• சென்னை மாவட்டத்தில் ஏழைப் பெண்களுக்கு ரூ.7.63 கோடியில் திருமண நிதி உதவி திட்டம் வழங்கும் நிகழ்ச்சி நடைபெற்றது.
  • தமிழக அரசின் மூவலூர் இராமாமிர்தம் அம்மையார் நினைவு திருமண நிதி உதவி திட்டத்தின் கீழ் நிதியுதவி அளிக்கப்பட்டது.
  • இதே போன்று 10-ம் வகுப்பு படித்த ஏழைப் பெண்களுக்கு “தாலிக்கு தங்கம்” திட்டத்தின் கீழ் 8 கிராம் தங்கமும் 25,000 பணமும் வழங்கப்பட்டது.

NATIONAL NEWS

• The Income Tax Department announced that it is mandatory to link the PAN with Aadhaar by the end of 2019 on 15 December.
  • It announced that the deadline for the linking of the Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar was extended till 31 December by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) through an order issued in September 2019.
  • Related Keys:
    • UIDAI is recognized as a statutory authority. It was set up on 12 July 2016 by the Government under the provisions of the Aadhaar Act 2016.
    • UIDAI is headquartered in New Delhi. It has around 8 regional offices in India. It is responsible for the enrollment, authentication, and management of all stages in the development of the Aadhaar life cycle.

 

 

• Exercise INDRA-2019 is the second edition of Joint Tri-Services
  • Exercise between the Indian Armed Forces and the Russian Armed Forces. It is being conducted from 10-20 December 2019 simultaneously at Pune and Gwalior for Air Force elements.
  • Related Keys:
    • Indian Air Force (IAF) is undertaking service-specific and joint missions during the exercise.
    • The Russian Federation Air Force (RFAF) element is also participating in the exercise along with IAF counterparts.

BANKING & FINANCE NEWS

• The fifth meeting of the Economic Advisory Council of the Fifteenth Finance Commission (XVFC) was held in New Delhi on 16 December 2019.
  • The meeting included discussions related to GST stabilization and the ways to improve tax collection for additional resource mobilization.

    • Advisory Council has been informed to submit the 2020-21 report.
    • The Commission is preparing the report for the 2021-26 period.
    • Advisory Council Members were updated by the Commission regarding the additional terms of reference extending the term of XVFC till October 2020.
    • It also plans to make recommendations on Goods and Services Tax (GST). It will be under consideration by the GST Council.

 

 

 

• State Bank of India (SBI) has signed a loan agreement with KfW, the German development bank, worth $277 million on 16 December 2019.
  • The arrangement of the loan and the grant facilities was faciletated by SBI’s investment banking subsidiary SBI Capital Markets Ltd.
  • Related Keys:
    • The aim of the agreement was to establish an energy-efficient housing programme in India.
    • The facility was signed after an agreement on financial cooperation between the two governments in October 2019.
    • The programme will be a part of Indo-German Development Cooperation which is guided by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

• Sanjiv Kapoor stepped down as the Chief Commercial Officer of Vistara
  • Vistara’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Sanjiv Kapoor has resigned from the post on 16 December 2019. He will be working with the airline till 31 December 2019. Kapoor had resigned due to personal reasons. Vinod Kannan, Vistara’s Chief Strategy Officer will replace as the CCO.
