• நகர்புற மேம்பாட்டுக்கான திட்டங்களை நிலையாக செயல்படுத்தவும், கார்பன் மோனாக்ஸைடு போன்ற பசுமை இல்ல வாயுவை குறைப்பதையும் நோக்கமாகக் கொண்ட MOBILIZE YOUR CITY” (MYC) மீது இந்தியா மற்றும் பிரான்ஸ் நாடுகளுக்கிடையே உடன்படிக்கை ஒப்பந்தம் கையெழுத்தாகியுள்ளது.
  • இவ்வுடன்படிக்கை, உள்ளுர் மட்டத்தில் நகர்புற திட்டங்களை செயல்படுத்துவதில் உதவுவதோடு, தேசிய அளவிலான இந்தியாவின் நிலையான போக்குவரத்து கொள்கையை மேம்படுத்துவதற்கு உதவும்.

 

 

• நாடு முழுவதிலும் உள்ள வனம் மற்றும் மலைப்பகுதிகளுக்கு அருகே அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள ரயில்வே தண்டவாளங்களை அப்பகுதியில் வசிக்கும் யானை கூட்டங்கள் கடந்து செல்லும் போது, அவை அடிபட்டு இறப்பதை தடுக்க ரயில்வே துறையானது “Plan Bee” என்னும் திட்டத்தை தொடங்கியுள்ளது. இத்திட்டத்தின் மூலம் இரயில்கள் தண்டவாளங்களில் செல்லும் போது தேனீக்கள் போல சத்தம் எழுப்பும் ஒலிப் பெருக்கிகளை தண்டவாளத்தின் அருகே இணைக்க உள்ளது.

 

 

• பொருளாதார விவகாரங்களுக்கான அமைச்சரவைக் குழு, 12வது ஐந்தாண்டு திட்டக் காலத்தையும் தாண்டி 2017-18 முதல் 2019-20 வரையில் மத்திய அரசு ஆதரவு பெற்ற சிறப்புத் திட்டமான வனவுயிர் வாழ்விடங்களுக்கான ஒருங்கிணைந்த மேம்பாட்டுத் திட்டத்தை தொடர்ந்து செயல்பட ஒப்புதலளித்துள்ளது.
  • இத்திட்டம் மத்திய அரசின் ஆதரவுத் திட்டமான புராஜெக்ட் டைகர், புராஜெக்ட் எலிபெண்ட் மற்றும் வனவுயிர் வாழ்விட மேம்பாடு ஆகியவைகளை உள்ளடக்கியது.

 

 

• கலாச்சாரம், வணிகம் மற்றும் கல்வியாளர்களுக்கிடையேயான ஊடாடல்கள் போன்றவற்றில் ஒத்துழைப்பை ஊக்குவிப்பதற்கான ஒப்பந்தத்தில் ஜப்பானும் குஜராத்தும் கையெழுத்திட்டுள்ளன.

 

 

உலக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• துருக்கியில் உள்ள இஜ்மிர் நகரில் நடைபெற்ற “87வது இஜ்மீர் சர்வதேச வர்த்தக கண்காட்சியில்” இந்தியா சார்பில் “மூல இந்தியா” என்ற பெயரில் ஒரு மெகா வணிக கூடாரம் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • இந்த “மூல இந்தியா” துருக்கியிலும் ஏனைய அண்டை நாடுகளிலும் இந்தியாவின் ஏற்றுமதிகளை உயர்த்தவும் பயன்படும்.

 

• சுற்றுச்சூழலில் பிளாஸ்டிக் பைகளால் கேடு விளைவதை தடுக்கும் வகையில், தண்ணீரில் கரையும் பிரத்யேக பையை சீன விஞ்ஞானிகள் தயாரித்துள்ளனர்.
  தண்ணீரில் கரையும் இந்த பை மக்காச்சோளம் போன்றவற்றின் மாவில் இருந்து தயாரிக்கப்படுவதாக அவர்கள் கூறியுள்ளனர்.

• அமெரிக்காவின் நியூயார்க் நகரில் நடைபெற்ற, கிராண்ட்ஸ்லாம் டென்னிஸ் போட்டிகளில் ஒன்றான அமெரிக்க ஓபன் டென்னிஸ் போட்டியில், மகளிர் ஒற்றையர் பிரிவில், செரினா வில்லியம்சை வீழ்த்தி ஜப்பான் வீராங்கனை நவோமி ஒசாகா சாம்பியன் பட்டத்தை வென்றுள்ளார்.
  • கிராண்ட்ஸ்லாம் பட்டத்தை ஒசாகா வெல்வது இதுவே முதன்முறையாகும்.
  • ஆடவர் ஒற்றையர் பிரிவில் நோவக் கோவிச் சாம்பியன் பட்டம் வென்றுள்ளார்.

• விஞ்ஞானிகள், தகவல் பத்திரிக்கையாளர்கள் மற்றும் மற்றவர்கள் தங்கள் பணிக்காக தேவைப்படும் தகவல்களை பெற உதவிடும் வகையில் பலதரப்பட்ட மொழிகளில் இயங்கி தகவல்களை கொடுக்கும் Dataset Search என்ற புதிய தேடல் இயந்திரத்தை கூகுள் ஆரம்பித்துள்ளது.

 

விருதுகள்

 

• ஒடியா மொழி இலக்கியங்களை அங்கீகரிக்கவும், அதன் புகழை உலகறியச் செய்யும் கவிஞர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்படும், 39வது “சரளா புரஷ்கார் விருது – 2018” ஒடிசா கவிஞர் ஸ்ரீ சத்ருநா பாண்டாவிற்கு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • அவரது கவிதை தொகுப்பான “மிஸ்ரா துருபத்”க்காக இந்த விருது வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

NATIONAL NEWS

• To encourage ‘Ratings and Rankings’ for educational institutions, Union Minister for HRD Shri Prakash Javadekar inaugurated 2-day 4th World Summit on Accreditation (WOSA-2018) organized by NBA in New Delhi .
  • The theme of WOSA 2018 was “CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN OUTCOME BASED ACCREDITATION”.

 

• India and France have signed an implementation agreement on “MOBILISE YOUR CITY” (MYC) to reduce their Green House Gas (GHG) emissions. It aims at implementing sustainable urban planning.

 

• Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation will organise a global sanitation convention to mark the beginning of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi, also coinciding with the fourth anniversary of the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission.
  • Mahatma Gandhi International Sanitation Convention (MGISC) will be held in New Delhi from September 29 to October 2, Mr. Parameswaran Iyer, Secretary, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation said.

 

• India has decided to participate in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), which tests the learning level of 15 year olds, after a gap of nine years, a senior HRD Ministry official said.
  • The Organisation for Economic Cooperation Development (OECD) conducts PISA every three years.

 

• Border States Punjab & Jammu and Kashmir signed an agreement to re-start work on the Rs 2,793–crore Shahpur Kandi The project, when implemented, will enable the country to fully utilize the Ravi water as per the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan.

 

ECONOMY

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a penalty of Rs 1 crore each on three public sector banks for non-compliance with its directions on “Fraud – Classification and Reporting”.

 

• The country’s current account deficit (CAD) as a percentage of GDP declined marginally to 4% in the April-June quarter of fiscal 2019 against 2.5% in the year ago period, RBI data showed. The rupee is declining against the US dollar due to global factors as well as concerns of higher trade deficit on account of sustained high crude oil prices.
  • According to the RBI’s ‘Developments in India’s Balance of Payments (BoP)’ data, net services receipts increased by 1% year-on-year due to a rise in net earnings from software and financial services.

 

• The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) is working on the guidelines for ‘Sandbox’ method which will allow insurers to test products in a particular geography or among a set of few policyholders before they are available in the market.

 

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

• Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) displayed a space suit developed by the agency at the launch of the sixth edition of Bengaluru Space Expo. It is an orange-coloured prototype space suit developed at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in

AWARDS

• Noted Odia poet Satrughna Pandav will be honoured with the prestigious ‘Sarala Puraskar’ for his poetry collection ‘Misra Dhrupad’.
  • The ‘Sarala Puraskar’, instituted by eminent Odia industrialist late Dr Bansidhar Panda and late Ila Panda in 1979 and awarded by the Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust(IMPaCT) will be presented to Pandav on October 26.

 

SPORTS

• In the US Open Tennis, Novak Djokovic of Serbia won the Men’s singles final. He defeated Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina in straight sets. It was Djokovic’s 14th Grand Slam title and the third US Open title. With this win, he has equalled Pete Sampras’s mark of 14 Grand Slams.

 

• Triple jumper Arpinder Singh has created history by becoming the first Indian to win a medal in the IAAF Continental Cup. At Ostrava in the Czech Republic, he clinched a bronze. The 25-year-old Arpinder was representing the Asia-Pacific team in the meet, held once every four years.
