• தற்பொழுது, சென்னை மாநகரப் போக்குவரத்துக் கழகப் பேருந்துகளைச் ‘சலோ’ செயலியின் உதவியுடன் கைபேசியில் கண்காணிக்க முடியும்.
  • இந்தச் செயலியானது அருகிலுள்ள பேருந்து நிறுத்தங்கள் குறித்தத் தகவல்களையும் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட எந்தவொரு நிறுத்தத்திற்கும் வருவதற்குத் திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ள அடுத்த ஐந்து பெருநகரப் போக்குவரத்துக் கழக (Metropolitan Transport Corporation – MTC) பேருந்துகள் குறித்த விவரங்களையும் அளிக்கும்.

• ‘பிரக்யான் மாநாடு – 2020’ என்ற இந்திய இராணுவ சர்வதேச கருத்தரங்கானது தரைவழிப் போர் ஆய்வு மையத்தினால் (CLAWS – Centre for Land Warfare Studies)ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டது.
  • இந்த நிகழ்வானது தேசிய மற்றும் சர்வதேச இராணுவ வல்லுநர்களுக்கு ‘தரைவழிப் போரின் சிறப்பியல்புகளை மாற்றுதல் மற்றும் இராணுவத்தின் மீதான அதன் தாக்கம்’ என்ற தலைப்பில் விவாதிப்பதற்கான ஒரு தளத்தை உருவாக்குகின்றது.

    • தரைவழிப் போர் ஆய்வு மையத்தினால் (CLAWS – Centre for Land Warfare Studies)ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்ட இந்தக் கருத்தரங்கமானது புது தில்லியில் தொடங்கியது.

  • புழுக்களுக்கும், ஆய்வகத்தில் பிளாஸ்டிக்கை கொடுத்து, பெருமளவில் பிளாஸ்டிக் குப்பையை ஆல்கஹாலாக மாற்ற முடியும் என, பிராண்டன் பல்கலைக்கழக ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் கருதுகின்றனர்.

• On March 11, India’s largest lender State Bank of India decided to waive maintenance of Average Monthly Balance (AMB) for all Savings Bank Accounts. “This initiative will further boost the efforts to promote financial inclusion in the country”
  • The charges on maintaining AMB are now waived off on all 51 crore SBI savings bank accounts.

• On March 12, 2020, Global Animal Protection Index 2020 was released by World Animal Protection, an international animal welfare charity. India was ranked second in the index.

• Parliament passed the Mineral Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020, on 12 March. The Bill will replace the ordinance passed for the amendment of the Mines & Mineral (Development and Regulation) Act 1957 and the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act, 2015.
  • The Bill was already passed by Lok Sabha on 6 March 2020. The Bill was introduced by the Union Minister of Coal & Mines Sh. Pralhad Joshi.

• On March 11, 2020 the World Economic Forum (WEF) announced its new list of 115 Young Global Leaders (YGL), where 5 Indians Byju Raveendran, Gaurav Gupta, Swapan Mehra, Vinati Mutreja & Tara Singh Vachani are named in the list.
  • WEF stated that the change makers are using their power of under 40’s to change the world, from reforming health systems to investigating corruption in 52 countries.

APPOINTMENTS

• Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Haryana cadre Surjit Singh Deswal took over the additional charge of Director General (DG) of Border Security Force (BSF). Deswal, a 1984-batch IPS officer, is currently the Director-General of Indo-Tibet Border Police.
  • He has succeeded Director-General Vivek Johri, who has been appointed Director-General of Madhya Pradesh Police.
