• அரசு பள்ளி மற்றும் கல்லூரி மாணவர்களிடம் ஆங்கில மொழி பேச்சுத் திறனை வளர்க்க, தமிழக அரசானது பிரிட்டிஷ் கவுன்சிலுடன் ஒப்பந்தம் மேற்கொண்டுள்ளது.

 

 

• விளையாட்டு வீரர்கள் மற்றும் வீராங்கணையருக்கு அரசு வேலைவாய்ப்பில் 3 சதவீதம் இடம் ஒதுக்கீடு செய்ய தமிழக அரசானது அரசாணை பிறப்பித்துள்ளது.

 

 

இந்திய நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• “தேசிய கிராமப்புற பொருளாதார மாற்றத்திற்கான திட்டம்” (National Rural Economic Transformation Project) எனும் புதிய திட்டத்தை, தீன்தயாள் அந்தியோதயா யோஜனா எனப்படும் தேசிய கிராமப்புற வாழ்வாதார மேம்பாட்டுத் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் அமல்படுத்துவதற்கு அமைச்சரவை ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது.
  • தீன் தயாள் அந்தியோதயா யோஜனா, கிராமப்புற மக்களுக்கு திறன் வளர்ப்பு பயிற்சி அளித்து அவர்களின் பொருளாதார நிலையை உயர்த்த 2011ம் ஆண்டு தொடங்கப்பட்டது.

 

 

• 60 வயதைக் கடந்த அனைவருக்குமான “முக்கியமந்திரி விரிதாஜன் ஓய்வூதிய திட்டம்” – (MVPY) மற்றும் 60 வயதிற்கும் மேற்பட்ட பத்திரிக்கையாளர்களுக்காக, “பீகார் பட்ராகர் சம்மன் யோஜனா” (BPSY) என்ற ஓய்வூதிய திட்டத்தையும் பீகார் தொடங்கியுள்ளது.
  • இவ்விரு திட்டங்களும் ஏப்ரல் 1, 2019ல் முதல் நடைமுறைக்கு வரவுள்ளது.

 

 

உலக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• இந்தியா மற்றும் சவுதி அரேபியா இடையே தேசிய முதலீடு மற்றும் உள்கட்டமைப்பு நிதியில் முதலீடு செய்வதற்கான புரிந்துணர்வு ஒப்பந்தம் கையெழுத்தாகியுள்ளது.
  • மேலும் இருநாடுகளுக்கிடையேயான முதலீட்டு உறவுகளை மேம்படுத்தும் வகையில் இந்திய அரசின் “முதலீடு செய் இந்தியா” திட்டம் மற்றும் சவுதி அரேபியாவின் “முதலீட்டு ஆணையம் செயல்திட்டம்” தொடங்கப்பட உள்ளது.

 

 

அறிவியல் & தொழில்நுட்பம்

 

• பிரபஞ்சத்தின் (Universe) தோற்றம் குறித்து புரிந்து கொள்வதற்காக ஒட்டுமொத்த வான்பரப்பையும் ஆய்வு செய்வதற்காக மிகவும் புகழ்பெற்ற திட்டமான ஸ்பியரெஸ் (SPHEREx) திட்டத்தை நாசா தொடங்க உள்ளது.
  • இந்த திட்டமானது 2023ம் ஆண்டில் செயல்படுத்த உள்ளது.

 

 

விருதுகள்

 

• இந்தியாவின் முதல் ‘கால்பந்து ரத்னா விருது’ சுனில் சேத்ரி–க்கு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • ஏற்கனவே “பத்மஸ்ரீ” விருதானது சமீபத்தில் வழங்கப்பட்டது. “பத்ம ஸ்ரீ” விருது பெறும் 6வது கால்பந்து வீரர் என்ற பெருமையை பெற்றுள்ளார்.

 

 

நியமனங்கள்

 

• குடியரசுத் தலைவர், சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தின், கூடுதல் நீதிபதியாக செந்தில் குமார் ராமமூர்த்தி – யை நியமித்துள்ளார்.
  • இவர் அடுத்த இரண்டு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு கூடுதல் நீதிபதியாகப் பணியாற்றுவார்.

• சர்வதேச தாய்மொழி தினம் – பிப்ரவரி 21 (International Mother Language Day – 2019)
  • மொழியியல் பன்முகத்தன்மை மற்றும் பன்மொழி கல்வி ஆகியவற்றை மேம்படுத்துவதற்காக ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் பிப்ரவரி 21ல் சர்வதேச தாய்மொழி தினம் கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
  • 2019ம் கருத்துரு:- “உள்நாட்டு மொழிகளின் வளர்ச்சி, அமைதி மற்றும் நல்லிணக்கத்தின் அடிப்படை” என்பதாகும். (Indigenous Languages Matter for development, Peace building and reconciliation)

National News

 

• A regional conference on ‘Deendayal Disabled Rehabilitation Scheme (DDRS)’ was organised in Kolkata, West Bengal.
  • Under this scheme, monetary help is provided to around 600 NGOs which work in the field of education and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.

 

• Supercomputer named ‘PARAM Shivay’ of 833 teraflop capacity is built for ₹32.5 crore, at IIT-Banaras Hindu University (BHU). It will include 1 peta byte secondary storage.
  • India’s first supercomputer called PARAM 8000 was launched in 1991.

 

• The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada for next 10 years to explore opportunities for collaborations in the field of Forestry Science and to work on various environmental issues like Climate Change, Forest Resource Management and Wildlife.

 

• The Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) has received a bulk production clearance from the Indian Army and the Defence Ministry for production of 114 ‘Dhanush’ artillery guns. Dhanush’ is the first long-range artillery gun to be produced in India. It is a major success story of the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

 

International News

 

• 55th Munich Security Conference (MSC), an annual meeting that brings together leaders and security experts from across the world, was held at Munich, Germany
  • India received widespread support on the issue of Pakistan’s role in cross-border terror attacks including Pulwama strike at the conference.

 

• Chinese news agency Xinhua unveiled the world’s first female AI news anchor Xin Xiaomeng. She has been developed in collaboration with Sogou Inc, a search engine company. She is expected to make a debut in March, during the upcoming meetings of China’s national legislature.
  • Earlier, Xinhua also developed Qiu Hao, the world’s first male AI news anchor at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen held in November 2018.

 

Appointment

 

• The Supreme Court appointed its former judge, Justice D K Jain as the first ombudsman for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
  • The ombudsman will be resolving any issue that comes with regards to the players, as also financial issues.

• Union Minister of State (IC) for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore presented the 7th National Photography Awards in a function organized at National Media Centre in New Delhi.
  • The theme for the Professional category was “Women led Development”, while the theme for Amateur category was “Fairs and Festivals of India”.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award Received by Shri Ashok Dilwali.

 

Science & Technology

 

• Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, inaugurated India’s first Humanoid Police Robot named KP-BOT, ranked as Sub-Inspector (SI), at the Police Headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
  • The robot’s gender is declared female keeping in mind women empowerment and gender equality.

• International Mother Language day – February 21, 2019
  • International Mother Language day was observed on February 21, 2019. This day is observed to promote linguistic diversity and multilingual education. Since 2000 International Mother Language day was observed on 21st February every year.
