• தமிழ்நாடு மாநில அரசானது, 2019ம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் 05ம் தேதி முதல் சென்னை சென்ட்ரல் இரயில் நிலையமானது, புரட்சித் தலைவர் டாக்டர். எம்.ஜி.ஆர் இரயில் நிலையமாக அழைக்கப்படுவதற்கான அதிகாரப்பூர்வ அறிக்கையை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.

 

 

 

இந்திய நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• வீட்டு வசதிக்கு நிதி உதவி வழங்கி வரும் இந்தியா புல்ஸ் ஹவுஸிங் பைனான்ஸ் (IPH) நிறுவனத்துடன் லட்சுமி விலாஸ் வங்கி இணைய உள்ளது.
  • இந்த இணைப்புக்கு பின் வங்கியின் பெயர் இந்தியா புல்ஸ் லட்சுமி விலாஸ் என பெயர் மாற்றம் செய்யப்படும்.

 

 

 

விளையாட்டு நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• ESPN அமைப்பின் சிறந்த விளையாட்டு வீரருக்கான ஆண்டு விருதானது ஆண்கள் பிரிவில் ‘நிராஜ் சோப்ரா’ விற்கு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
  • ESPN அமைப்பின் சிறந்த விளையாட்டு வீராங்கனைக்கான ஆண்டு விருதானது ‘பி.வி.சிந்து’விற்கு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

 

 

 

நியமனங்கள்

 

• முன்னாள் உலக வங்கி தலைவர் ஜிம் யொங் கிம் ஓய்வு பெற்றதைத் தொடர்ந்து புதிய உலக வங்கியின் தலைவராக டேவிட் மல்பாஸ் (David Malpass) என்பவர் நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.
  • இவர் உலக வங்கியின் 13வது தலைவராக நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார். இவர் மறு சீரமைப்பு மற்றும் மேம்பாட்டுக்கான சர்வதேச வங்கி (IBRD) மற்றும் சர்வதேச மேம்பாட்டு கூட்டமைப்பின் (IDA) தலைவராகவும் செயல்பட உள்ளார்.
  • குறிப்பு:
    உலக வங்கியானது 1944ம் ஆண்டு தொடங்கப்பட்டது. இதன் தலைமையகம் வாசிங்டன் DC–யில் உள்ளது.

 

 

 

• தகவல் தொழில்நுட்ப தொழில்துறை அமைப்பான நாஸ்காம் ஆனது 2019-20 ஆம் ஆண்டிற்காக தலைவராக டபிள்யூஎன்எஸ் (WNS) உலக சேவைகள் குழுவின் நிர்வாக அதிகாரியான கேசவ் முருகேஷை நியமித்துள்ளதாக அறிவித்துள்ளது.

  • 2019ம் ஆண்டிற்கான மையக்கருத்து: உலகளாவிய பாதுகாப்பு: எல்லோரும் எல்லா இடங்களிலும் (Universal Health coverage Everyone Everywhere)

  • உலக சுகாதார அமைப்பு 7 ஏப்ரல் 1948ம் ஆண்டு தொடங்கப்பட்டது.

• சர்வதேச விளையாட்டு மேம்பாடு மற்றும் அமைதி தினம் – ஏப்ரல் 6 (International Day of sports for Development and Peace)
  • சர்வதேச அளவில் விளையாட்டின் முக்கியத்துவம் மற்றும் மேம்பாடு குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வுக்காக ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஏப்ரல் 6 ஆம் தேதி சர்வதேச விளையாட்டு மேம்பாடு மற்றும் அமைதி தினம் கடைபிடிக்கப்படுகிறது.

NATIONAL NEWS

• The Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT- Delhi to collaborate in the field of  standardisation  and conformity assessment.
  • The MoU was signed by  IIT Delhi Professor V Ramgopal Rao and Director General of BIS Surina Rajan.

 

• The Tamil Nadu government has renamed the iconic Chennai Central Railway Station as Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR Central Railway Station. The station was renamed after the receipt of ‘no objection’ from the Union Home Ministry.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Chennai Central Railway Station would be renamed after late Chief Minister and AIADMK founder M.G. Ramachandran.

 

• On 5th April 2019, the 3-day National Cardiology Conference 2019 has been started at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of medical sciences in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
  • Vice President Venkaiah Naidu was the chief guest of this conference.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• The World Economic Forum (WEF) on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) 2019 kicked off in Jordan with over 1,000 participants from more than 50 countries. The 17th WEF meeting in the region called for united efforts to address the most pressing challenges of the area.
  • At the opening ceremony, King Abdullah II of Jordan said it takes a broad partnership to create a platform for economic growth.

 

ECONOMY

• On 5th April 2019, a new seller-funding programme named ‘Amazon Wings’ has been launched by Amazon Indiato help the small businesses and entrepreneurs to raise funds through the crowd funding platform.
  • With this initiative, the small businesses and entrepreneurs of this platform can raise the funds for their business expansion, product development, and foster innovation or community development.

 

SPORTS

• For the 4th consecutive time in a row the Northern Command based in Udhampur has won the 15th edition of General J J Singh air weapon championship.
  • Between 25th March to 3rd April the championship was conducted at Army Marksmanship Unit, Mhow.

 

AWARDS

• On 5th April 2019, Tata Steel bagged the ‘Global Slag Company of the Year’ award at the 14th Global SlagConference and Exhibition 2019, for its innovative practices in the development of new applications for Steel by-products (Slag).

 

BOOKS

• The genius of K L Saigal, his timeless compositions and the golden era of Indian cinema have been brought alive in a book on the legendary singer. Kundan: Saigal’s Life & Music, authored by documentary filmmaker and former DDG of Doordarshan Sharad Dutt, has been transcreated in English by Jyoti Sabharwal of Stellar Publishers.
  • Dutt won the National Award (Swarna Kamal for best book on cinema) in 2005 for the original book in Hindi.

• The National Handloom week has been observed from 7th April to 14th April this year.
  • The national handloom day observed on 7th August every year and last year in December 2018 the national handloom week was observed.
