியாமல் இறந்து போன நபர்கள் ஆகியோரின் அடையாளம் காணுதல் ஆகியவற்றை ஏற்படுத்துவதற்காக முறைப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

 

 

• நாக்பூர் – மும்பை இடையே ஆன ‘சமுருதி காரிடார்’ என்ற விரைவு சாலை திட்டத்திற்காக SBI தலைமையிலான வங்கிகளின் கூட்டமைப்பு, நிதி வழங்க ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது.

 

• மத்திய வர்த்தக மற்றும் தொழில் அமைச்சரான சுரேஷ் பிரபு, மும்பையில் ‘10வது இந்திய ரப்பர் எக்ஸ்போ – 2019’-ஐ தொடங்கி வைத்தார்.

 

 

அறிவியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்பம்

 

• நிலவின் மறுபக்கத்திற்கு சீனா அனுப்பிய விண்கலத்தில் இருந்த பருத்தி விதை முளைக்க தொடங்கியுள்ளது.
  • சீனாவின் விண்வெளி ஆய்வு நிலையம் கடந்த சில நாட்களுக்கு முன், சாங் இ – 4 என்ற விண்கலத்தை நிலவுக்கு அனுப்பி உள்ளது. இந்த விண்கலம், நிலவின் குளிர்நிலையை ஆய்வு செய்ய உள்ளதாக அறிவித்துள்ளது.

 

 

முக்கிய தினங்கள்

 

• ஜனவரி 15 – இந்திய இராணுவ தினம்
  • 1949ம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 15ம் தேதி திரு. கொடண்டரா எம். காரியாப்பா, இந்திய இராணுவத்தின் முதல் தளபதியாக பதவியேற்றார். இந்த தினத்தை நினைவுகூரும் வகையில் இந்திய இராணுவ தினம் 1949 முதல் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் தேசிய தலைநகரில் கொண்டாடப்படுகின்றது.

National News

• Minister of State in Department of Space Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the 1st batch of UNNATI programme of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The full form of UNNATI is: Unispace Nanosatellite Assembly and Training
  • It has been launched by ISRO as part of initiative by United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first United Nations Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNISPACE-50).

 

• Honorable President of India Ramnath Nath Kovind inaugurated the three-day Gandhian Resurgence Summit on the occasion of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi’s 150 birth anniversary at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. It concludes on 19th January, 2019.

 

• Union Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the three-day long 9th International Micro irrigation conference at Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The conference would conclude on January 18, 2019.
  • The Theme of the conference was: “Micro Irrigation and Modern Agriculture”.

 

• The first National Sports Meet 2019 for Tribals was organised by the Ministry of Tribal Welfare in Hyderabad, Telangana.
  • Tribal children of Ekalavya Model Residential Schools from 20 states participated in the program.

 

• Shri Hardeep S. Puri, Minister of State (I/C) for Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) launched the “Global Housing Technology Challenge-India” (GHTC- India) in New Delhi. This will be implemented under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) Mission.
  • Under this, the best globally available innovative construction technologies would be adopted by India to deliver ready to live-in houses in a shorter time, with lower cost and quality construction.

 

International News

• According to the 6th City Momentum Index, released by property consultant JLL, Bengaluru has emerged as the world’s most dynamic city with a robust technology and innovation ecosystem in place. The report is titled: ‘JLL City Momentum: The World’s Top 20 Most Dynamic Cities’.
  • Among other Indian cities, Hyderabad ranked second with Delhi at fourth, Pune at fifth, Chennai at seventh and Kolkata at fifteenth position featuring in top 20

 

Science & Technology

• World’s first television channel dedicated to human rights was launched in London by the International Observatory of Human Rights (IOHR). It would be a web-based channel would bring human rights issues to audiences in over 20 countries across Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
  • Initally the programmes would be broadcasted in English but other languages including Farsi, Turkish, Arabic and Russian would be inducted in the future.

 

Economy

• A Fitch group company India ratings and research estimated that India’s GDP growth to be a “tad higher” at 5% in financial year 2019-20. Earlier it was 7.2% during fiscal year 2018-19.
  • The economy seen a growth rate of 2% in the current financial year against 6.7% in the previous year estimated by Central Statistics Office (CSO).

 

Awards

• Yohei Sasakawa was named to receive Gandhi Peace Prize for 2018, who is the Goodwill Ambassador of the World Health Organization for Leprosy Elimination. The award will be given to Yohei Sasakawa in recognition of his work towards the eradication of the disease in India and across the world.
  • The award was instituted by the Government of India in 1995 during the commemoration of 125th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

 

• The Japan Prize Foundation announced India born professor Rattan Lal as the recipient of the 2019 Japan Prize in the field of “Biological Production, Ecology”.
  • Yoshio Okamoto was announced to be the recipient of the 2019 Japan Prize on of “Materials and Production” field.

 

Appointment

• President Ram Nath Kovind approved the elevation of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari to the Supreme Court.
  • The Chief Justice of India and the Judges of the Supreme Court are appointed by the President under clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution.

 

Sports

• Stephen Constantine steps down as the head coach of the Indian Football team following the team’s exit from 2019 AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Asian Cup. India faced failure against Bahrain at the Sharjah Stadium.
  • This was Constantine’s second regime as India’s Head Coach after 2005. He returned to the hot seat in 2015, succeeding Dutch Wim Koevermans.
