• இந்திய கடற்படைக்கு 10 “காமோவ் கா-31” (Kamov ka – 31) என்னும் வான்வழி ஆரம்ப எச்சரிக்கை மற்றும் கட்டுப்பாடு ஹெலிகாப்டர்களை வாங்குவதற்கான ஒப்புதலை பாதுகாப்பு அமைச்சகம் அளித்துள்ளது.
  • இதனுள் INS விக்ராண்ட் (INS Vikrant) மற்றும் கிரிகோரோவிச் வகை போர்க்கப்பல்களும் அடங்கும் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது மற்றும் இதற்காக ரூ. 3600 கோடி செலவாகும் என்று கணக்கிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

 

 

• ஜீலை 9 முதல் ஜீலை 16, 2019 க்குள் சந்திராயன் விண்கலத்தை விண்ணில் ஏய்துவதற்கான நடவடிக்கை நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. மற்றும் இது நிலவில் செப்டம்பர் – 6, 2019 அன்று தரையிரங்கும் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
  • இந்தியாவின் இரண்டாவது திட்டமான இது மூன்று தொகுதிகளாக பிரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • ஆர்பிட்டர், லேண்டர் (விக்ரம்) மற்றும் ரோவர் (பிரக்யான்) என்பதாகும்.

• இந்தியா, பிரேசில் மற்றும் தென்னாப்பிரிக்கா (IBSA) ஷெர்பாஸ் கூட்டம் மே 3 முதல் மே 5, 2019 வரை கோச்சினில் நடைபெற்றது.
  • IBSA ஷெர்பாஸ் சந்திப்பிற்கு முன்னதாக, 9வது IBSA முத்தரப்பு மந்திரிசபை கூட்டம் அதே இடத்திலேயே நடந்தது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

 

 

• பிரிட்டன், கனடா, பிரான்ஸ், ஜெர்மனி, இத்தாலி, ஜப்பான் மற்றும் அமெரிக்கா ஆகிய நாடுகளின் சுற்றுசூழல் அமைச்சர்கள் பங்குபெறும் G7-இன் இரண்டு நாள் கூட்டம் பிரான்ஸின் மெட்ஸில் நடைபெற்றது.

  • முதலிடத்தில் உள்ளார் செர்பியாவின் ஜோகோவிச். இரண்டாவது இடத்தில் நடால் உள்ளார். கிரீஸ் வீரர் சிட்சிபாஸ் 9-ஆவது இடத்துக்கு முன்னேறினார்.

• ஜப்பானின் தனியார் அமைப்பான இன்டெர்ஸ்டெல்லர் (Interstellar) டெக்னாலஜி அதனுடைய முதலாம் ராக்கெட்டான “மோமோ-3” (Momo – 3) ஐ வெற்றிகரமாக விண்ணில் ஏய்தியுள்ளது.
  • ஆளில்லா ராக்கெட்டான “மோமோ-3” ஹொக்கைடோ ஏவுதளத்திலிருந்து ஏய்தப்பட்டது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

 

 

வர்த்தக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• மிகவும் மதிப்புமிக்க வங்கி என்னும் பட்டியலில் முதல் முறையாக தனியார் வங்கியான YES வங்கி 3 நிலைகள் பி;ன்தள்ளி 10-வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது
  • இந்தப் பட்டியலின் முதலிடத்தில் HDFC வங்கி இருப்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

NATIONAL NEWS

• Bhushan Patil, president at Paytm, has quit the company. Patil, who joined Paytm after a five year stint with Alibaba, had initially joined the Noida-based company to look after its cross border commerce business.
  • With Paytm focusing on its domestic commerce business, he was one of the key executives for Paytm Mall. Patil joined Paytm in March 2016.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• London & Partners (L&P), the Mayor of London’s promotional agency, in the new report analysis, based on FDI (Foreign Direct Investments) Markets and FDI Intelligence data stated that in 2018, the UK became the top-most nation to attract Indian FDI with 52 projects. US attracted Indian FDI with 51 projects while the UAE with 32 projects.

 

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

• Japanese aerospace start-up Interstellar Technology Inc. has successfully launched a first privately developed rocket ‘Momo-3’ into space. The unmanned rocket launched from its test site in Taiki on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido and it reached about 110 km in altitude before falling into the Pacific Ocean after 10 minutes of flight time.

 

ECONOMY

• The Asia-Pacific region is expected to power ahead growing at 7% this year but escalating trade tensions are a source of worry, according to Takehiko Nakao, President and Chairperson, Asian Development Bank.
  • Addressing the opening session of the Board of Governors at ADB’s 52nd Annual Meeting in Nadi, Fiji. Nakao said that consumer and investor behaviour could be undermined by trade tensions between countries.

 

SPORTS

• Ace Indian squash players Saurav Ghoshal and Joshna Chinappa won their respective Asian Individual Squash Championship titles in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Saurav Ghoshal defeated Leo Au Chun Ming of Hong Kong.
  • Ghoshal who had become the first Indian male player to reach top ten of the world rankings is the finalist of the previous edition.

 

APPOINTMENTS

• The Chief Economic Adviser (CEA), Krishnamurthy Subramanian has been included as the member of the Advisory Council to the 15th Finance Commission headed by N.K. Singh. The Advisory Council now has 12 members after inclusion of Chief Economic Adviser Dr. Krishnamurthy Subramanian.

 

BOOKS

• Shahid Afridi, former captain of the ‘Pakistan national cricket team‘ has written his autobiography titled, ‘Game Changer’ which will unveil answers to the much-contemplated questions about him. The book has been published by Harper Collin’s India.
  • Afridi is popularly known as ‘Boom Boom’ and holds the world record for the fastest ODI (One Day International) century in 37

 

IMPORTANT DAYS

• World Laughter Day is observed on the first Sunday of May every year and this year first Sunday of May coincide with May 5. The day was first celebrated on May 10, 1998, in Mumbai and arranged by Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga Movement.
