• 13 சுற்றுலா தளங்களை இணைக்கும் நாட்டின் முதல் “பழங்குடிகள் சுற்றுப் பாதைத் திட்டத்தை” மத்திய சுற்றுலாத்துறை அமைச்சர் சத்தீஸ்கரில் தொடங்கி வைத்தார்.
  • இச்சுற்றுப்பாதை திட்டமானதுஇ 2014 – 2015 ஆம் ஆண்டில் தொடங்கப்பட்ட ஸ்வதேஷ் தர்ஷன் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் நடைமுறை படுத்த உள்ளது.

 

 

• ஏழ்மை மற்றும் பின்தங்கிய பிரிவைச் சேர்ந்த மாணவர்களுக்காக சீரான, அணுகக்கூடிய மற்றும் தடையற்ற உதவித்தொகை அமைப்பை உறுதி செய்யும், நாட்டின் முதலாவது தேசிய கல்வி உதவித் தொகை வாயில் (NSP – National Scholarship Portal) மற்றும் கைபேசி செயலியை மத்திய சிறுபான்மை அமைச்சகம் வெளியிட்டுள்ளது
  • இச்செயலியின் மூலம் மாணவர்கள் பல்வேறு உதவித் தொகைகள் குறித்த தகவல்களைப் பெற முடியும்.

 

 

• ஜார்கண்ட் மாநில அரசானது அலுவலகப் பயன்பாட்டிற்காக மின்வாகனங்களை அறிமுகப்படுத்தியுள்ளது. அரசாங்கப் பயன்பாட்டிற்காகச் சுற்றுச்சூழலுக்கு உகந்த வாகனங்களை கொள்முதல் செய்யும் இந்தியாவின் ஐந்தாவது மாநிலமாகவும் கிழக்கிந்தியாவின் முதலாவது மாநிலமாகவும் ஜார்கண்ட் உருவெடுத்துள்ளது
  • இதற்கு முன் அலுவலகப் பயன்பாட்டிற்காக மின் ஊர்திகளை தில்லி, மகாராஷ்டிரா, ஆந்திரப் பிரதேசம், தெலுங்கானா போன்ற மாநிலங்கள் பயன்படுத்தி உள்ளன என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

 

 

உலக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• சாகர்மாதா தோழமை – 2 (Sagarmatha friendship – 2) – நேபாளம் மற்றும் சீனா நாடுகளுக்கிடையேயான பேரிடர் மேலாண்மை. தீவிரவாதிகளை ஒழித்தல் போன்றவற்றை நோக்கங்களாகக் கொண்ட கூட்டு இராணுவப் பயிற்சிஇ சீனாவின் தென்மேற்கு சிசூவான் மகாணத்தின் தலைநகர் செங்டு (Chengdu) – வில் செப்டம்பர் 17 அன்று நடைபெற உள்ளது
• குறிப்பு:
  • சமீபத்தில் பிம்ஸ்டெக் (BIMSTEC) நாடுகளின் முதலாவது கூட்டு இராணுவப் பயிற்சியான MILEX – 2018 ல் நேபாளம் கலந்து கொள்ளாதது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

• விளையாட்டுகளில் வாழ்நாள் சாதனைப் படைத்தவர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்படும் தயான்சந்த் விருதுகள் மற்றும் கடந்த நான்கு ஆண்டுகளில் சிறப்பான மற்றும் தகுதி வாய்ந்த பணிக்காக பயிற்சியாளர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்படும் துரோணச்சாரியா விருதுகள் பெறுவோரை தேர்வு செய்வதற்காக “நீதிபதி முகல் முத்கல்”. தலைமையில் 11 பேர் கொண்ட தேர்வுக் குழு நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது

• சந்திரனுக்கு சுற்றுலா பயணிகளை முதன்முதலாக அழைத்துச் செல்லும் அமெரிக்காவின் ‘ஸ்பேஸ் எக்ஸ்’ என்னும் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் “பிக் பால்கன்” என்ற மிகப்பெரிய இராக்கெட் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது
  • இதன் மூலம் சந்திரனுக்கு முதன் முறையாக சுற்றுலா பயணிகளை அழைத்துச் செல்லும் நாடு என்ற பெருமையை அமெரிக்கா பெறவிருக்கிறது

• நீடித்த வளர்ச்சி இலக்குகள் மற்றும் தொற்றா நோய்களை தடுத்தல் மற்றும் கட்டுப்படுத்துதலில் சிறப்பான பங்காற்றியதற்காக புகழ்பெற்ற ஐ.நா. நிறுவனங்களுக்கிடையேயான பணிக்குழு விருது (UNIATF – UN Interagency Task Force) மனோஜ் ஜலானிக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

• குறிப்பு:
  • 1949 ஆம் ஆண்டு செப்டம்பர் 14 அன்று இந்திய அரசியல் நிர்ணய சபையால் இந்தி மொழி அலுவல மொழியாக ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளப்பட்டது.

NATIONAL NEWS

• To promote heritage tourism and preserve heritage, Rajasthan government held a two-day convention on ‘Revitalising India as a Heritage Destination’ to focus on preserving heritage properties in Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
  • It was organized by Indian Heritage Hotels Association. Rajendra Singh Pachar was the convention chairman.

 

• For the first time in India, dog owners will have a dedicated dog park to visit. Set up in Hyderabad, the park is spread across an area of 1.3 acres. The park houses dog training equipment, play equipment, splash pool, fountain, areas for exercise, amphitheater, lawns, separate kennels for small and big dogs and a dedicated dog clinic.

 

• India’s first underwater robotic drone developed at Maker Village in Kochi, which can send real-time video of ships and other underwater structures to help with their repair and maintenance, was launched.
  • The first commercial remotedly operated vehicle (ROV)/ underwater drone, Eyerovtuna, was developed by EyeROV Technologies, a company incubating at Maker Village which is the largest hardware incubator in the country.

 

• Maharashtra has the highest number of people living with HIV in India which is around 3.30 lakh, contributing 15 per cent of total immunodeficiency virus-affected people in the country which is 21.40 lakh, according to the latest data by Health and Family Welfare Ministry. Nationally, around 69.11 thousand PLHIV died of AIDS-related causes in 2017.
  • The report “HIV Estimations 2017” released compiled by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-National Institute of Medical Statistics (NIMS) is the 14th round in the series of HIV Estimations under National AIDS Control Programme (NACP).

 

• Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the state would become open defecation free by October 2, 2019, with his government constructed over 1.36 crore toilets in the last 17 months. The Chief Minister said that the coverage of the cleanliness in Uttar Pradesh was only 23 per cent.
  • He said that after the base line survey for the small families, by October 2, 2019 no families would left without toilets in the state.

 

• Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu flagged off the ‘Swachh Dhara’ programme in Amravati, with an aim to provide clean drinking water across the state.
  • As part of the scheme, tankers providing water across the state will be cleaned periodically through a six-layered cleaning process which involves the use of ultraviolet radiation to kill bacteria.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• World leaders and business tycoons gathered in Russia’s Far Eastern port city of Vladivostok to discuss cooperation at the fourth Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
  • The three-day forum under the theme of “The Far East: Expanding the Range of Possibilities” has attracted thousands of attendees from more than 60 countries.

 

• Typhoon Mangkhut has left multiple dead as the storm pummelled the northern Philippines with ferocious wind and rain that set off landslides, damaged an airport terminal and ripped off tin roofs.
  • Mangkhut slammed ashore before dawn in Cagayan province, in the northeast, and is on target to hit southern China.

 

• In a bid to understand Earth’s ice sheets, glaciers, sea ice, snow cover and permafrost, NASA successfully launched its Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite-2, or ICESat-2. The satellite with a three-year mission was launched with liftoff aboard a Delta II rocket from Space Launch Complex-2 at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

 

ECONOMY

• Inflation based on wholesale prices eased to a four-month low of 53% in August on softening of prices of food articles, especially vegetables. The Wholesale Price Index-based inflation stood at 5.09% in July and 3.24% in August last year.
  • The wholesale price index is an index that measures and tracks the changes in the price of goods in the stages before the retail level.

 

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

• India’s first underwater robotic drone –EyerovTUNA was launched and handed over to the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL) of DRDO. It was developed by EyeROV Technologies at Maker Village.
  • It is the first commercial Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV)/ underwater drone and was supported by Kerala Start up Mission (KSUM).

 

• Indian Coast Guard Ship Vijaya, the second in the series of 98 m offshore patrol vessels (OPVs), was commissioned by Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra in Chennai. It has been designed and built indigenously by Larsen & Toubro.

 

• NASA launched its Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite-2, known as ICESat-2, which will use an extremely precise laser to collect measurement data to track the Earth’s shrinking polar ice from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
  • The laser, known as ATLAS (Advanced Topographic Laser Altimeter System), splits into six beams and fires 10,000 pulses per second to collect very precise measurements for scientists to analyze. The ATLAS will focus on two areas: changes to the earth’s ice sheet and sea ice thickness change.

 

• Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will launch its polar satellite launch vehicle (PSLV) C42 from Sriharikota. PSLV-C42 is scheduled to be launch from the first launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre. It will carry two earth observing satellites – NovaSAR and S1-4 of Surrey Satellite Technology Limited, UK.

 

AWARDS

• GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd received the Airports Council International Airport Service Quality World no.1 airport award trophy for the second consecutive year. This was under the category of: 5-15 Million Passengers Per Annum (MPPA).
  • The award ceremony was organised at the ‘2018 ACI Customer Excellence Global Summit’ at Halifax in Canada.

 

IMPORTANT DAYS

• The International Day of Democracy was observed across the world on September 15, 2018. The day provides an opportunity to review the state of democracy in the world. It was observed for the first time in 2008.
  • The theme of the 2018 International Day of Democracy was ‘Democracy under Strain: Solutions for a Changing World’.
