• தேனி மாவட்ட மேகமலை வனஉயிரின சரணாலயத்தை புலிகள் சரணாலயமாகவும், இடுக்கி மாவட்டம் மூணாறு அருகில் உள்ள வனப்பகுதியை யானைகள் சரணாலயமாகவும் மாற்ற வனத்துறையானது நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றது.

 

 

இந்திய நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• இந்தியா முழுவதும் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் ஒரே அவசர உதவி எண்ணான 112 என்ற அமைப்பில் 20 மாநிலங்கள் மற்றும் யூனியன் பிரதேசங்கள் இணைந்துள்ளது.
  • 112 என்ற உதவி எண்ணானது காவல்துறை (100), தீயணைப்பு (101), பெண்கள் (1090) ஆகிய உதவி எண்களின் ஒருங்கிணைப்பாகும். இத்திட்டமானது “நிர்பயா” திட்டத்தின் கீழ் செயல்படுகிறது.

 

 

• ஸ்டார்ட்அப் பிளிங் (Startup Blink) அமைப்பு வெளியிட்டுள்ள உலக அளவிலான ஸ்டார்ட்அப் சுற்றுச்சூழல் பட்டியல் – 2019ல் (Global Startup Ecosystem – 2019) இந்தியாவானது 20 இடங்கள் முன்னேறி 17வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது.
  • இப்பட்டியலில் முதலிடத்தில் அமெரிக்காவும், இரண்டாமிடத்தில் ஐக்கிய ராஜ்ஜியமும் (UK) உள்ளது.

 

 

அறிவியல் & தொழில்நுட்பம்

 

• இந்தியக் கடற்படையானது மும்பையில் உள்ள மசகான் கப்பல் கட்டும் தளத்தில் ஏவுகணையை தாக்கி அழிக்கும் ஐ.என்.எஸ். இம்பால் என்ற போர்க் கப்பலை அறிமுகப்படுத்தியுள்ளது.
  • இக்கப்பலானது “திட்டம் 15-பி” (Project – 15P) என்பதன் கீழ் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட மூன்றாவது கப்பலாகும். இதற்கு முன் இத்திட்டத்தின் கீழ் INS – விசாகப்பட்டினம் மற்றும் INS -மர்மகோவ் ஆகியவை உருவாக்கப்பட்டது.

 

 

விருதுகள்

 

• 2019ம் ஆண்டிற்கான தேசிய அறிவுசார் சொத்துரிமைக்கான விருதானது (National Intellectual Property Award) கேரள வேளாண் பல்கலைக்கழகத்திற்கு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

• தேசிய குடிமைப் பணிகள் தினம் – ஏப்ரல் 21 (National Civil Services Day)
  • பொதுமக்களின் தேவைகளுக்காக தங்களை அர்பணித்துக் கொள்ளும் குடிமைப் பணியாளர்களை நினைவு கூறும் வகையில் இந்தியா முழுவதும் குடிமைப் பணிகள் தினம் ஏப்ரல் 21ல் அனுசரிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
  • 2006ம் ஆண்டில் முதலாவது குடிமைப் பணிகள் தினம் அனுசரிக்கப்பட்டது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

 

 

• உலக புவி நாள் – ஏப்ரல் 22 (World Earth Day)
  • புவியின் சுற்றுச்சூழல் முக்கியத்துவம் குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துவதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டு ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஏப்ரல் 22 அன்று உலக புவி நாள் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
  • 2019ம் ஆண்டின் புவிதின மையக்கருத்து: “நமது உயிரினங்களை பாதுகாப்போம்” (Protect Our Species) என்பதாகும்.

 

 

புத்தகங்கள்

 

• இந்திய அரசியலமைப்பில் உள்ள அனைத்துச் சட்டங்களும் எளிய மற்றும் கவிதை வடிவில் உள்ள “சம்விதான் காவியா” (Samvidhan Kavya) என்ற புத்தகத்தை எழுதிய “சுனில் குமார் கௌதம்” என்பவருக்கு பண்டிட் கோவிந்த் பலாப் பாணட் விருது வழங்கப்பட்டது.

NATIONAL NEWS

• Recently, Indian and the US navies conducted joint submarine hunting exercise near Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean in which India’s P8I Neptune Aircraft and US P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft along with the USS Spruance have participated.
  • The objective of this exercise is to lay the groundwork for coordinating maritime patrol and reconnaissance.

 

• India rose to 17th position in global startup ecosystem in 2019, up from the 37th spot in 2017, as per The country list was topped by the US, followed by the UK and Canada. Notably, India was ranked above 27th-placed China.
  • In cities ranking, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune also made it to the top 100.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has released the 2019 Index of Cancer Preparedness (ICP) in which out of 28 countries India is in 19th position from the top. The wide range of data indicates variation of cancer preparedness of countries i.e. methods to treat and prevent cancer.
  • Cancer in 2018 caused 9.6 million deaths worldwide making it the 2nd biggest killer.

 

ECONOMY

• India Post has partnered with IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to become a multi-service digital hub, modernize the delivery of mail and packages, enhance customer experience and launch innovative services.
  • TCS has implemented its Point of Sale (PoS) solution across 24,000 post offices with over 80,000 PoS terminals, making this among the largest such implementations in the world.

 

SPORTS

• In Football, the Services lifted the Santosh Trophy, beating Punjab 1-nil in the final at Ludhiana. In the first half, both the teams were goal-less. In the second half, Services scored the lone goal and held on till the final whistle.
  • In the semi-finals earlier, eight-time champions Punjab had defeated five-time winners Goa 2-1 to enter their 15th final. Services beat Karnataka 4-3 in the semis via a penalty shootout to book a place in the title clash for the 11th time.

 

APPOINTMENTS

• Former Cricketer Ravi Shastri appointed as Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) exclusive Corporate Ambassador to the Indian Business Community. As brand Ambassador Ravi Shastri may attract more Indian business leaders to set up or expand their operations in UAE through RAKEZ.
  • This first-of-its-kind approach is one of the many other initiatives that RAKEZ will be launching in the future to attract more investors from all over the world and boost the economic growth of Ras Al Khaimah.

 

AWARDS

• Malayalam film Bhayanakam (Fear) directed by Jayaraj won the best cinematography award at the Beijing International Film Festival. The cinematography was done by Nikihil S Praveen.
  • The film had also won the best cinematography award at the 65th National Film Awards. Both Jayaraj and lead actor, writer and journalist Renji Panicker who attended the festival received the award.

 

IMPORTANT DAYS

• The world celebrates Earth Day and Google has introduced an interactive doodle that celebrates the uniqueness, diversity and wonder of a small fraction of life forms found on earth. World Earth Day, which is celebrated on 22 April every year, now includes events in more than 193 countries.
  • For the year 2019, the Earth Day theme is ‘Protect our Species’
