• 70வது இந்திய குடியரசு தினம்
  • 1950 ஜனவரி 26 அன்று இந்திய அரசியலமைப்பு நடைமுறைக்கு வந்ததை நினைவு படுத்தும் விதமாக ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஜனவரி 26,-ல் இந்திய குடியரசு தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
  • இந்த வருடம் (2019) 70வது குடியரசு தினமாகும்.
  • கருப்பொருள் : காந்தியடிகளின் 150வது பிறந்த ஆண்டு என்பதால் அவரது கொள்கைகள் மற்றும் வாழ்க்கையை கருப்பொருளாக கொண்டு விழா நடைபெற்றது.
  • இதில் தென்னாப்பிரிக்கா அதிபர் சிரில் ரமாபோசா சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக கலந்து கொண்டார்.

 

 

• இந்தியா – தென்னாப்பிரிக்கா இடையே பாதுகாப்பு, வர்த்தகம் உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு துறைகளில் ஒத்துழைப்பை மேம்படுத்த “3 ஆண்டு ஒத்துழைப்பு திட்டம்” (3 year strategic programme) செயல்படுத்தப்பட உள்ளது.

 

 

உலக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• உலக அளவில் அரசு நிதியில் இயக்கக் கூடிய சிறந்த அறிவியல் ஆராய்ச்சி நிறுவனங்கள் கொண்ட நாடுகளின் பட்டியலில் இந்தியாவானது 9வது இடம் பிடித்துள்ளது.
  • சிறந்த அறிவியல் ஆராய்ச்சி கட்டுரை வெளியிடும் நாடுகளின் பட்டியலில் இந்தியா 5வது இடம் பிடித்துள்ளது.

 

 

• மொழிகள் மற்றும் பண்பாடுகள் அழிவதை தடுப்பதற்கான உலகளாவிய கருத்தரங்கம் பிரான்ஸ் நாட்டின் யுனெஸ்கோ அரங்கில் நடைபெற்றது.
  • இக்கருத்தரங்கில், ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் பொதுச்சபையானது 2019ம் ஆண்டினை “உள்நாட்டு மொழி ஆண்டாக” (International Year of Indigenous Language) அறிவித்துள்ளது.

• ஆஸ்திரேலியாவின் மெல்போர்ன் நகரில் நடைபெற்ற ஆஸ்திரேலிய கிராண்ட்ஸ்லாம் ஓபன் டென்னீஸ் போட்டியின் ஆடவர் ஒற்றையர் பிரிவில் செர்பியாவின் நோவக் ஜோகோவிச் ஸ்பெயினின் ரபேல் நடாலை வீழ்த்தி சாம்பியன் பட்டம் வென்றுள்ளார்.

பொருளாதார நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• பொதுத் தேர்தல் குறித்த எதிர்பார்ப்புகளில், நடப்பாண்டின் முதல் அரையாண்டில் இந்தியாவின் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சி 6.6 சதவீதமாக குறையும் என ஜப்பானைச் சேர்ந்த தரகு நிறுவனமான நேமுரா தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
  • 2017ல் இந்தியாவின் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சி 7.4 ஆகும்.

• தேசிய வாக்காளர் தினம் – ஜனவரி 25
  • ஜனநாயக தேர்தல் முறைகளில் பொதுமக்களின் பங்களிப்பை அதிகப்படுத்துவதற்காக இந்திய தேர்தல் ஆணையம் தனது நிறுவன நாளான ஜனவரி 25ம் தேதியை தேசிய வாக்காளர் தினமாக கடைபிடிக்கிறது.
  • 2011ம் ஆண்டு முதல் தேசிய வாக்காளர் தினம் கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இது 9வது தேசிய வாக்காளர் தினமாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.
  • 2019ம் மையக் கருத்து : எந்தவொரு வாக்காளரும் விடுபட்டுவிடக் கூடாது.

National News

 

• Highlighting the success of Make in India and contribution of Indian workers, Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal, renamed India’s first indigenous semi-high speed train ‘Train 18’ as ‘Vande Bharat Express’.
  • Vande Bharat Express will run from Delhi to Varanasi taking stops at Kanpur and Prayagraj.

 

• Department of Justice (DoJ) has decided to deliver e-courts services to the litigant public through around two lakh Common Service Centres (CSCs) so as the provide efficient and time bound access to the Courts services.
  • e-courts services are rolled through digital mediums like Email, SMS, Mobile App and some other platforms.

 

• Supreme Court constituted a new five-judge committee to hear upon the politically sensitive Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land title dispute in Ayodhya.
  • The new committee members are Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and Justices S.A. Bobde, D.Y. Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S.A. Nazeer. Justices Bhushan and Nazeer are the new members in the bench.

 

• An expert programme ‘Operation Olympics’ managed by Kerala’s Sports Department and State Sports Council was commenced to train 123 athletes in 11 disciplines for 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
  • The programme has the objective to provide international standard training to the athletes with the help of eminent trainers from both India and abroad.

 

• The Supreme Court said it will be taking an “in-chamber” decision on the listing of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of Article 35-A, which provides special rights and privileges to permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The oral observation came from a Bench led by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi in response to an oral mentioning for early hearing of the petitions.

 

International News

 

• Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah was elected as Malaysia’s new king by the members of the country’s royal families. The 59-year-old was earlier appointed the Sultan of the Malaysian state of Pahang.
  • He replaced Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan, who stepped down recently, making it the first abdication in Malaysia’s history.

 

Science & Technology

 

• India tested the new generation anti-radiation missile (NGRAM) which would destroy all the surveillance and radar systems. The missile is launched from Balasore.
  • The Defence-Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has created this missile as a surface to air missile and is screened by Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet.

 

Economy

 

• The report released by CISCO on 2019 Data Privacy Benchmark Study ranked India in 6th position in General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) readiness index.
  • It also stated that organizations that invested to meet GDPR norms experienced shorter delays in selling to existing customers.

 

Awards

 

• Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) awarded social impact award to Tetra Pak India, the world’s leading packaging and processing solutions provider under the category ‘Sustainable Environment category’.

 

• Romain Rolland Book Prize for literary translation won by Tamil translation of Andrei Makine’s “La vie d’un homme inconnu” (The Life of an Unknown Man) at the Jaipur Literature Festival.

 

• Assam government entitled the Republic Day Journalism Award 2019 to veteran journalist and former editor Dhirendra Nath Chakraborty.

• Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal was crowned champion of the Indonesia Masters 2019 after her opponent Carolina Marin pulled out of the summit clash due to an injury.
  • Saina was the runner-up in the 2018 edition of the Indonesia Masters.

 

• The Australian Open is a tennis tournament held annually in Melbourne Park, Australia. The tournament is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
  • Novak Djokovic from Serbia won the Men’s Singles event and Naomi Osaka of Japan won the Women’s singles event.
