• இந்தியாவின், ஐ.நா. நிலையான வளர்ச்சி இலக்கு குறியீட்டில், தமிழகம் இரண்டாவது இடத்தைப் பிடித்துள்ளது. இதில் இமாச்சலப் பிரதேசம் முதலிடத்தையும், கேரளா மூன்றாவது இடத்தையும் பிடித்துள்ளது.

 

 

• ஸ்டார்ட் அப் இந்தியா திட்டத்தை சிறப்பாக செயல்படுத்திய இந்திய மாநிலங்களின் பட்டியலில், குஜராத் மாநிலமானது 100 சதவீதத்துடன் முதலிடத்தில் உள்ளது.
  • ஸ்டார்ட் ஆப் இந்தியா திட்டம் 2016ம் ஆண்டில் தொடங்கப்பட்டது.

 

 

 உலக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• 2019ம் ஆண்டிற்கான உலகப் பொருளாதார மாநாடு (2019 – World Economic Forum Annual Meeting) சுவிட்சர்லாந்து நாட்டின் டாவோஸ் நகரில் ஜனவரி 22 முதல் 25 ஆம் தேதி வரை நடைபெற உள்ளது.
  • இந்த உலகப் பொருளாதார மாநாடு, “நான்காவது தொழில் புரட்சிக்காக உலகமயமாதலை கட்டமைத்தல்” என்ற மையக் கருத்தை கொண்டு நடைபெறவுள்ளது.

• சர்வதேச கால்பந்து அணிகளுக்கான ஃபிஃபா (FIFA) தரவரிசையில் 2018ம் ஆண்டின் முடிவில் பெல்ஜியம் அணி முதலிடத்தைப் பிடித்துள்ளது.

• அமெரிக்க நாட்டுக்கான புதிய இந்தியாவின் தூதராக “ஹர்ஷவர்தன் சிரிங்கலா” என்பவர் நியமனம் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
  • மேலும் வங்க தேசத்துக்கான இந்தியாவின் புதிய தூதராக “ரிவா கங்குலி தாஸ்” என்பவர் நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

  • ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் டிசம்பர் 20ம் நாள், சர்வதேச மனித ஒருமைப்பாட்டு தினம் கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது.
  • ஐ.நா. சபை, 2001ம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 20ம் தேதி சர்வதேச மனித ஒருமைப்பாட்டு தினத்தை அறிவித்தது.

NATIONAL NEWS

• The Maharashtra government has approved a sum of Rs 4,089 crore for the Tembhu lift irrigation scheme in Satara district.
  • The irrigation project will benefit the perennially drought prone areas of Satara, Solapur and Sangli districts.

 

• The US regulator Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has retained the highest aviation safety ranking for India. The Federal Aviation Administration carried out an audit of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in July 2018.
  • FAA formally confirmed that India’s International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA)rating remains ‘Category 1’.

 

• The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, launched the ‘Asiatic Lion Conservation Project’ with an aim to protect and conserve the world’s last ranging free population of Asiatic Lion.
  • The project will be funded through, the Development of Wildlife Habitat, a centrally sponsored scheme (CSS-DWH), with the contributing ratio of 60:40 for central and state share.

 

• 15th edition of a two day Global SME Business Summit was organised by the Ministry of MSME and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with Government e-marketplace in New Delhi.
  • The theme of the event was ‘Building Partnerships through Global Value Chains.’

 

• India and Japan Exchanged notes on Japanese Official Development assistance loan of Yen 105.497 billion (approximately Rs 6668.46 crore) for three projects which are as follows:
  • Chennai Metro Project (Phase 2) for JPY 75.519 billion.
  • Program for Japan-India Cooperative Actions towards sustainable Development goals in India for JPY 15 Billion.
  • Project for Dairy Development for JPY 14.978 billion.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• Russian government announced USA’s withdrawal from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. The treaty aimed to end arms race between USA and USSR during cold war and to ensure some strategic stability in Europe.

 

• The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, the first-ever negotiated global framework on a common approach to international migration in all its dimensions, in Marrakesh, Morocco.

 

APPOINTMENT

• Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Secretary General, Rajeev Mehta has been elected the President of South Asian Fencing Body for a period of four years after the meeting of South Asian Fencing Federation (SAFF) at Hyderabad.

 

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

• The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh launched the iGOT (Integrated Government Online Training Programme) in New Delhi. These initiatives were launched on the eve of Good Governance Day.
  • This initiative aims at “Competent Civil Services for Good Governance”.

• Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu has climbed 3 spots to Number 3 in the latest world badminton rankings. She moved up after claiming a win against Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in last week’s BWF World Tour Finals in Guangzhou, China, for her first title of the year.
  • Among other established shuttlers from India, Saina Nehwal remains at the ninth position.

• Winter Solstice 2018 and Summer Solstice 2018 Occurred on December 21
  • Winter Solstice which is the shortest day of the year was observed in the Northern Hemisphere whereas the Summer Solstice which is the Longest Day of the year was observed in the Southern Hemisphere.
  • The Summer and Winter Solstices are caused as a result of the tilt of the Earth and its elliptical path around the sun.
  • On this day, celebrations and festivals are held in different countries on the occasion of solstice
