கேரள மாநில அரசானது முதல் முறையாக, அதிவேக படகை ஆற்றுவழி போக்குவரத்தில், எர்ணாகுளம் – கோட்டயம் – ஆலப்புழா இடையே இயக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இப்போக்குவரத்திற்கு வீகா 120 என்ற அதிநவீன படகு பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது. இது 25 கி.மீ/மணி என்ற வேகத்தில் பயணிக்கக்கூடியது.

இங்கிலாந்து வரலாற்றில் முதன்முறையாக, ரோஸ் எட்கிலே (Rose Edgley) என்பவர், கென்டிஷ் என்ற இடத்தில் இருந்து சுமார் 3200 கி.மீ. தூரத்தை 157 நாட்கள் நீந்தி மார்க்கேட் என்னுமிடத்தை அடைந்து சாதனை படைத்துள்ளார்.

கடலுக்குள் இருந்து ஏவுகணை செலுத்தும் திறன் படைத்த நீர்மூழ்கி கப்பலான ஐஎன்எஸ் – அரிஹந்த் (INS – Arihant) முழுமையான செயல்பாட்டுடன் கடற்படையில் இணைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 6 ஆயிரம் டன் எடை கொண்ட இந்த நீர்மூழ்கி கப்பல் மூலம் கடலுக்குள் எந்தப் பகுதியிலிருந்தும் ஏவுகணையை செலுத்த முடியும்.
ஆழ்கடலில் மூழ்கியிருக்கும் இந்த கப்பலை எளிதில் கண்டுபிடிக்க முடியாது.

2015ம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் மாதம் ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் பொதுச் சபையில் எடுக்கப்பட்ட முடிவின் படி, நவம்பர் 5ம் தேதியை உலக சுனாமி விழிப்புணர்வு தினமாக கொண்டாடுவது என முடிவெடுக்கப்பட்டது.

The 49th International Film Festival of India, IFFI 2018 will be held in Goa from 20th to 28th of November. The festival will showcase 212 films from over 68 countries which reflects the diversity of taste. International Competition section has 15 films out of which three are Indian.
Information and Broadcasting Ministry stated that Festival will open with World Premiere of The Aspern Papers with international star cast.
India has been elected as a member of the International Telecommunications Union-ITU Council for another four-year term from 2019 to 2022. The elections to the Council were held during the ongoing ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2018 at Dubai.
India secured 165 votes and ranked third among the 13 countries elected to the council from the Asia-Australasia region, and eighth among the 48 countries elected to the council globally. The ITU has 193 member states who elect representatives to the Council.
INS Arihant, India’s first nuclear ballistic missile submarine, has completed its first “deterrence patrol”. The 6,000-tonne INS Arihant, under development for three decades under a highly classified programme, comes under the direct control of the Nuclear Command Authority headed by PM Modi.
The INS Arihant can now be considered a fully functional underwater ballistic missile delivery platform.
The National Green Tribunal has ordered a four-member committee to conduct an inspection near the Polavaram dam in Andhra Pradesh and submit a report after a plea alleged that muck was being dumped illegally at the site.
A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel constituted a committee comprising representatives of the Central Pollution Control Board, additional principal chief conservator of forests, the State Pollution Control Board and the district magistrate to give a report on the factual aspects.

During the visit of Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu, India has agreed for the deputation of experts in five fields to assist Zimbabwe. Around 6 agreements in various fields were signed in areas including Mining, Visa waiver, Broadcasting and Culture. India will extend Line of credits of more than 350 million US Dollars to Zimbabwe for two power projects and a drinking water project.
APPOINTMENT
Uzbekistan’s businessman Gafur Rakhimov was elected president of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) despite fears that his appointment could lead to the sport’s ejection from the Olympic Games.
Rakhimov won 86 of the 134 second-round votes collected by AIBA officials in Moscow to beat his only opponent, former boxer Serik Konakbayev of Kazakhstan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced successful completion of first deterrence patrol of the Indian nuclear submarine INS Arihant. INS Arihant, is a 6,000-tonne ship that comes under the direct control of the Nuclear Command Authority headed by PM Modi.
Thus the success of INS Arihant places India in the league of the few countries that can design, construct and operate Strategic Strike Nuclear Submarines (SSBN).
