• தலைபன்னாரிலிருந்த தனுஷ்கோடி வரை உள்ள (பாக்-ஜலசந்தி) 30 கி.மீ. தூரத்தை குறைந்த நேரத்தில் குறைந்த வயதில் “R. ஜெய் ஜஸ்வந்த்” என்பவர் நீந்தி சாதனைப் படைத்துள்ளார்.
  • இவர் தேனி மாவட்டம் அல்லி நகரத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர். இதற்கு முன் 1994ல் குற்றாலீஸ்வரனின் சாதனையை இவர் முறியடித்துள்ளார்.

 

 

இந்திய நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் வளர்ச்சி திட்டம் (UNDP – United Nation & Development Programme) மற்றும் ஆக்ஸ்போர்டு வறுமை மற்றும் மனித வள மேம்பாடு ஆகியவை இணைந்து உலக பரிமாண வறுமை குறியீடு அறிக்கையை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.
  • இந்த அறிக்கையின்படி இந்தியா மிக வேகமாக தனது வறுமை நிலையை 55 சதவீதத்திலிருந்து 28% சதவீதமாக குறைத்துள்ளது.

 

 

உலக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• இலண்டனில் நடைபெற்ற பயணிகள் டெர்மினல் கண்காட்சி 2019ல் சிங்கப்பூரின் சான்கி விமான நிலையமானது (Singapore Changi Airport) உலகின் சிறந்த விமான நிலையமாக தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • இந்த விமான நிலையமானது தொடர்ந்து 7வது முறையாக இவ்விருதைப் பெற்றுள்ளது. இந்தியாவின் இந்திரா காந்தி விமான நிலையம் 59வது இடத்தைப் பெற்றுள்ளது.

• 2019ம் ஆண்டின் பேட்மிண்டன் ஆசியக் கலப்பு அணிகள் சாம்பியன்ஷிப் போட்டிகளின் 2வது பதிப்பானது ஹாங்காங்கில் நடைபெற்றது.
  • இதில் ஜப்பானை வீழ்த்தி சீனா சாம்பியன்ஷிப் பட்டத்தை வென்றுள்ளது.

 

 

• இந்திய ஆடவர் ஹாக்கி அணியின் தலைமை பயிற்சியாளராக ஆஸ்திரேலியாவின் முன்னாள் வீரர் கிரஹாம் ரீட் என்பவர் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
  • இவர் 2022ல் நடைபெறும் உலககோப்பை போட்டி வரை பயிற்சியாளராக பணியாற்ற உள்ளார்.

• இலக்கியம், கலாச்சாரம், அறிவியல் மற்றும் தகவல் தொடர்பு உள்ளிட்ட துறைகளில் சிறந்த பங்களிப்பை வழங்கியவர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்படும் “போட்லே பரிசானது” நோபல்பரிசு வென்ற பொருளாதார நிபுணர் அமர்த்தியசென் பெற்றுள்ளார்.

புத்தகங்கள்

 

• இந்தியாவின் நிதிக் கொள்கை பற்றிய புத்தகமான “இந்திய நிதி கூட்டாட்சி” (Indian Fiscal Federalism) என்ற புத்தகமானது, இந்தியாவின் 15வது நிதிக்குழு தலைவர் “N.K. சிங்” என்பவரால் வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • இந்த புத்தகமானது, 14வது நிதிக்குழு தலைவர் Y.V. ரெட்டி மற்றும் G.R. ரெட்டி என்பவர்களால் எழுதப்பட்டது.

National News

 

• RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, a Mini Ratna CPSU under the Ministry of Railways, has successfully completed work of turning 1000 railway stations across the country into Free Wi-Fi zone.
  • RailTel started the project in January 2016 from Mumbai Central station in Maharashtra. It was the first station to have the fast and free RailWire Wi-Fi and in a span of two years and three months.

 

• The Telangana Governmet launched a MSME networking portal, Telangana State Global Linker in Hyderabad to digitise over 2.3 million MSMEs of the state. The solution aims to address key challenges faced by MSMEs with the core objective of making their business growth simpler, more profitable and enjoyable

 

• On 28th March 2019, an Interactive session was held between India and ambassadors & High Commissioners of European and Oceania Countries in New Delhi. The aim of the interactive session was to take economic ties with European and Oceania countries to a next level. Various trade negotiations were also discussed in the session.
  • Bilateral trade between India and Europe is of USD 130.1 Billion and import and export between the countries has registered double digit growth.

 

• Google has constituted an eight-member Advanced Technology External Advisory Council that will examine the ethical challenges related to artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies.
  • The aim of the council is to provide recommendations for Google and other companies and researchers regarding the AI.

 

International News

 

• The 16th meeting of the Canada-India Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism and its Expert Sub-group was held in Ottawa on 26th and 27th March to provide detailed briefings on their respective nation’s counter-terrorism priorities, strategies and legislative frameworks.
  • The meeting has reviewed the threats posed by terrorist groups worldwide and in their respective countries and regions.

 

Science and Technology

 

• A hyper-local connectivity app called “Bhonga” has been developed by Mumbai-based Company Linkus Infratech, to connect users to their neighborhood people in the city even without an Internet connection.
  • “Bhonga” is a Marathi word which means megaphone or loudspeaker.

 

Economy

 

• The commerce ministry has unveiled a blockchain-based coffee e-marketplace to help farmers integrate with markets to facilitate them to get aware of fair prices for the commodity.
  • It will reduce the number of layers between coffee growers and buyers and help farmers double their income.

 

Sports

 

• On 28th March 2019, the unique mixed teams Hopman Cup (Tennis tournament) in Perth has been replaced by the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Team Cup after 31 years.
  • Now three cities Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth will host the new men-only tournament (ATP World Team Cup) final.

• On 29th March 2019, Indian Test Cricketer, Mayank Agarwal, appointed as Brand Ambassador of Aeronutrix’s Fast&Up Rope for the growth of the fast-moving healthcare goods business in India.
  • He has a record of making 1000 runs on the domestic season in 2017-18, within a single month.

• The Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Shaktikanta Das launched the book “Indian Fiscal Federalism” authored by Y.V. Reddy and G.R. Reddy. The launch event of the book was addressed by the Chairman of the 15th Finance Commission NK Singh, in New Delhi.
