  • காவல்துறை தகவல் தொடர்புகளை நவீனப்படுத்துவதற்கான, அனைத்து இந்திய காவல்துறை தலைவர்களின் தகவல் தொடர்பு மாநாடானது புதுடெல்லியில் இரண்டு நாட்கள் நடைபெற்றது. இம்மாநாட்டை தகவல் தொடர்பு மற்றும் இரயில்வே ஆகியவற்றிற்கான மத்திய இணையமைச்சரான மனோஜ் சின்ஹாவால் தொடங்கி வைக்கப்பட்டது.

  • தீவிரவாத எதிர்ப்பு நடவடிக்கைகள் குறித்து இந்தியா மற்றும் அமெரிக்கா ஆகிய இரு நாடுகளின் சிறப்பு படைகளுக்கு இடையேயான “வஜ்ரா பிரகார்” என்னும் 2018-ம் ஆண்டின் சிறப்பு பயிற்சியானது, இராஜஸ்தானின் பிகானிரில் உள்ள மகாஜன் ஆயுதப்படை தளத்தில் தொடங்கியுள்ளது.

  • சகோதரத்துவம், பன்முகத்தன்மை ஆகியவற்றை மேம்படுத்துவதற்காக பஞ்சாப் மாநிலத்தின் அமிர்தசரஸ் நகரில் இந்தியாவின் முதலாவது “தேசிய மத நல்லிணக்க நிறுவனத்தை” இந்திய அரசு அமைக்க உள்ளது.
    • இம்மத நல்லிணக்க நிறுவனம் சீக்கிய குருவில் முதன்மை குருவான குருநானக் அவர்களின் 550-வது பிறந்த நாளை நினைவுகூறும் (நவம்பர் 23,2018) வகையில் அமைக்கப்பட உள்ளது.

  • ஆசியா – பசிபிக் பிராந்தியத்தின் பொருளாதார மேம்பாட்டுக்கான (APEC – Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) ஆசியா – பசிபிக் பொருளாதாரக் கூட்டிணைவின் 2018ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான உச்சி மாநாடானது சமீபத்தில் பப்புவா நியூகினியாவின் போர்ட் மோர்ஸ்பியில் நடத்தப்பட்டது. இம்மாநாடானது பப்புவா நியூ கினியாவின் பிரதமர் பீட்டர் ஓ நெய்ல் என்பவர் தலைமையில் நடைபெற்றது.
    • APEC-ன் 21 உறுப்பினர் நாடுகளும் இம்மாநாட்டில் பங்கு பெற்றது.
    • APEC – 1989 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆசிய பசுபிக் பிராந்தியத்தின் பொருளாதார ஒத்துழைப்பிற்காக ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்டது.
    • இதன் தலைமையகம் சிங்கப்பூரில் உள்ளது.

  • ஆஸ்திரேலியாவில் உள்ள கான்பெராவில் நடைபெற்ற காமன்வெல்த் வாள்சண்டை சாம்பியன்ஷிப் போட்டியில் சீனியர் “சேபர்” பிரிவில் தமிழகத்தை சேர்ந்த சி.ஏ. பாவானி தேவி, இங்கிலாந்து வீராங்கனை எமிலி ராக்சை வென்று தங்கம் வென்று சாதனைப் படைத்துள்ளார்.
    • இதன் மூலம் காமன் வெல்த் வாள் சண்டை போட்டியில் தங்கம் வென்ற முதல் இந்தியர் (சீனியர் பிரிவில்) என்ற சாதனையை பவானி தேவி படைத்துள்ளார்.

  • லடாக்கின் ஹென்லியில் உள்ள இந்திய வானியல் ஆய்வு மையத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள, நோவா வெடிப்பை ஆய்வு செய்யும் திட்டத்தின் தொடர்ச்சியான, 0.7 மீட்டர் அளவுடைய GROWTH – India தொலைநோக்கியானது முதன்முறையாக தனது கண்டுபிடிப்பை பதிவு செய்துள்ளது.

  • இந்தியக் குடிமைப்பணி அதிகாரியான ஜலால் ஸ்ரீவஸ்தவா இந்தியாவின் உள்நாட்டு நீர்வழி ஆணையத்தின் (Inland Waterways Authority of India – IWAI) தலைவராக நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார். IWAI ஆனது மத்திய கப்பல், சாலைப் போக்குவரத்து மற்றும் நெடுஞ்சாலைத் துறை அமைச்சகத்தின் கீழ் செயல்படுகிறது.

NATIONAL NEWS

  • The United Nations has selected Uttar Pradesh’s Noida and Greater Noida to participate in its Global Sustainable Cities 2025 initiative. According to UN, the twin-cities in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, adjoining the national capital, have been selected in the “University City” category ahead of Mumbai and Bengaluru as the only invitee from India.

 

  • Lupin announced the launch of a chat bot named ‘ANYA‘ specially designed to provide medically verified information for health-related queries. ANYA is the first bot of its kind to be launched in India for disease awareness.
    • Launched at the 46th Annual Meeting of the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes, ANYA is an intelligent and patient-friendly chat bot trained to help patients with health-related concerns.

 

  • India has achieved a new spot on the Guinness World Records as 2,353 people, led by Bollywood actress and fitness enthusiast Shilpa Shetty Kundra, in Pune held the abdominal plank position for 60 seconds The initiative was organised by Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company at the Armed Forces Medical College ground in Pune.
    • India set the new record breaking the earlier record created by China where 1,779 people held a plank for 60 seconds at the Central Park in Lu’an, Anhui, China on March 18 in 2017.

 

  • Romania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Melescanu arrived in New Delhi on a four-day official visit to the country. His visit coincides with India and Romania completing 70 years of diplomatic relations. On November 26, Melescanu will be meeting External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan.
    • During the visit, the Romanian Foreign Minister is slated to deliver a lecture on ‘Going global vs. staying local: Romania’s agenda as a connector between Europe and Asia’ at the Observer Research Foundation, according to the MEA.

 

  • Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) notified the insertion of the item ‘Quadricycle’ as a ‘non transport’ vehicle under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. Earlier, these were only allowed for transport usage under the Act.

 

  • Delhi Government launched a dedicated Open Transit Data portal in the website www.otd.delhi.gov.in – to spot locations of cluster buses at intervals of 10 This portal was designed and developed by IIIT-Delhi. Thus, Delhi became the first city in the country to open up transit data of city buses.
    • It will also enable the government to install real-time Passenger Information Systems (PIS) or display boards at bus stops and terminals also providing the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) at any bus stop.

 

  • A three-day-long annual ‘Jangalmahal’ festival began in the adjoining forested areas of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia districts of West Bengal. Initiated and organized by the ‘Jangal Mahal Udyog’, the festival aims to revive and popularise the culture and heritage of Jangal Mahal.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

  • The 2-day 21st round of India-China Special Representatives border talks concluded at Dujiangyan near southwest China’s Chengdu city. This was held between: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval from the Indian side and Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councillor Wang Yi from the Chinese side.

 

ECONOMY

  • India ’s economic growth will slow down somewhat but remain robust, at close to 50% in 2019 and 2020, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has said in its 2018 Economic Outlook. India’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew 6.7% in 2017-18.
    • OECD projects GDP at market prices to grow 3% in 2019 and 7.4% in 2020 from 7.5% in 2018.

 

  • According to the 2017-18 annual report of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), NBFC sanctioned Mudra loans under PMMY, grew faster than banks in FY 2018. This is the first time that the bad loan data has been released by Micro Units Development & Refinance Agency (Mudra).
    • MUDRA in its last annual report stated that it has begun the process of tracking bad loans in the portfolio of Mudra loans.

 

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

  • Russia’s state space corporation, Roscosmos planned to venture into the Internet of Things (IoT) with the launch of a new satellite system named ‘Marathon’. The satellite system will be a part of Russia’s Sphere satellite constellation, which will be fully established by 2026. The Sphere constellation project, will involve the construction and deployment of 640 satellites.

 

AWARDS

  • State-run Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) won the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)-Exim Bank Business Excellence Award and the jury’s commendation for being a role-model organisation. The award is the highest recognition in the CII-Exim Bank Award for Business Excellence, instituted by the CII and the Export-Import Bank of India to enhance the competitiveness of India Inc.
    • BEL Chairman and Managing Director V. Gowtama received the award at the Quality Summit, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Bengaluru.

 

SPORTS

  • India’s A. Bhavani Devi won the gold medal in the Sabre event in the Senior Commonwealth Fencing Championship 2018 held in Canberra, Australia. Bhavani Devi is the first Indian to win a gold medal in the Commonwealth Championship. She defeated England’s Emily Ruaux 15-12 in the final.

 

IMPORTANT DAYS

  • International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women – 25th November
    • The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The premise of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence.
    • The Orange-themed event was organised by the United Nations Women, along with the UN in India, as part of the UN Secretary General’s UNiTE campaign that is set to continue till the International Day of Human Rights on December 10.
    • The event, which was organised under the theme ‘Orange The World: #HearMeToo’, focused on women and girls who continue to experience violence and abuse, which is often overlooked, normalized, justified and made invisible.
