போக்குவரத்து துறையின் நாட்டின் முதலாது பல்கலைக் கழகமானது வதோதராவில் செப்டம்பர் 11ல் தேசிய இரயில் போக்குவரத்து நிறுவனம் (NRTI – National Rail and Transportation Institute) தொடங்கியுள்ளது.
கடலோர காவற்படையை நவீனப்படுத்தும் நோக்கில், கடந்த 2015ம் ஆண்டு பாதுகாப்பு அமைச்சகத்தின் மூலம் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட ஒப்பந்தத்தின் கீழ் L & Tகப்பல் கட்டுமான நிறுவனம் 7 ரோந்து கப்பல்களை வடிவமைத்து கொடுக்கும் ஒப்பந்தத்தை பெற்றது.
அதன்படி, “விஜயா” என்னும் இரண்டாவது அதிநவீன ரோந்து கப்பல் நாட்டிற்கு அர்பணிக்கப்பட்டது.

The National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO)released the report HIV Estimations 2017. The HIV Estimations 2017 is the 14th round in the series of HIV Estimations under National AIDS Control Programme (NACP).

The Global Climate Action Summit 2018 was held at San Francisco, California, United States. Over 4000 businesses, cities, states and civil society delegates attended the summit and showed their commitments to achieve the goals set by the Paris Agreement.

Union minister K J Alphons, the Minister of State for Tourism, inaugurated the country’s first tribal circuit project connecting 13 tourism sites in Chhattisgarh. This project was sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourismin February 2016 for 99.21 Crores.
The project was implemented under the Tourism Ministry’s Swadesh Darshan schemelaunched in 2014-15 for development of thematic circuits in the country in a planned and prioritized manner.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj led the Indian delegation at the 23rd meeting of India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission (IRIGC-TEC)to discuss the expansion of Russia-India relationship across all sectors. The meeting was chaired by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov.
Asserting that climate change is pushing the world towards “the edge of the abyss”, UN chief Antonio Guteress has said that he will convene a meeting in September 2019 to bring climate action to the top of the international agenda.
The UN Secretary General also announced the appointment of Luis Alfonso de Alba, a former Mexican diplomat, as his Special Envoy to lead the preparations of the summit.

Govt decided to contain fiscal deficit at 3 pc of GDPfor the fiscal year ending March 2019 to avoid a twin deficit problem. Excise duty cut on petrol and diesel has been ruled out.
Further, cutting expenditure, though might bring down the fiscal deficit , would result in a stunted economic growth in the long run. Hence, the share of non-oil tax to GDP has to be hiked.
