• மார்த்தா கூம் கென்யாவின் முதல் பெண் தலைமை நீதிபதி ஆகிறார்.
  • 61 வயதான கூம் 33 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாக தனியார் சட்ட நடைமுறையிலும் நீதித்துறை உறுப்பினராகவும் பணியாற்றினார்.
  • கென்யா ஜனாதிபதி உஹீரு கென்யாட்டா மார்த்தா கூமை கிழக்கு ஆப்ரிக்க நாட்டின் முதல் பெண் தலைமை நீதிபதியாகவும் நீதித்துறை தலைவராகவும் நியமித்துள்ளார்.
  • நைரோபி நாட்டின் புதிய அரசியலமைப்பு ஆகஸ்ட் 27, 2010 முதல் நடைமுறைக்கு வந்ததிலிருந்து அவர் நாட்டின் 3வது தலைமை நீதிபதி ஆகிறார்.

• நேபாளத்தில் நாடாளுமன்றத்தை கலைத்து 6 மாதங்களில் புதிய தேர்தலுக்கு குடியரசுத்தலைவர் வித்யாதேவி பண்டாரி உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார்.
  • நேபாளத்தில் ஆளும் நேபாள கம்யூனிஸ்ட் கட்சிக்குள் பிரதமர் சர்மா ஓலி மற்றும் முன்னாள் பிரதமர் புஷ்ப கமல் தாஹா இடையே மோதல் அதிகரித்தது.
  • அரசியல் குழப்பம் அதிகரித்த நிலையில் நாடாளுமன்றத்தில் அண்மையில் நம்பிக்கை வாக்கெடுப்பு நடத்தப்பட்டது. அதில் பிரதமர் சர்மா ஓலி அரசு தோல்வியடைந்தது.
  • அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து பிரதமர் பதவியை சர்மா ஓலி ராஜிநாமா செய்தார்.
  • புதிய ஆட்சியமைக்க எதிர் கட்சியான நேபாள காங்கிரஸ் முயற்சித்தது. அந்த கட்சியால் பெரும்பான்மையை நிரூபிக்க முடியவில்லை.
  • இதையடுத்து பிரதமராக சர்மா ஓலி மீண்டும் மே 14ம் தேதி பதவியேற்றார். அவர் 30 நாள்களுக்குள் நாடாளுமன்றத்தில் பெரும்பான்மையை நிரூபிக்க அதிபர் உத்தரவிட்டார். பெரும்பான்மையை நிரூபிக்க சர்மா ஓலிக்கு 136 உறுப்பினர்கள் ஆதரவு தேவை.
  • நாடாளுமன்றத்தில் பெரும்பான்மையை நிரூபிப்பதற்கான மீண்டுமொரு வாக்கெடுப்பை நடத்த பிரதமர் விரும்பவில்லை.
  • இந்நிலையில் நாடாளுமன்றத்தை கலைத்து ஆறு மாதங்களில் புதிய தேர்தல் நடத்த குடியரசுத்தலைவர் வித்யா தேவிபண்டாரி உத்தரவிட்டார்.
  • நேபாள நாடாளுமன்றத்துக்கு நவம்பர் 12, 18 ஆகிய தேதிகளில் 2ம் கட்டமாக தேர்தல் நடைபெறும்.

• மத்திய கிழக்கு வங்கக்கடல் பகுதியில் உருவான காற்றழுத்த தாழ்வு பகுதி அடுத்தடுத்து வலுவடைந்து ‘யாஸ்’ புயலாக மாறவுள்ளது. இந்த புயலுக்கு ஓமன் நாடு ‘யாஸ்’ என பெயரிட்டுள்ளது.
  • மே 23 ல் காற்றழுத்த தாழ்வு மண்டலமாக வலுவடைந்து மத்திய கிழக்கு அரபிக்கடலில் நிலை கொண்டிருந்தது.
    அந்தமான் தீவுகள் போர்ட் பிளேயருக்கு வடக்கு – வடமேற்கே 560 கிமீ தொலைவிலும், ஒடிஸா மாநிலம் பாரதீபிற்கு
  • கிழக்கு – தென்கிழக்கே 590 கிமீ தொலைவிலும் நிலைகொண்டிருந்தது.

• Martha Koome appointed Kenya’s first woman chief justice
  • Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Court of Appeal Judge Martha Koome as the East African country’s first woman chief justice and head of the judiciary.
  • She replaces David Maraga,She is the first woman to head any of the three branches of government.
    About Martha Koome.
  • She founded and headed the Federation of Women Lawyers which is an organization dedicated to campaign and advocates for women’s rights and offer free legal aid to poor women. The organization played an important role in the drafting of the new constitution in 2010.
  • Martha Koome is the 3rd chief justice since the new constitution drafted.

• Nepal President orders to dissolves parliament
  • Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari dissolved the parliament on Friday midnight and ordered fresh polls in six months.
  • The decision was made on the recommendation of theCabinet headed by caretaker Prime Minister KP Oli. the elections will take place between November 12 and 18.
  • Reason for the Dissolution
    The dissolution of the parliament comes after Oli’s claim to form the government had to be dropped by the President on legal advice. Oli was recently appointed as Prime Minister after the opposition parties, led by Nepali congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuja, were unable to put together a coalition government.
  • Protest
    The opposition parties, including Nepali Congress, Maoist Party, a section of the Samajbadi Janata party, and dissidents from the Oli’s Communist Party of Nepal – unified Marxist/Leninist, had warned that they would launch widespread protests if the President violated the constitution and retained Oli.

• Cyclone Yaas Hits North Odisha, Bengal On High Alert
  • Cyclone Yaas crossed the north Odisha coast about 20 km south of Balasore between 10.30 and 11 am, with 130-140 km per hour winds.
  • Over 10 lakh people have been relocated to storm shelters in Odisha and West Bengal. While other states such as Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar islands have also put a contingency plan in action, it is Odisha that is likely to be at the centre of the devastating storm.
