• 166 ஆண்டுகால இந்திய ரயில்வே வரலாற்றில் முதன்முறையாக, நடப்பு நிதியாண்டில் (2019-20) பயணிகள் இறப்பு பூஜ்ஜியமாக உள்ளது என ரயில்வே அமைச்சர் பியூஷ் கோயல் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
  • முன்னதாக, கடந்த டிசம்பர் 6-ஆம் தேதி நாடு முழுவதும் உள்ள ரயில் நிலையங்களில் பாதுகாப்புக்காக மிக உயர்ந்த தரத்தை பின்பற்றுவது குறித்து மத்திய அரசிடம் தில்லி உயர்நீதிமன்றம் அறிக்கை கோரியிருந்தது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

    • இரயில்வேயில் ஆண்டுக்கு 500 கோடி மக்கள் பயணிக்கின்றனர்; ஆண்டுக்கு 35 கோடி டன் சரக்கானது இடம் பெயர்க்கப்படுகிறது. 16 இலட்சம் பணியாளர்கள் இதில் பணிபுரிகின்றனர்.
    • இது தினமும் 14,444 தொடருந்துகளை இயக்குகிறது.

 

 

• நிலத்தடி நீர்வளத்தை மேம்படுத்தும் நோக்கத்தில் ரூ.6,000 கோடி மதிப்பீட்டில், அடல் நிலத்தடி நீர் மேலாண்மைத் திட்டத்தை (அடல் பூஜல் யோஜனா) பிரதமர் நரேந்திர மோடி புதன்கிழமை (25.12.19) தொடக்கி வைத்தார்
  • முன்னாள் பிரதமர் வாஜ்பாயின் 95-ஆவது பிறந்த தினமான புதன்கிழமை, தில்லி விஞ்ஞான் பவனில் நடைபெற்ற தொடக்க விழாவில் மத்திய நீர்வளத்துறை அமைச்சர் கஜேந்திர சிங் ஷெகாவத், பாதுகாப்புத்துறை அமைச்சர் ராஜ்நாத் சிங் உள்ளிட்டோர் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

    • லக்னோவில் உள்ள லோக்பவனில் வாஜ்பாயின் 25 அடி உயர சிலை நிறுவப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த சிலையை பிரதமர் மோடி இன்று திறந்து வைக்கிறார்.

 

 

• மத்திய மீன்வளத்துறை அமைச்சகத்தின்கீழ் உள்ள மீன்வளம் மற்றும் மீன் உற்பத்தி மேம்பாட்டு நிதி நிறுவனம் (எப்.ஐ.டி.எப்.) நபார்டு வங்கி மூலம் மாநில அரசுகளுக்கு மீன்பிடி துறைமுகங்கள், மீன் இறங்குதளம் அமைத்தல், மீன் பண்ணைகளை நவீனமயமாக்குதல், மீன் சந்தைகள், கடல்வாழ் உயிரினங்களுக்கான நோய் ஆராய்ச்சி மையங்கள் போன்றவை அமைப்பதற்கு கடன் வழங்குகிறது.
  • இதற்கான ஒப்பந்தம் டெல்லியில் நேற்று மத்திய மீன்வளத்துறை மந்திரி கிரிராஜ்சிங் முன்னிலையில் மத்திய மீன்வளத் துறை அமைச்சகம், தமிழ்நாடு அரசு, நபார்டு வங்கி ஆகியோருக்கு இடையே கையெழுத்தானது.

    • மீன் உற்பத்தியைப் பெருக்குவதாலும் வேலை வாய்ப்பு அளிப்பதாலும் உள்நாட்டு மற்றும் கடல் மீன் வளம் மீன்துறையில் முக்கியமான பங்கினை வகிக்கின்றன. இம்மாநிலம் 1000 கிலோமீட்டர் கடற்கரையைக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றது. அதில்3 இலட்சம் மக்கள் தொகையும் 442 மீனவ கிராமங்களும் இடம் பெற்றிருக்கின்றன. அவர்களில் 2.52 இலட்சம் மீன்பிடி தொழிலில் நேரடியாக ஈடுபட்டு உள்ளனர். அவர்கள் 25,000 கட்டு மரங்களையும், 13724 வள்;ளங்களையும், 8230 விசைப்படகுகளையும், 6800 இயந்திரம் பொருத்தப்பட்ட படகுகளையும் இயக்குகின்றனர். உள்நாட்டு மீன்வளம் சம அளவில் முக்கிய பங்காற்றுகின்றது.

• காமன்வெல்த் விளையாட்டு சாம்பியனான மனு பாக்கர் இரட்டை தங்கப் பதக்கங்களை வென்றார்.
  • போபாலில் நடந்த 63வது தேசிய துப்பாக்கி சுடுதல் சாம்பியன்ஷிப் போட்டியில் ஹரியானாவை சார்ந்த 17 வயதான பாக்கர் பெண்களுக்கான 10 மீட்டர் ஏர் பிஸ்டலில் இரட்டை தங்கப் பதக்கங்களை வென்றார். தனிநபர் மட்டுமின்றி அணிகள் பிரிவிலும் மனு பாக்கருக்கு தங்கப்பதக்கம் கிடைத்தது.

NATIONAL NEWS

• On December 25, 2019, Government of India launched Good Governance Index. Tamil Nadu topped in Good Governance Index. The States and Union Territories were divided into 3 groups namely Big states, North East and hill states and union territories.
  • Tamil Nadu topped in Good Governance Index in the “Big States” category. It was followed by Maharashtra, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.

    • In Agricultural and allied ranking, the best performing states were Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Daman and Diu.

 

 

• NITI Aayog, the policy think tank of Government will launch the second edition of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) India Index and Dashboard 2019–20 on 30 December 2019 at NITI Aayog, New Delhi. The first edition of SDG India Index was launched in December 2018.
  • It was the first tool developed by any large country to monitor progress towards achieving SDGs at sub-national level.

• On December 25, 2019, Union Minister of Communication and IT Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad inaugurated “Digital Village Guruwara”. During the launch, it was announced that the Government has planned to offer free Wi-Fi services to all villages till March 2020.
  • The Government of India has so far connected 1,30,000-gram panchayats through Bharatnet.

• The Cabinet Committee On Security (CCS) chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the creation of a Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) post that will function as a single point of contact for different branches of armed forces.
  • CCS also approved the report of a high-level committee headed by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, which finalised responsibilities and framework for operation of CDS.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• Union Cabinet has given its approval for signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Republic of India and Federative Republic of Brazil on Bioenergy Cooperation.
  • In 2016, during the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of Brazil in India, the two sides agreed to cooperate on research and development (R&D) of renewable energies, and in field of 2nd-generation biofuels.
