• சர்வதேச உணவு இந்தியா (WFI) 2019இ 2019 நவம்பர் 1 – 4 முதல் புதுடெல்லியில் உள்ள விஜியன் பவன் மற்றும் ராஜ்பத் புல்வெளிகளில் நடைபெறும் என்று மத்திய உணவு பதப்படுத்தும் தொழில்கள் அமைச்சர் திருமதி ஹர்சிம்ரத் கவுர் பாடல் அறிவித்தார்.
  • இது உணவு பதப்படுத்தும் துறையில் உள்ள உலகளாவிய மற்றும் உள்நாட்டு பங்குதாரர்களின் மிகப்பெரிய கூட்டமாக இருக்கும்
  • இது WFI இன் இரண்டாவது பதிப்பாக இருக்கும், முதலில் 2017 இல் நடைபெற்றது
  • இந்த நிகழ்வின் முழக்கம் “வளர்ச்சிக்கு ஊக்கமளிப்பதை கூட்டுகிறது”.

 

• ஃபேஸ்புக் தனது லிப்ரா என்ற டிஜிட்டல் நாணயத்தை அறிவித்துள்ளது.

• பலமுறை உலக சாம்பியன் பட்டம் வென்ற பீட்டர் கில்கிரிஸ்ட் இந்தியாவின் சவுரப் கோத்தாரியை இறுதிப் போட்டியில் வீழ்த்தி 2019 ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான பசிபிக் சர்வதேச பில்லியர்ட்ஸ் சாம்பியன்ஷிப் பட்டத்தினை வென்றார்.
  • இந்தப் போட்டியானது ஆஸ்திரேலியாவின் மெல்போர்னில் நடத்தப்பட்டது என்பது குறிப்பிடதக்கது

NATIONAL NEWS

• Mann Ki Baat Indian radio programme hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which he addresses the people of the nation on All India Radio, DD National and DD News. Mann Ki Baat is to resume on June 30.
  • The programme aims to deliver the Prime Minister’s voice to the general masses of India. It also aims to spread joy, positivity and celebrate the strength of 130 crore Indians.

 

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the Centre is to set up a high-level task force for agri reforms. The decision was made in the fifth meeting of the NITI Aayog governing council.
  • The task force is for undertaking structural reforms in agriculture, including strengthening logistics, produce marketing, food processing as well as changes to the Essential Commodities Act.

 

• The Intersessional meeting of Kimberley Process (KP) will be hosted by India from 17th to 21st June 2019 in Mumbai.
  • Besides this, two special forums regarding Diamond Terminology and Artisanal Mining – Small Steps to Larger Outcomes, will be held during the Intersessional.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

• After nearly 16 years of exploring the cosmos in infrared light, NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope will be switched off permanently on Jan. 30, 2020.
  • Spitzer is a small but transformational observatory. It captures infrared light, which is often emitted by “warm” objects that aren’t quite hot enough to radiate visible light.

APPOINTMENTS

• President Ram NathKovind swore in the seven-term member of Parliament Virendra Kumar as the Protem Speaker of Lok Sabha.As soon as a new speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha is elected, his role will cease to exist.
  • As pro-tem speaker, Virendra Kumar will preside over the first sitting of the Lok Sabha and administer the oath to the newly elected MPs

AWARDS

• Twenty-nine journalists from print and electronic media were felicitated with Matri Shree Media Awards for their contribution towards journalism.Apart from media personalities, a social activist has also presented the Bharat Mata shield at the 44th Matri Shree media award ceremony
  • The Matri Shree Media Awards was constituted during the Emergency.
