• உத்திர பிரதேச மாநிலம் ‘முகஹல்சரை’ இரயில்வே நிலையத்தின் பெயர், தீனதயாள் உபாத்யாயா என அதிகாரப்பூர்வமாக பெயர் மாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.
• குறிப்பு
  • 1968ம் ஆண்டில் ஜன சங்கத் தலைவர் தீன்தயாள் உபாத்யாயா, முகஹல்சரை இரயில் நிலையத்தின் அருகே இறந்தார் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது

 

 

• ஒபாவ்வா படை – கர்நாடக மாநிலத்தில் பெண்களின் பாதுகாப்பை உறுதிப்படுத்தும் நோக்கில் போலீஸ் துறையிலேயே தனிப்படை உருவாக்கப்பட்டு, அதற்கு ஒபாவ்வா படை என பெயர் சூட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • சித்ரதுர்கா பகுதி மன்னர் காலத்தில் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட பெண்கள் படையின் பெயரும் ஒபாவ்வா என்பது தான், இப்படையானது பெண்கள் பாதுகாப்பை முன்னிலைப்படுத்தியும், பெண்களுக்கு எதிராக ஏற்படும் வன்முறைகளை கட்டுப்படுத்தும் நோக்கிலும் இயங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது.

 

 

• முக்கிய மந்திரி கன்னியா உத்தான் யோஜனா – பீகார் மாநிலத்தில் பெண்குழந்தை பிறப்பு விகிதம் மற்றும் பாலின விகிதம் ஆகியவற்றை அதிகப்படுத்தும் நோக்கில் முக்கிய மந்திரி கன்னியா உத்தான் யோஜனா தலைநகர் பாட்னாவில் பீகார் மாநில அரசால் தொடங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதன் மூலம்
  • பெண் குழந்தை பிறந்தவுடன் 2000 ரூபாயும்
  • ஆதார் அட்டை எடுத்தவுடன் 1000 ரூபாயும்
  • தடுப்பூசி அனைத்தும் போட்டவுடன் 200-ரூபாயும்
  • பள்ளிகளில் சீருடைக்காக 5ம் வகுப்பு வரை ஆண்டுதோறும் 700 ரூபாயும் வழங்கப்படும் என பீகார் மாநில அரசு அறிவித்துள்ளது.

 

 

உலக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• உலகத்தை அச்சுறுத்திய ஹிரோஷிமா அணுகுண்டு தாக்குதலின், 73வது ஆண்டு நினைவு தினம் – 06.08.2018
  • 1945ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் மாதம் 6ம் தேதி ஜப்பானின் ஹிரோஷிமா நகரத்தின் மீது “Little boy” என்ற அணுகுண்டை அமெரிக்கா வீசியது.
  • மூன்று நாட்கள் கழித்து நாகசாகி நகரத்தின் மீது “fat boy” என்ற அணுகுண்டை வீசியது. இந்த அணுகுண்டு தாக்குதலால் உயிரிழந்தவர்களின் 73வது நினைவு தினம் ஆகஸ்ட் 06 அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது.

 

 

விளையாட்டு நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• பிஜி நாட்டில் நடைபெற்ற 2018 சர்வதேச கோல்ப் சாம்பியன்ஷிப் போட்டியில் இந்திய வீரர் சுகன்ஜீத் புல்லர் சாம்பியன் பட்டத்தை வென்றுள்ளார்.

 

 

• வாஷிங்டன் ஓபன் டென்னிஸ் போட்டியில் உலகின் மூன்றாம் நிலை வீரரான ஜெர்மனியின் அலெக்ஸ்சாண்டர் வெரேவ் ஆஸ்திரேலியாவின் அலெக்ஸ் டி மினாரை வென்று சாதனைப் படைத்துள்ளார்.

 

அறிவியல் & தொழில்நுட்பம்

 

• இந்தியாவில் இணையதள சேவையின் வேகத்தை அதிகரிக்க உதவும் G-SAT-11 என்னும் செயற்கை கோளை வரும் நவம்பர் மாதம் 30ம் தேதி விண்ணில் செலுத்த இஸ்ரோ திட்டமிட்டுள்ளது.
  • ஜிசாட் 11 செயற்கைகோள் அதிக எடை கொண்டுள்ளதால் (5700 கி.கி) இச்செயற்கை கோளை பிரான்ஸ் ஃகயானாவில் உள்ள யூரோப்பியன் விண்வெளித் தளத்தில் இருந்து ஏவ திட்டமிட்டுள்ளது.

  • இதனால் நிலவை ஆய்வு செயவதற்கான சந்திராயன்-2 விண்கலத்தை அனுப்பும் இஸ்ரோவின் திட்டம் டிசம்பர் மாதத்திற்கு ஒத்திவைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

•  டெல்லி உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தின் தலைமை நீதிபதியாக ராஜேந்திர மேனன் (பாட்னா உயர்நீதி மன்றத்தின் தலைமை நீதிபதி) என்பவர் நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
  • பாட்னா உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தின் தலைமை நீதிபதியாக எம்.கே.ஷா (குஜராத் உயர்நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி) என்பவர் நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
  • ராஜஸ்தான் உயர்நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதியான கால்பேஷ் சத்யேந்திர ஜாவேரி, ஒடிஷா உயர்நீதிமன்றத் தலைமை நீதிபதியாக நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

  • கைத்தறி தொழிலின் முக்கியத்துவமும், அது சமூக வளர்ச்சிக்கு ஆற்றிவரும் பங்களிப்பு குறித்து மக்களிடையே விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்திடவும், கைத்தறி தொழிலை மேம்படுத்தி கைத்தறி நெசவாளர்களின் பெருமையை உயர்த்திட வேண்டுமென்ற உயரிய நோக்கிலும் ஆகஸ்ட் 7ஆம் தேதி தேசிய கைத்தறி தினமாக கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது.

• Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister unveiled the world’s first-ever high energy storage device in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh.
  • The thermal battery, first-of-its-kind anywhere in the world, is a revolutionary and disruptive technology patented by Patrick Glynn in 2016 in India.

 

• NITI Aayog’s International Conference on “Sustainable Growth through Material Recycling: Policy Prescriptions” was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Road Transport, Highways & Ganga Rejuvenation, Nitin Gadkari at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra in New Delhi.

 

• Startup India has launched the Startup Academia Alliance programme, which is a unique mentorship opportunity between academic scholars and startups working in similar domains, to fulfill the Indian Government’s mission to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship in the country.

 

• To strengthen business ties between ASEAN countries and northeastern states. Also, to explore the potential of Meghalaya and its neighboring states, 5th Act East Business Show -2018 was held in Shillong, Meghalaya.

 

• Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has launched an ambitious scheme which promises to provide Rs 54,100 from the birth of a girl child till she graduates.
  • Kumar launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana’ and expressed his government’s resolve for empowerment of women.

 

• NITI Aayog has identified 117 districts as ‘Aspirational Districts’. These districts have been selected on the basis of composite index which includes published data of deprivation enumerated under Socio-Economic Caste Census, Health &Nutrition, Education and Basic Infrastructure.

 

• During the second phase of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), central assistance is provided for opening of new Model Degree Colleges(MDCs) in ‘Aspirational Districts’ identified by NITI Aayog and in unserved & underserved districts in North Eastern and the Himalayan States.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• Exercise ‘Maitree’ is a joint military exercise between Indian Army and Royal Thai Army which is running on in Thailand. It is a platoon level exercise which comprises of infantry component.

 

• Sri Lanka’s Hambantota port is gearing up to become a leading port in the Indian Ocean region. The location of the port had always been extremely advantageous as it was located just a little less than half a nautical mile from the sea lanes.
  • China Merchants Port Holdings (CM Port) entered into partnership with the Sri Lanka Ports Authority in July last year to develop and manage the port.

 

• China successfully tested “Xingkong-2” or “Starry Sky-2”, its first waverider hypersonic aircraft that could carry nuclear warheads and penetrate any current generation anti-missile defence systems.

 

ECONOMY

• To minimize the gap between scientific research and its industrial applications to enhance the impact of these technologies, Startup India launched the “Startup Academia Alliance programme”, which is a special mentorship opportunity between academic scholars and startups working in similar domains.

• Ace Indian shuttler P V Sindhu finished second best yet again in a major tournament final as she went down tamely to Carolina Marin of Spain in the World Championships’ women’s singles title clash at Nanjing, China.

 

• India’s Swastika Ghosh won a bronze medal in the junior girls’ doubles along with Singapore’s Jingyi Zhou in the 2018 Hang Seng Hong Kong Junior and Cadet Open, in Hong Kong.

 

 IMPORTANT DAYS

• 73rd Hiroshima day
  • August 6, 2018, marks the 73rd anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. On this day in 1945, the US bomber Enola Gay dropped the first atomic bomb nicknamed ‘Little Boy’ ever used in military combat on Hiroshima.
  • The Atomic Bomb Dome was located almost directly underneath the explosion was designated as a World Heritage Site in 1996.
