பாரம்பரிய நெல் ரகங்களை மீட்டெடுத்து விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்திய நெல் ஜெயராமன், டிசம்பர் 06 அன்று காலமானார். அவருக்கு வயது 50.
திருவாரூர் மாவட்டம் திருத்துறைப்பூண்டி அடுத்த கட்டிமேடுவில் 1968ல் பிறந்தவர் நெல் ஜெயராமன். நம்மாழ்வாரை பின்பற்றி இயற்கை விவசாயத்தை பாதுகாக்க போராடியவர் நெல் ஜெயராமன். 174 அரியவகை நெல்விதைகளை சேகரித்ததுடன் மரபணு மாற்ற விதை திட்டங்களை எதிர்த்தவர் ஜெயராமன்.
பாரம்பரிய நெல் வகைகளை காப்பாற்றியதற்காக ஜெயராமன் தேசிய, மாநில விருதுகளை பெற்றுள்ளார். தமிழக இயற்கை உழவர் இயக்கம், நமது நெல்லை காப்போம் அமைப்பை நடத்தி வந்தவர் நெல் ஜெயராமன். 12 ஆண்டாக நெல் திருவிழாவை நடத்திய ஜெயராமனுக்கு சித்ரா என்ற மனைவியும், 11 வயதில் ஒரு மகனும் உள்ளனர்.
தமிழ்நாடு வேளாண்மை துறையிலிருந்து 2012 மற்றும் 2013 ஆம் ஆண்டுகளில் சிறந்த கரிம விவசாயி விருதினை ஜெயராம் பெற்றுள்ளார்.
2013இல் அவர் தேசிய நேஷன் அறக்கட்டளை (NIF) இன் சிறந்த மரபணு இரட்சகராக விருதினைப் பெற்றார். இவ்விருதினை அவர் இந்திய ஜனாதிபதியிடமிருந்து பெற்றுள்ளார்.

இந்தியாவில் அதிக சம்பளம் வாங்கும் பிரபலங்கள் பட்டியலில் சல்மான் கான் முதலிடம் பிடித்துள்ளார்.
இந்தியாவில் அதிகம் சம்பாதிக்கும் பிரபலங்களின் பட்டியலை ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் போர்ப்ஸ் பத்திரிக்கை வெளியிட்டு வருகிறது. அந்த வகையில், 2018ம் ஆண்டுக்கான நூறு பேர் கொண்ட பட்டியல் வெளியாகி இருக்கிறது.
இந்த பட்டியலில் பிரபல பாலிவுட் நடிகர் சல்மான் கான் தொடர்ந்து மூன்றாவது ஆண்டாக முதலிடத்தை தக்கவைத்துக் கொண்டுள்ளார். சல்மான் கான் இந்த ஆண்டில் ரூ.253.35 கோடி வருமானம் ஈட்டியுள்ளார்.
சல்மான் கானைத் தொடர்ந்து இந்திய கிரிக்கெட் அணி கேப்டன் விராத் கோலி (ரூ.228.09 கோடி) இரண்டாவது இடத்திலும், அக்ஷய் குமார் (ரூ.185 கோடி) மூன்றாவது இடத்திலும் உள்ளனர்.
இந்தப் பட்டியலில் நடிகை தீபிகா படுகோனே (ரூ.112.8 கோடி) 4வது இடம் பிடித்துள்ளார். இதன்மூலம் முதல் 5 இடங்களுக்குள் முன்னேறிய பெண் பிரபலம் என்ற பெருமை தீபிகாவுக்கு கிடைத்துள்ளது.
தீபிகாவை தொடர்ந்து தோணி (ரூ.101.77 கோடி) 5வது இடத்திலும், அமீர் கான் (ரூ.97.5 கோடி), அமித்தாப் பச்சன் (ரூ.96.17 கோடி), ரன்வீர் சிங் (ரூ.86.67 கோடி), சச்சின் டெண்டுல்கர் (ரூ.80 கோடி), அஜய் தேவ்கன் (ரூ.75.5 கோடி) அடுத்த இடங்களுடன் முதல் 10 இடங்களைப் பிடித்துள்ளனர்.
டிசம்பர் 2 அன்று ராஜஸ்தானின் கோட்டா-சவாய் மாதோபூர் பிரிவில் நடத்தப்பட்ட சோதனை ஓட்டத்தின் போது, இந்தியாவின் முதல் தொடர்வண்டிப் பொறி அற்ற தொடர்வண்டி (Locomotiveless train) டிரெயின் 18 ஆனது மணிக்கு 180 கி.மீ. வேகம் வரை எட்டியது. மணிக்கு 200 கி.மீ., வேகம் வரை செல்லக் கூடியது இந்த அதிவிரைவு தொடர்வண்டி.
உள்நாட்டிலேயே வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட இந்தத் தொடர்வண்டி, செயல்பாட்டிற்கு வந்தபிறகு இதுவே நாட்டின் முதல் அதிவேக தொடர்வண்டியாக திகழும். 16 பெட்டிகளைக் கொண்ட, முற்றிலும் குளிர்சாதன வசதிகொண்ட இந்தத் தொடர்வண்டியானது ஜனவரி மாதம் முதல் பயணிகள் போக்குவரத்திற்கு அறிமுகம் செய்யப்படும் என்று ரயில்வே துறை கூறியுள்ளது.
2022ம் ஆண்டு ஜி20 மாநாட்டை இந்தியா நடத்துகிறது.

பராக் ஒபாமாவுக்கு முன்னர் அமெரிக்காவை ஆண்ட முன்னாள் அதிபர் ஜார்ஜ் டபிள்யூ. புஷ்ஷின் தந்தையும் அந்நாட்டின் மற்றொரு அதிபருமான ஜார்ஜ் ஹெர்பர்ட் வாக்கர் புஷ் (ஜார்ஜ் ஹெச்.டபிள்யூ. புஷ்) அந்நாட்டின் அதிபராக கடந்த 1989 முதல் 1993ம் ஆண்டுவரை பொறுப்பு வகித்தவர். அதற்கு முன்னதாக 1981 முதல் 1989 வரை 8 ஆண்டுகாலம் துணை அதிபராகவும் இவர் இருந்துள்ளார்.
இவரது மகனான ஜார்ஜ் டபிள்யூ. புஷ், அந்நாட்டின் அதிபராக 2001 முதல் 2008ம் ஆண்டுவரை இருமுறை அந்நாட்டின் அதிபராக பதவி வகித்துள்ளார்.
நிமோனியா எனப்படும் கபவாதம் சார்ந்த பிரச்சனைகளால் பாதிக்கப்படும், வயோதிகம் சார்ந்த காரணங்களால் வீட்டில் ஓய்வெடுத்தும் வந்த ஜார்ஜ் ஹெச்.டபிள்யூ. புஷ் கடந்த வெள்ளிக்கிழமை தனது 94வது வயதில் டெக்சாஸ் மாநிலத்தில் மரணம் அடைந்தார்.

எனவே இதனை 2 டிகிரி செல்சியசுக்கும் கீழே குறைக்க உலக நாடுகள் ஒருங்கிணைந்து இலக்கு நிர்ணயித்தன. இது தொடர்பான வரலாற்று சிறப்புமிக்க ஒப்பந்தம் மூன்று ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு பாரீசில் நடைபெற்ற மாநாட்டில் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டது.
இந்த நிலையில், பருவநிலை மாற்றத்தை கட்டுப்படுத்துவது தொடர்பாக பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடத்த போலந்தில் உள்ள கடோவைஸ் நகரில் உலக நாடுகளின் தலைவர்கள் ஒன்று கூடியுள்ளனர்.

India is the fourth highest emitter of carbon dioxide in the world, accounting for 7 per cent of global emissions in 2017, a study by the Global Carbon Project released recently.

To bring transparency to cash transactions, the Pune district court administration is starting an e-payment facility in the Shivajinager district and sessions court. This is the first time in India that practising lawyers and litigants in various cases will be able to make payments online.

The number 1 spot in the global Passport Index was achieved just as the UAE celebrates it 47th National Day and its achievements since 1971.
India has signed an agreement with Peru for co-operation and mutual assistance in Customs Matters. It provides a legal framework for the sharing of information and intelligence between the Customs authorities of the two countries.
It is also expected to facilitate trade and ensure efficient clearance of goods traded between the two sides.

ECONOMY
Fitch Ratings slashed India’s GDP growth forecast to 7.2 per cent for current fiscal, from 7.8 per cent projected in September, citing higher financing cost and reduced credit availability.
In its Global Economic Outlook released, Fitch estimated India’s GDP growth to be 7 per cent and 7.1 per cent in financial years 2019-20 and 2020-21 respectively.
AWARDS
Centenarian lexicographer G. Venkatasubbaiah has been chosen for the Sahitya Akademi’s Bhasha Samman for South (2017). The award has been given in recognition of his contribution in the field of classical and medieval literature.
The akademi also announced an award for Kannada writer K.G. Nagarajappa for his work on literary criticism, Anushreni-Yajamanike, for 2018.

Former senior Indian diplomat Preeti Saran has been elected to the Asia Pacific seat on the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) of the UN for 4 The appointment would be effective from January 1, 2019 and she would replace 3 time elected former Indian diplomat, Chandrashekhar Dasgupta.

The Government announced that Atul Sahai will be appointed as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of New India Assurance (NIA) for a five year period.

Kenya’s marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge and Colombian jumper Caterine Ibarguen were honoured as IAAF athletes of the year at athletics’ annual awards ceremony in Monaco.
Breaking an 82-year-old record, Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah became the fastest bowler in the world to reach the milestone of scalping 200 Test wickets.
Earlier, the record was held by former Australian leg-spinner Clarrie Grimmett who had scalped 200 wickets in 36 Tests. Shah, on the flip side, did the same in just 33 Test matches.
