• தமிழ்நாடு அரசின் அறிவியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப கழகத்தின் துணைத் தலைவராக “மயில்சாமி அண்ணாதுரையை” தமிழக அரசு நியமித்துள்ளது.
  • இவர் இஸ்ரோவின் சந்திராயன் I மற்றும் மங்கல்யான் போன்ற செயற்கைகோள் திட்டத்தில் பணிபுரிந்துள்ளார்.

 

 

இந்திய நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• சமீபத்தில் சிங்கப்பூர் பல்கலைக்கழகம் வெளியிட்டுள்ள “எளிதில் தொழில் தொடங்க உகந்த இந்திய மாநிலங்களின்” பட்டியலில் ஆந்திரப்பிரதேசம் முதலிடத்தில் உள்ளது.
  • மகாராஷ்டிரா மாநிலம் இரண்டாமிடத்திலும், டெல்லி மூன்றாம் இடத்திலும் உள்ளது.

 

 

• 44-வது “சர்வதேச விளம்பர சங்கத்தின் உலகளாவிய உச்சி மாநாடு” [44^th global Summit of the international advertising association (IAA)] கொச்சியில் (கேரளா) நடைபெற்றது.
  இம் மாநாட்டின் மையக்கருத்து: BRAND DHARMA என்பதாகும்.

 

 

• தேசிய மனித உரிமைகள் ஆணையமானது பொதுச்சேவை மையங்கள் மூலமாக புகார்களை பதிவு செய்வதற்காக 14433 எனும் இலவச தொலைபேசி எண்ணைத் தொடங்கியுள்ளது.

 

 

• 27-வது உலக புத்தக கண்காட்சியானது புது டெல்லியில் பிரகதி மைதானத்தில் நடைபெற்றது.
  • இக்கண்காட்சியின் கருத்துரு: சிறப்பு தேவைகளைக் கொண்ட வாசகர்கள் “(Readers with special Models) என்பதாகும்
  • UAE-ன் 3-வது பெரிய அமீரகமான “ஷார்ஷா” இந்த புத்தக கண்காகாட்சியின் கௌரவ விருந்தினர் ஆகும்.
  • “ஷார்ஷா” 2019 ஆம் ஆண்டின் உலக புத்தக தலைநகரம் ஆகும்.

 

 

உலக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• ஐ.நா பொதுச் சபையின் பாதுகாப்பு அவையின் தற்காலிக உறுப்பினர்களாக, பெல்ஜியம், டொமினியன் குடியரசு, ஜெர்மனி, இந்தோனேசியா, தென்னாப்பிரிக்கா ஆகிய 5 நாடுகள் பொறுப்பேற்றுள்ளன.
  • அடுத்த இரண்டு ஆண்டு காலத்திற்கு, இந்நாடுகள் பாதுகாப்பு அவையில் உறுப்பினர்களாக இருக்கும். டொமினியன் குடியரசானது முதன்முறையாக பாதுகாப்பு அவையில் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

 

 

• 2019 ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான காலநிலை மாற்ற செயல்திறன் குறியீட்டு (Climate Change performance Index – CCPI) பட்டியலில் “ஸ்வீடன்” மிகவும் சிறப்பான செயல்திறன் கொண்ட நாடாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
• CCPI -2019 குறியீட்டில் மொராக்கோ இரண்டாம் இடத்திலும் லித்வேனியா மூன்றாம் இடத்திலும் உள்ளது.

NATIONAL NEWS

 

• The 27th edition of the New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF), which has the UAE‘s third largest emirate Sharjah as its 2019 guest of honour, inaugurated in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The event will conclude on 13th January.
  • To promote the idea of inclusive learning through a series of exhibitions of audio, silent, tactile and Braille books, the Book Fair’s theme is “Books for Readers with Special Needs”.

 

• In the latest ranking of Singapore’s Asia Competitiveness Institute’s (ACI), Ease of Doing Business (EDB) index 2018, Andhra Pradesh emerged on top of the 21 states of India that were considered for the ranking, while Maharashtra and Delhi came in second and third place, respectively.
  • Andhra Pradesh rose from the 5th rank in 2016 to the top spot in 2018.

 

• The Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) and union commerce ministry is going to organize a two-day mega food international event, the Indus Food Meet 2019, at the India Exposition Mart of Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh. The event will conclude on 15th January 2019.
  • Odisha which will participate as ‘Partner State’ will be setting up its own Pavilion with 30 exhibitors to promote exports of food processing sector.

 

• Maharashtra Government announced distribution of free sops to encourage farmers to enrol in the Atal Solar Krishi Pump Yojana. Launched in October 2018, it aims to reduce losses due to non-payment of electricity bills and also promote solar energy.
  • The things included: two LED bulbs, a DC fan and a mobile charging socket.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

 

• The provincial Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in northwest Pakistan has declared the ancient Hindu religious site of Panj Tirath in the provincial capital Peshawar as national heritage.
  • ‘Panj Tirath’ is named for the five pools of water present at the site and houses a Hindu temple “Shawal Thakardawara” and a lawn with date palm trees.

 

ECONOMY

 

• The government has amalgamated three Regional Rural Banks — Punjab Gramin Bank, Malwa Gramin Bank and Sutlej Gramin Bank — into a single RRB with effect from January 1.

 

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

 

• Scientists from Washington University of United states of America (USA) successfully launched a telescope (X-Calibur instrument) from the McMurdo Station in Antarctica that will analyze X-rays arriving from distant neutron stars, black holes and other exotic celestial bodies.

 

• A warning was issued by The India Meteorological Department (IMD) that a Cyclonic storm “PABUK” over Andaman Sea and neighbourhood is moving towards west-northwestwards with a speed of 21 kmph.

 

AWARDS

 

• The Water Resources Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP), Devineni Umamaheswar Rao received the ‘Central Board of Irrigation and Power Award-2019’ for better planning and construction of Polavaram Irrigation Project on the Godavari River.
  • AP Water Resources Minister, Rao received the award in the category of “Best Implementation of Water Resources Project”.

 

• Home Minister Shri Rajnath singh presented the prestigious 13th Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism awards to 29 winners in 18 categories across Print, Broad cast and purely digital to recognize the outstanding contributions of journalists in 2017 in New Delhi.

 

SPORTS

 

• The 80th National Table Tennis Championship began at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack. As many as 35 teams, including 550 players from different parts of the country are participating in the mega championship.

 

BOOKS

 

• On the occasion of his 78th birthday, veteran actor-producer Sanjay Khan announced his second book, ‘Assalamalaikum Watan’.
  • He is the recipient of the ‘National Citizen Award’ twice, the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Award for Excellence’ and the ‘Gem of India Award for Excellence’ among many other honours.
