ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் மே 20 ஆம் தேதி உலக அளவியல் (Metrology) தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது

Kerala became the first state to tap into masala bond market by listing the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB)’s masala bond worth of USD 312 million (Rs 2,150 crore) in London Stock Exchange (LSE)’s International Securities Market (ISM).
It has a fixed interest rate of 723% per annum. The bond issue builds on the Kerala government’s focus to get multinational corporations to invest in the state.
Recently, centre has issued a “drought advisory” to six states named Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu due to water storage in dams dropped to a “critical level”. Centre has asked these 6 six states to use water judiciously.

A meeting on the development of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, also known as Trans-Afghanistan pipeline held in Turkmenistan recently.
Groundbreaking of the TAPI gas pipeline will be held in Pakistan in October this year.

Recently, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced to conduct seven Mega Missions for upcoming 10 years and also prepared a roadmap for the next 30 years.
The seven Mega Missions includes India’s second moon mission Chandrayaan-2, XPoSaT and Aditya L-1.

Australian PM Scott Morrison’s Liberal-National Coalition won federal elections over the opposition Labor Party. The polling was held for 151 seats in the House of Representatives.

World Metrology Day was observed on May 20, 2019 with a theme “The International System of Units – Fundamentally better”.
This theme was chosen because last year on 16th November 2018, the General Conference on Weights and Measures agreed to revise the International System of Units (SI).
