தேசிய நிகழ்வுகள்
- இந்தியாவில் முதல் முறையாக டெல்லி மெட்ரோ இரயிலில் கழிவுப் பொருட்களில் இருந்து மின்சாரம் தயாரிக்கும் திட்டத்தை அறிமுகப்படுத்தியுள்ளனர்.
- காஜ்பூரில் (உ.பி) அமைக்கப்பட்ட கழிவுப் பொருட்களில் இருந்து உற்பத்தி செய்யப்படும் 12 மெகாவாட் மின்சாரத்திலிருந்து DMRC 2 மெகாவாட் மின்சாரம் பெறத் தொடங்கியுள்ளது.
- ராஜூவ் குமார் மீண்டும் நிதி ஆயோக்கின் (NITI Aayog) துணைத் தலைவராக நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
- நிதி ஆயோக்கில், விஞ்ஞானி வி.கே. சரஸ்வத், விவசாய பொருளாதார நிபுணர் ரமேஷ் சந்த் மற்றும் டாக்டர் வி.கே. பால் ஆகியோர் முழு நேர உறுப்பினர்களாக தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
- புது டெல்லியிலுள்ள தேசிய அருங்காட்சியகத்தில், “ஹிமாச்சலிக் நாட்டுப்புற கலை அறியப்படாத தலைவர்கள்”(“Unknown Masterpieces of Himachal Folk Art”) கண்காட்சியை, கலாச்சார மற்றும் சுற்றுலாத்துறை அமைச்சர், பிரஹலாத் சிங் படேல் தொடங்கி வைத்தார்.
- போர்ட் வில்லியம்ஸ் என்பது சிலியின் நவரினோ தீவில் உள்ள பிரதான குடியேற்றம், துறைமுகம் மற்றும் கடற்படைத் தளமாகும். அண்மையில், சிலி நாட்டு அதிகாரிகள் போர்ட் வில்லியம்ஸ் நகரை குக்கிராமம் என்னும் நிலையிலிருந்து நகரம் என்னும் நிலைக்கு உயர்த்திய பின், அது உலகின் தென்கோடி நகரமாக மாறியது. அர்ஜென்டினா மாகாணத்தின் தியேரா தேல் பியூகோவின் தலைநகரான உஷீவியா, இந்த அறிவிப்புக்கு முன்பு வரை உலகின் தென்கோடி நகரமாக இருந்து வந்தது.

- 2019 FIFA மகளிர் உலகக் கோப்பையின் 8வது பதிப்பாகும். இது ஜூலை 7, முதல் நடைபெறவுள்ளது.

- இந்திய ரிசர்வ் வங்கி, ஜூன் 3 முதல் 7 வரை நாடு முழுவதும் நடப்பாண்டு நிதியியல் கல்வி வாரத்தை கடைப்பிடிக்கவுள்ளது. “Farmers and How they Benefit by being a Part of The Formal Banking System – விவசாயிகள் மற்றும் முiயான வங்கியியல் அமைப்பின் கீழ் விவசாயிகள் பெறும் நன்மை” என்பது நடப்பாண்டில் வரும் இவ்வாரத்துக்கான கருப்பொருளாகும்.

NATIONAL NEWS
- Culture Minister Prahalad Singh Patel inaugurated the exhibition titled ‘Unknown Masterpieces of Himachal Folk Art’ at National Museum in New Delhi.
- The Exhibition is being jointly organised by the National Museum and Home of Folk Art, Gurugram in which more than 240 artefacts will be on display.
- Our external Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will embark on a two-day visit to Bhutan. This is Mr Jaishankar’s first overseas visit after assuming charge of the Ministry.
- During the visit, Mr Jaishankar will call on Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering and meet his counterpart Tandi Dorji.
- The Reserve bank of India in its bi-monthly monetary policy review today reduced the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.75 per cent from 6.0 per cent with immediate effect.
- Consequently, the reverse repo rate stands adjusted to 5.50 per cent, and the marginal standing facility rate and the Bank Rate to 6.0 per cent.
INTERNATIONAL NEWS
- The Indian and French air forces will carry out a two-week-long mega air exercise beginning July 1 in France.
- A fleet of Sukhoi 30 fighter jets of the Indian Air Force will engage in dogfights with France’s Rafale multi role aircraft in simulated scenarios as part of the ‘Garuda’ exercise.
APPOINTMENTS
- Kumar Iyer has been appointed by the UK government as the Chief Economist of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
- He is the first Indian-origin member of the department’s management board.
- The Thailand Parliament has elected 2014 coup leader Prayuth Chan-ocha as Prime Minister.
- The military-backed party that nominated Prayuth won the second-highest number of seats in the House of Representatives in a general election in March.

- Cricket World Cup: The Indian Challenge” – a book on the history of the tournament from an Indian perspective by veteran broadcaster and writer Ashis Ray – has been formally unveiled by the chief executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board, Tom Harrison.
