• சென்னை-ஹெளரா, சென்னை-ஓக்லா உள்ளிட்ட 100 வழித்தடங்களில், ரூ.22,500 கோடியில் தனியார் மூலம் 150 ரயில்களை இயக்குவதற்காக, நீதி ஆயோக் அமைப்பு மற்றும் ரயில்வே சார்பில் திட்ட அறிக்கை தயாரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • இத்திட்டத்தின்கீழ், சந்தை அடிப்படையிலான கட்டணத்தை வசூலிக்கும் உரிமை தனியாருக்கு அளிக்கப்படும். தனியார் மூலம் ரயில்களை இயக்குவது இத்துறையில் நவீன தொழில்நுட்பங்களை அறிமுகப்படுத்த உதவுவதுடன், பயணிகளுக்கு உலகத் தரத்திலான சேவையும் உறுதி செய்யப்படும்.

  • நாட்டின் மாநிலங்களிடையேயும், வெளிநாடுகளிலும் முதலீட்டு ஒருங்கிணைப்பை அதிகரிக்க இந்த பிரிவு செயல்படும்.
  • இது 5 ஜி மற்றும் செயற்கை நுண்ணறிவு துறையில் வெளிநாட்டு பங்காளிகளுடன் ஒத்துழைக்க உதவும்.

• துபாயில் உள்ள இந்தியன் மேல்நிலைப் பள்ளியில் படிக்கும் சிறுமி சுஜிதா சதீஷ் (13). இவர் 120 மொழிகளில் பாட்டு பாடியுள்ளார். இவருக்கு ‘100 குளோபல் குழந்தை மேதை விருது’ கிடைத்துள்ளது.

• External affairs ministry declared the setting up of new emerging and strategic technologies (NEST) division.
  • The division will work to increase investment coordination among the states of the country and also with the foreign countries.

• Unified Payments Interface (UPI) raised 3 billion transactions in December at National Payments Corp. of India (NPCI).
  • These transactions were 7% higher than in October and 111% higher on a year-on-year basis, the data showed.
  • The transactions were worth ₹2.02 trillion in December compared to ₹1.89 trillion a month ago. Currently, 143 banks are live on UPI

• The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) set up a regional academic center for space at the National Institute of Technology (NITK) at Surathkal in Karnataka’s southwest Dakshina Kannada district.
  • The center at NIT-K will conduct joint research and development in space technology applications to meet the needs of our space programs.

• India’s young table tennis player Manav Thakkar has become the world’s number one player in the under-21 category.
