  • 2018 செப்டம்பர் 01 அன்று வெளியிடப்பட்ட வரைவு வாக்காளர் பட்டியலின் படி, தமிழ்நாட்டில் 5 கோடியே 82 லட்சத்து 379 வாக்காளர்கள் உள்ளனர்.
    •  தமிழ்நாடு தலைமைத் தேர்தல் அதிகாரி “சத்யவிரதசாக்” இந்த வரைவு வாக்காளர் பட்டியலை வெளியிட்டுள்ளார்.

  • புதுடெல்லியில் உள்ள தல்கட்டோரா அரங்கில் இந்திய அஞ்சல் செலுத்துவகை வங்கி (IPPB – India Post Payment Bank) செப்டம்பர் 01 அன்று இந்திய பிரதமரால் தொடங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
    • இந்திய முழுவதும் 650 கிளைகள் மற்றும் 3250 சேவை மையங்களும் தொடங்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.
    • இந்தியாவில் உள்ள அனைத்து 1.55 லட்சம் அஞ்சலகங்களும், 2018 ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 31-க்கள், இந்திய அஞ்சல் செலுத்துகை வங்கி (IPPB) உடன் இணைக்கப்பட்டவுள்ளது.

  • இந்திய மருத்துவத்துறையில் வழங்கப்படும் மிக உயர்ந்த விருதான டாக்டர் பி.சி. ராய் தேசிய விருதுக்கு(2018) ஒடிஷா மாநிலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த நரம்பியல் மருத்துவர் டாக்டர். பசந்த் குமார் மிஷ்ரா (Dr. Basant Kumar Mishra) தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

  • 2017-18 முழு நிதியாண்டில் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சி 6.7 சதவீதமாக குறைந்துள்ளது என ரிசர்வ் வங்கி தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
    முந்தைய 2016-17 ஆம் ஆண்டில் 7.1 சதவீத வளர்ச்சி இருந்தது.

    • தற்போது முக்கிய குறியீடுகளை கணக்கிடுவதற்கான அடிப்படை ஆண்டு 2011-2012 ஆக உள்ளது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

NATIONAL NEWS

  • Gujarat Government has partnered with a top India-centric American advocacy group for the 9th edition of ‘Vibrant Gujarat’, the annual industry summit, which will be held from 18th to 20th January 2019 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
    • John Chambers, chairman of US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF), will lead a high-level CEO delegation to Vibrant Gujarat 2019.

 

  • The bi-annual talks between Indian and Bangladeshi border forces have begun in New Delhi. Director General of Border Security Force (BSF) KK Sharma represented the Indian side while Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Md Shafeenul Islam led the Bangladeshi side in the talks.
    • This is the 47th DG-level conference between the two sides since it began in 1975.

 

  • Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh launched PUDA 360, an e-properties module to facilitate online property transactions. It is aimed at bringing greater efficiency and transparency in the functioning of Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA).
    • The online process would also make e-auction more convenient and give a common platform to the promoters, builders, individuals for advertising their projects.

 

  • Observing the National Nutrition Week, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said that the state government has adopted a multi-sectoral strategy to reduce under-nutrition and anaemia among women and children in a targeted manner by
    • The National Nutrition Week was started by the Central government in 1982 to curb malnutrition and is observed every year from September 1-7.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

  • The 4th BIMSTEC summit successfully concluded with Nepal prime minister KP Sharma Oli handing over the chairmanship of the grouping to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena. Sri Lanka has become the new chair of the BIMSTEC. The Nepalese Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli handed over the chairmanship of BIMSTEC to the President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena.

 

  • According to a report by the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), international tourism hits a record high of 1,323 million international tourist arrivals across the globe in 2017. India leads the chart of growth in the South Asian region with a total of 54 million in 2017.

 

APPOINTMENTS

  • Justice Tahira Safdar was sworn in as the first woman chief justice in Pakistan‘s Balochistan High Court. She is the first woman ever to take the position of a chief justice in a Pakistan high court.

 

  • Justice Ranjan Gogoi is set to take over as the new Chief Justice of India on October 3, 2018. His name has been recommended for the post by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra to the government. As per convention, the senior most judge of the Supreme Court is appointed the Chief Justice of India and Justice Ranjan Gogoi by virtue of his seniority should be next in line. He is expected to take oath on October 3.

 

SPORTS

  • On 2ndSeptember 2018, Asian Games 2018 India achieved its highest ever medal tally at the Asian Games. India won a total of 69 medals which comprises: 15 gold, 24 silver and 30 bronze medals, and ranked 8th in the medals tally. China finished on top of the medal tally with 289 medals.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the book “Moving On, Moving Forward – A Year in Office” written by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. Narendra Modi presented the first copy of the book to Venkaiah Naidu. The book was written by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu to mark his one year in office.

  • 2nd September 2018, World coconut day was celebrated all over the world. World Coconut Day is celebrated every year on 2nd September. It was established in 2009 to commemorate the formation day of Asian Pacific Coconut Community (APCC).
    • Coconut Development Board celebrated the World Coconut Day 2018 along with the Department of Horticulture, Government of Chhattisgarh with the theme ‘Coconut for Good Health, Wealth & Wellness’.
