• கடலுக்கு அடியில் இருக்கும் நீர்மூழ்கி கப்பல்களை கண்டுபிடித்து தாக்கி அளிக்கும் “எம்.ஹெச்.60.ஆர்.ஷீஹாக்” (M.H.60R.seahawk) ரக நவீன ஹெலிகாப்டர்களை இந்தியாவிற்கு வழங்க அமெரிக்கா ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது.
  • இந்தியா 24 எண்ணிக்கையிலான இந்த ஹெலிகாப்டர்களை வாங்க உள்ளது.

 

 

• தேசிய வேளாண் மற்றும் ஊரக வளர்ச்சி ஆலோசக சேவை வங்கியுடன் இணைந்து ஆப்பிரிக்க நாடான மாலவியில் இந்திய – ஆப்ரிக்க வேளாண் மற்றும் ஊரக வளர்ச்சி நிறுவனத்தை ((IAIARD – India Africa Institute of Agriculture and Rural Development) இந்தியா அமைக்க உள்ளது.

 

 

விருதுகள்

 

• ஐக்கிய அரபு அமீரகத்தின் மிக உயரிய விருதுகளில் ஒன்றான “சயத் பதக்கமானது” (zayed medal) இந்தியப் பிரதமர் நரேந்திர மோடிக்கு அந்நாட்டு அதிபர் “ஷேக் கலிபா பின் சயத் அல்நாக்யான்” என்பவரால் வழங்கப்பட்டது.
  • ஐக்கிய அரபு எமிரேட்ஸ் உடன் உறவுகளை பராமரிப்பதில் நரேந்திர மோடியின் முயற்சிகளை அந்நாட்டு அரசு பாராட்டியுள்ளது.

 

 

• ஹார்வர்டு மருத்துவ பள்ளியில் உள்ள மனநல மருத்துவரான விக்ரம் பட்டேல் என்பவர் புகழ்பெற்ற ஜான் டிரிக்ஸ் கனடா காய்ர்டுனர் சர்வதேச ஆரோக்கிய விருதை வென்றுள்ளார். (John Dirks Canada Gairdner Global Health Award)
  • இவர் குறைந்த மற்றும் நடுத்தர வருமானமுள்ள நாடுகளில் மனநலம் தொடர்பான பிரச்சனைகள் மற்றும் அவற்றிற்கான தீர்வுகள் குறித்து ஆராய்ச்சி மேற்கொண்டு வருகிறார்.

• 2019-20ம் நிதி ஆண்டில் இந்தியாவின் மொத்த உள்நாட்டு உற்பத்தி வளர்ச்சி 7.2 சதவீதமாக இருக்குமென ஆசிய மேம்பாட்டு வங்கி (ADB – Asian Development Bank)  கணித்துள்ளது.
  • ஆசிய மேம்பாட்டு வங்கியானது 1996ம் ஆண்டில் பிலிப்பைன்ஸின் மணிலா-வை தலைநகரமாகக் கொண்டு தொடங்கப்பட்டது.
  • இதன் தற்போதைய தலைவராக தகேகிகோ நகாவே என்பவர் உள்ளார்.

• பார்வை குறைபாட்டிற்கான தடுப்பு வாரம் – ஏப்ரல் 1 முதல் 7 வரை (Prevention of Blindness week)
  • கண் சம்பந்தமான நோய்களுக்கு சரியான சிகிச்சை அளிப்பதன் மூலம் பார்வை குறைபாட்டினை தடுப்பதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டு, ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஏப்ரல் 1 முதல் 7ம் தேதி வரை பார்வை குறைபாட்டிற்கான தடுப்பு வாரம் கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது.
  • இது 1960ம் ஆண்டு தொடங்கப்பட்டு கடைபிடிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

 

 

• சர்வதேச சுரங்க நடவடிக்கைக்கான விழிப்புணர்வு தினம் – ஏப்ரல் 4 (International Mine Awareness Day)
  • ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் அவையானது ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஏப்ரல் 4 அன்று சர்வதேச சுரங்க நடவடிக்கைக்கான விழிப்புணர்வு மற்றும் உதவிக்கான தினமாக கடைபிடிக்கிறது. இத்தினமானது 2006, ஏப்ரல் 4 முதல் ஆண்டுதோறும் கடைபிடிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
  • 2019ம் ஆண்டின் இத்தினத்தின் மையக்கருத்து:- “United Nations Promotes SDGs – Safe Ground – Safe Home” என்பதாகும்.

• “Saffron Sword : centuries of Indic Resistance to Invaders” – என்ற புத்தகமானது மனோஷி சின்ஹா ராவல் என்பவரால் எழுதப்பட்டு கருடா பிராசன் பிரைவேட் நிறுவனத்தின் மூலம் வெளியிடப்பட்டது.

NATIONAL NEWS

• WhatsApp launched an India-focused fact-checking feature to combat fake news and rumours starting with the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections. The messaging platform said that its Indian users, numbering more than 200 million, can now report uncertain information or rumours they have received to a WhatsApp number (+91-9643-000-888) and check its authenticity.
  • The response will indicate if information is classified as ‘true’, ‘false’, ‘misleading’, ‘disputed’ or ‘out of scope’, and include any other related information.

 

• President Shri Ram Nath Kovind, reached Santiago, Chile in the evening of 30th March, 2019. This was the final leg of his visit to three nations – Croatia, Bolivia and Chile.
  • Ram Nath Kovind addressed India-Chile Business Forum.

 

• The Reserve Bank of India has set the limits for Ways and Means Advances (WMA) to 75000 crore for the first half of the financial year 2019-20.
  • As and when the government of India utilises 75% of the WMA limit, the central bank would activate fresh floatation of market loans.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• Chicago has created history by electing an African-American woman as its mayor for the first time. Lori Lightfoot, a 56-year-old former federal prosecutor and practicing lawyer who has never before held elected office, won the city’s mayoral race by a huge margin. She will also be Chicago’s first openly gay mayor.
  • Lightfoot will take over office from Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who previously served as chief of staff under former President Barack Obama.

 

• Nepal is set to organise the Nepal-India Franchise Investment Summit, starting from May 15. The two days Franchise Investment Summit will be held in Kathmandu in association with the Embassy of India and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

 

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

• The Center for Cell and Molecular Biology (CCMB) scientists have discovered a new enzyme called “Murein EndopeptidiaseK” which helps to cut bacterial cell walls, so it is possible for a new drug treatment that prevents bacterial resistance by existing antibiotics.
  • Scientists from all around the world are trying to understand these events .They are studying about Dr. Reddy’s lab how Coli bacterial cells act to separate cholera, lepsy, tuberculosis, and many other diseases.

 

ECONOMY

• The RBI cut key short-term lending (repo) rate by 25 bps to 6 percent at its First bi-monthly monetary policy review of the ongoing fiscal. The MPC decided to keep the monetary policy stance unchanged at neutral.
  • Consequently, the reverse repo rate under the LAF stands adjusted to 75 percent, and the marginal standing facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate to 6.25 percent.

 

APPOINTMENTS

• Vipin Anand has assumed the charge of Managing Director of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). In March 2019, he was appointed by Centre as the LIC MD.

 

AWARDS

• In the tenure of more than 35 years, he served as the head of LIC’s western zone, comprising of 23 divisions. On the 3rd of April, 2019, UAE honored PM Narendra Modi with its highest civilian award, the Zayed Medal for boosting the bilateral ties between both of the nations.
  • United Arab Emirates’s highest civilian decoration, the Order of Zayed, awarded to those who contribute to international leadership in strengthening relations with the country.

• United Nations’ International Mine Awareness Day is observed on 4th April every year to raise awareness about landmines and the actions that need to be taken towards their eradication.
  • The Theme for International Mine Awareness Day 2019 is “United nations promotes SDGs –Safe Ground –Safe Home”. (SDG –Sustainable Development Goals)
