• உலகின் மிக சக்திவாய்ந்த நாடுகளின் பாஸ்போர்ட் பட்டியலில் மூன்றாவது முறையாக ஜப்பான் முதலிடத்தைப் பிடித்துள்ளது.
  • ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் உலகின் சக்தி வாய்ந்த நாடுகளின் பட்டியல் வெளியாகும். அந்த வகையில் சர்வதேச விமான போக்குவரத்து சங்கத்தின் பதிவுகளை பயன்படுத்தி இந்த ஆண்டு ஹென்லி பாஸ்போர்ட் இன்டெக்ஸ் நிறுவனம் ஒரு பட்டியலை வெளியிட்டு இருக்கிறது.
  • ஒரு நாட்டின் பாஸ்போர்ட் வைத்துக்கொண்டு விசா இல்லாமல் அதிக நாடுகளுக்கு சென்று வர முடிவதையும் மற்றும் ஒரு நாட்டில் சென்று அங்கு இறங்கிய பிறகு விசா பெறுவது என்பன போன்றவற்றின் அடிப்படையில் இது தீர்மானிக்கப்படுகிறது.
  • ஜப்பானிய மக்கள் தற்போது விசா இல்லாமல் 196 நாடுகளுக்கு செல்ல முடியும் என்பதும் அதற்கு அடுத்தபடியாக சிங்கப்பூர் குடிமக்கள் 190 நாடுகளுக்கு பயணிக்க முடியும் என்பதும் இதற்கு முக்கிய காரணங்களாக இருக்கின்றன. மூன்றாவது இடத்தில் உள்ள ஜெர்மனி மற்றும் தென் கொரிய நாடுகள் தங்கள் நாட்டு குடிமக்களுக்கு 189 நாடுகளுக்கு விசா இல்லாத பயணங்களை வழங்குகின்றன.
  • முக்கியமாக பிரிட்டன், பெல்ஜியம் நியூசிலாந்து, நார்வே, சுவிட்சர்லாந்து மற்றும் அமெரிக்கா ஆகிய நாடுகள் 7வது இடத்தையும், பிரான்ஸ், அயர்லாந்து ,நெதர்லாந்து, ஸ்வீடன் ஆகியவை 6-வது இடத்தையும் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டுள்ளன. 9வது இடத்தில் கனடாவும் 10வது இடத்தில் ஹங்கேரி நாடுகளும் உள்ளன.

• 15 ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முந்தைய வைரஸ்கள் பனிப்பாறைகளில் கண்டுபிடிப்பு
  • சீனாவில் உள்ள திபெத்திய பனிப்பாறைகளில் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட ஆய்வில் 15 ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முந்தைய வைரஸ்களை விஞ்ஞானிகள் கண்டறிந்துள்ளனர்.
  • ஓஹியோ மாகாண பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் விஞ்ஞானிகள் பனிப்பாறைகள் குறித்த ஆராய்ச்சியை மேற்கொண்டிருந்தனர். கடந்த 2015ஆம் ஆண்டு மேற்கு சீனப் பகுதியில் கடல்மட்டத்தில் இருந்து 22 ஆயிரம் அடி உயரத்தில் உள்ள பனிப்பாறையின் மாதிரிகள் சேகரிக்கப்பட்டு ஆய்வு செய்யப்பட்டு வந்தன.
  • ஆய்வுக்காக சேகரிக்கப்பட்ட 2 பனிப்பாறைகளில் 15 ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முந்தைய வைரஸ்கள் இருந்தது தற்போது கண்டறியப்பட்டுள்ளது. பனிப்பாறைக்குள் நீண்ட காலமாக இருந்ததால் வைரஸ்கள் அழியாமல் இருந்துள்ளது தெரியவந்துள்ளது.

• சொந்த ராக்கெட்டில் விண்வெளிப் பயணத்தை வெற்றிகரமாக முடித்துத் திரும்பினார் அமேசானின் ஜெஃப் பெஸோஸ்
  • அமெரிக்காவின் மேற்கு டெக்சாஸ் மாகாணத்தில் உள்ள ராக்கெட் ஏவுதளத்தில் இருந்து ஜெஃப் பெஸோஸின் ப்ளூ ஆரிஜின் ராக்கெட் புறப்பட்டது.
  • ஜெஃப் பெஸோஸ{டன் அவருடைய சகோதரர் மார்க் பெஸோஸ், சிறப்பு கவுரவ விருந்தினராக வேலி ஃபங் என்ற விண்வெளி வீராங்கனை மற்றும் ஆலிவர் டீமன் என்ற பணக்காரர் ஆகியோர் பயணப்படனர்.
  • எலான் மஸ்க், ரிச்சர்டு பிரான்ஸன் போன்றோரின் விண்வெளிப் பயணத்தை தொடர்ந்து ஜெஃப் பெஸோஸ் தனது விண்வெளி பயணத்தை மேற்கொண்டுள்ளார் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

• Japan has best passport, India ranks 85
  • The Henley’s passport index has retained Japan on top of passport rankings as it offers visa-free access to 191 destinations around the world.
  • India is in the middle with rank 85, but three of its SAARC fellow members — Pakistan, Nepal (104) and Afghanistan — bring up the rear with countries in the throes of civil war such as Libya, Somalia, Yemen, Syria and Iraq.
  • Indian passport holders can access 58 countries in the world without a prior visa and share the spot with Tajikistan.
  • Singapore continues to be in second place since the rankings were last announced in July 2019, while South Korea and Germany are tied for the third place.
  • The index has placed Pakistan on the 107th position. Pakistani passport holders can have visa-free access to 32 countries.

• 15,000-year-old viruses discovered in Tibetan glacier ice
  • Scientists who study glacier ice have found viruses nearly 15,000 years old in two ice samples taken from the Tibetan Plateau in China. Most of those viruses, which survived because they had remained frozen, are unlike any viruses that have been cataloged to date.
  • Published today in the journal Microbiome, could help scientists understand how viruses have evolved over centuries. For this study, the scientists also created a new, ultra-clean method of analyzing microbes and viruses in ice without contaminating it.

• Jeff Bezos thanks Amazon workers for ‘paying’ for his space trip
  • Amazon founder Jeff Bezos on Tuesday successfully completed an 11-minute trip into space onboard a rocket built by his company Blue Origin. Donning a blue suit and a cowboy hat, Bezos addressed a conference after his brief trip into space, during which he thanked the workers of Amazon for “paying” for his trip.
