மனிதனின் முதல் விண்வெளிப் பயணத்தை நினைவு கூறும் வகையில் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஏப்ரல் 12ம் நாள் மனித விண்வெளிப் பயணத்திற்கான சர்வதேச தினமாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
1961ம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் 12 அன்று சோவியத் யூனியனின் குடிமகனான லெட்டினென்ட் யூரிககாரின் என்பவர் முதல் முறையாக “வஸ்தோக்” விண்கலத்தில் பூமியின் சுற்றுப் பாதையில் பயணித்தார்.

India is joining hands with Japan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to implement 2 projects in Africa as it seeks to extend its footprint on the continent where strategic rival China has made deep inroads.
While India will build a cancer hospital in Kenya in collaboration with Japan, it will partner with the UAE to set up an information and communications technology (ICT)centre in Ethiopia
Assam’s most awaited festival the Rongali Bihu, also known as ‘Bohaag Bihu’ which marks the beginning of the new Assamese calendar year started. Assam celebrates major agricultural events as the festival of Bihu.
This festival is observed at almost the same time as Baisakhi in Punjab, Poila Baisakh in Bengal, Puthandu in Tamil Nadu and Vishu in Kerala.
The 8th edition of Home Expo India 2019 began at India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida. It covers sectors with maximum thrust and growth potential in home decor, furnishing, furniture, flooring and textiles. About 500 companies in permanent marts will be exhibiting their collection under these categories.
The three-day exhibition has been organized by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts.

UAE is set to host the world’s foremost Artificial Intelligence,AI Summit to empower global dialogue on the future of government, business and society. The inaugural ‘AI Everything’, AIE will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, between 30 April and 1 May.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) has discovered an Earth-sized planet, HD 21749b and a “sub-Neptune” world, revolving around the star, HD 21749. The star lies 53 light-years from Earth.
The research study has been published on 15th April, 2019 in ‘The Astrophysical Journal Letters’.
ECONOMY
United Nation Secretary General (UNSG) Antonio Guterres voiced concern that the UN owes India USD 38 million, the highest amount which has to be paid by any country for peacekeeping operations as of March 2019.
This dues to troops and police-contributing countries could increase to USD 588 million by June 2019 in the worst case scenario.

On 16th April 2019, International cricket council (ICC) cricket for good in partnership with UNICEF,launched #OneDay4Children, a tournament-wide campaign to help construct a better world for all child, at the World Cup

APPOINTMENTS
PwC India announced the appointment of Padmaja Alaganandan as the firm’s new Chief People Officer (CPO). She takes over the role from Jagjit Singh.
Padmaja has been associated with PwC for the last eight years. Earlier, she was the Technology sector lead for PwC’s Advisory Line of Service.
Punjab National Bank (PNB) has appointed Rajesh Kumar Yaduvanshi as the Executive Director of the bank.
Rajesh Kumar Yaduvanshi had joined PNB as a management trainee in 1985.
