• தமிழ்நாட்டில், சென்னை நந்தம்பாக்கம் வர்த்தக மையத்தில், 2-வது உலக முதலீட்டாளர்கள் மாநாடு – 2019 (Tamil Nadu Global Investor Meet 2019), ஜனவரி 23 அன்று தொடங்குகிறது.
  • தமிழ்நாட்டில் 2015 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதன் முறையாக “உலக முதலீட்டாளர்கள் மாநாடு” நடத்தப்பட்டது.

 

 

இந்திய நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• 25-வது “தரைவழி மற்றும் செயற்கைக்கோள் ஒளிபரப்பு மீதான சர்வதேச மாநாடு” மற்றும் “BES கண்காட்சி” ஆகியவை புதுடெல்லியில் நடைபெற்றது.
  • கருத்துரு : தகவல் தொழில்நுட்ப உலகில் அடுத்த தலைமுறை ஒளிபரப்பு என்பதாகும்.

 

 

உலக நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• நகர்ப்புற சூழலில் “கட்டிடக்கலை பாரம்பரியத்தை பாதுகாக்கும், நகரம்” குறித்த ஆய்வில், பிரேசிலின் “ரியோ டி ஜெனீரோ” நகரை “கட்டிடக் கலையின் உலகத் தலைநகராக” யுனெஸ்கோ அறிவுத்துள்ளது.
  • யுனெஸ்கோ ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்ட நாள் – 16 நவம்பர் 1945
  • யுனெஸ்கோவின் தலைமையகம் – பாரிஸ் (பிரான்ஸ்).

 

 

• “இந்திய – நேபாள தொழில் முனைவோர்களை” ஊக்குவிப்பதற்கான, “இந்திய – நேபாள தொழில் முனைவோர் மாநாடு 2019” (India, Nepal Entrepreneurship Conclave 2019), நேபாளத்தின் தலைநகர் காத்மண்டு நகரில் நடைபெற்றுள்ளது.

 

 

விளையாட்டு நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• புனே (மகாராஷ்டிரா) நகரில் நடைபெற்ற, இரண்டாவது “கேலோ – இந்தியா இளையோர் விளையாட்டு போட்டியில்”(Khelo Inida Youth Games – 2019) மகாராஷ்டிரா மாநிலம் 85 தங்கம் உட்பட மொத்தம் 228 பதக்கங்கள் குவித்து சாம்பியன்ஷிப் பட்டத்தை வென்றுள்ளது.
  • தமிழகம் 27 தங்கப்பதக்கத்துடன் ஐந்தாவது இடத்தை பிடித்துள்ளது.

 

 

விருதுகள்

 

• அமெரிக்காவில் “சீக்கியர்களுக்கு எதிராக இருந்த கொள்கைகளுக்கு” எதிராக பிரச்சாரம் செய்த இந்திய அமெரிக்கரும் சீக்கியருமான “குரிந்தர் சிங் கல்சா” – விற்கு, இன்டியானா நாளிதழ், “ரோசா பார்க்ஸ் முன்னோடி விருதை (Rosa Parks Award – 2019) வழங்கி கௌரவித்துள்ளது.

• ஸ்வீடன் நாட்டின் புதிய பிரதமராக இடதுசாரி சோஷியலிஸ்ட் ஜனநாயகக் கட்சியின் தலைவர் “ஸ்டீஃபன் லோஃப்வென்” (Stefan Lofven) நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

• சர்வதேச முகவாண்மை நிறுவனமான பி.டபிள்யூ.சி வெளியிட்டுள்ள, “உலக நாடுகளின் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சிப் பட்டியலில்” இந்தியா 5-வது இடத்தைப் பிடித்துள்ளது.
  • இப்பட்டியலில் அமெரிக்கா முதலிடத்திலும் சீனா 2-வது இடத்திலும் உள்ளது. ஜப்பான், ஜெர்மனி முறையே 3 மற்றும் 4வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது.
  • கடந்த ஆண்டு இந்தியா 7வது இடத்தில் இருந்தது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

 

 

புத்தகங்கள்

 

• Line On Fire: Cease Fire Violation and India – Pakistan Escalation Dynamics – என்ற புத்தகம், ஹேப்பிமேன் ஜேகாப் என்பவரால் எழுதப்பட்டு சமீபத்தில் வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

NATIONAL NEWS

• The Baba Kalyani led committee constituted by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to study the existing Special Economic Zone (SEZ) policy of India submitted its report to Union Minister for Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu in New Delhi.
  • The report says that if India is going to become a USD 5 trillion economy by 2025 then the current environment of manufacturing competitiveness and services has to undergo a basic paradigm shift.

 

• Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate first inter-state bridge in Jammu and Kashmir. It was built at a cost of Rs 150 crore in a span of three and a half years linking areas of Katthua district with Punjab.
  • The bridge also called as Keediyan-Gandiyal bridge is 1.2 km-long on the river Ravi

 

• The 4th International Exhibition & Conference on Steel Industry, India Steel 2019 Exhibition and Conference was organised by Ministry of Steel in association with Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at NSE Complex Goregaon, Mumbai.
  • The theme of the event is “Balancing Steel Demand & Supply Dynamics: Building a New India”.

 

• Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Pema Khandu declared Pakke Paga Hornbill Festival (PPHF) as the “State Festival” during a valedictory ceremony of the fourth edition of the festival at Seijosa in East Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Pakke Paga Hornbill Festival (PPHF) is only conservation festival of Arunachal Pradesh.

 

• Andhra Pradesh government decided to give only five per cent reservation to the economically weaker sections (EWS) under the Centre’s 10 per cent quota, setting aside the rest to the upper caste Kapus in its capital city Amaravathi

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• India and Sri Lanka signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide modern infrastructural facilities to Swami Vipulananda Institute of Aesthetic Studies of Eastern University in Batticaloa district of Sri Lanka.
  • The project involves refurbishment of the auditorium and construction of a modern building complex with recording cum editing facilities and supply vehicles to the institute through a grant of over 27 crore Sri Lankan rupees from the Government of India.

 

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

• Maharashtra in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO) -recommended triple-drug therapy for lymphatic filariasis to speed up elimination of the disease in Nagpur. This disease is transmitted through mosquitoes.
  • Actor Swapnil Joshi is assigned as brand ambassador for this project.

 

ECONOMY

• INSEAD business school in partnership with Tata Communications and Adecco Group released the 6th edition of Global Talent Competitive Index (GTCI) 2019 which stated that India has moved up one position to rank 80th on the Global Talent Competitive Index 2019 ranking.
  • The top 5 countries in the index included Switzerland followed by Singapore, the US, Norway and Denmark.

 

AWARDS

• US-based Indian poet Ranjani Murali received the ‘Woman’s Voice Award’ at the Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival (AKLF).The award carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh apart from a citation.
  • The objective of the award – ‘Prabha Khaitan Womans Voice Award’ – is to recognise and encourage creative writing by women in India, to create a forum for their work and to support the publication of their writing.

 

• Jallikattu’ as a symbol of the valour and courage of the Tamil people. A grand “jallikattu” (bull-taming) event held in Pudukkottai and this event entered the world record for the maximum number of bulls released into the sport arena.
  • This event had the participation of 1,354 bulls and 424 tamers.

 

SPORTS

• Virat Kohli became the first player to bag all top three ICC Awards in a single year. He won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Cricketer of the Year, the ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year and the ICC ODI Player of the year for his performance in 2018.

 

• 21-year Old Wicketkeeper batsman, Rishabh Pant was named the “International Cricket Council (ICC) Emerging Player of the year” for his brilliant performance in Test Cricket in 2018.

 

BOOKS & AUTHORS

• Vice President Venkaiah Naidu launched the book ‘Universal Brotherhood Through Yoga’ in New Delhi.
  • The book is compiled by Bharatiya Sanskrit Pitham.
