உலக செய்திகள்
- ‘திங்க் 2018’ மாநாட்டில், ஐ.பி.எம் நிறுவனம் 1மி.மீ அளவீடு கொண்ட உலகின் மிகச் சிறிய கணினியை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.
- மியான்மர் நாட்டில் மான் மாகாணத்தில் வள்ளுவர் கோட்டம் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. மே மாதம் 1ம் தேதி இதன் திறப்பு விழா நடை பெறவுள்ளது.
- சவுதி அரேபிய அரசு, பாடத்திட்டத்தில் உள்ள தீவிர வாத கருத்துகள் மற்றும் இஸ்லாமிய இயக்கங்களின் பிரச்சாரங்கள் அடங்கிய புத்தகத்தை அனைத்து பள்ளி மற்றும் பல்கலைக்கழகங்களிலும் தடை செய்ய முடிவு செய்துள்ளது.

தேசிய செய்திகள்
- கேரள மாநிலத்தின் பெருமைக்குரிய பழமாக ‘பலாப்பழம்’ அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
- அதிகளவு பிச்சைக்காரர்கள் உள்ள மாநிலங்கள் மற்றும் யூனியன் பிரதேசங்கள் பட்டியலில், மேற்கு வங்க மாநிலம் முதலிடத்தில் உள்ளது. உத்திரப் பிரதேசம் மற்றும் பீகார் 2,3வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது. தமிழகம் 33வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது.
- முதுநிலை மருத்துவப் படிப்புகளில் மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகளுக்கான இடஒதுக்கீட்டை 3 சதவீதத்தில் இருந்து 5 சதவீதமாக அதிகரிப்பதற்கு மத்திய சுகாதாரத் துறை ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது.
- ஆந்திராவில் போலாவரம் திட்டத்தை செயல்படுத்த ரூ.1,400 கோடி நிதியை மத்திய அரசு ஒதுக்கியுள்ளது.
- ஏழைகளுக்கு ஆண்டுக்கு ரூ.5 லட்சம் மருத்துவ காப்பீடு வழங்கும் தேசிய சுகாதார பாதுகாப்பு திட்டத்திற்கு மத்திய அமைச்சரவை ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது.
- 2018-2019ம் நிதியாண்டுக்கான பொது பட்ஜெட்டில் பாதுகாப்புத் துறைக்கு முப்படைகளும் கோரியதை விட ரூ.1.21 லட்சம் கோடி நிதி குறைவாக ஒதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
- டெல்லி மாநில அரசு 2018-2019ம் ஆண்டுக்கான பட்ஜெட்டை சட்டமன்றத்தில் தாக்கல் செய்தது.
- இராணுவ வீரர்களின குழந்தைகள் கல்வி உதவித்தொகை பெற வருமான வரம்பு கிடையாது என்றும், மாதம் ரூ.10000க்கு மேல் வருமானமுள்ள வீரர்களின் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு கல்வி உதவித்தொகை வழங்கப்படும் என பாதுகாப்புத்துறை விளக்கமளித்துள்ளது.
- பாஜக அரசையும், பிரதமர் நரேந்திர மோடியையும் கலாய்ப்பது போன்ற தவறான செய்திகள் பேஸ்புக்கில் வெளியிடப்பட்டால், சமூக வலைதளமான பேஸ்புக் சேவை முடக்கப்படும் என்று மத்திய அரசு எச்சரித்துள்ளது.

- ஜுனியர் ஐ.எஸ்.எஸ்.எஃப் உலக கோப்பை துப்பாக்கி சுடுதல் போட்டியில் பெண்களுக்கான 10மீ ரைஃபிள் பிரிவில், இந்திய வீராங்கனை ‘இளவேனில் வாலறிவன்’(தமிழகம்) தங்கப் பதக்கம் வென்றார்.
- இந்த அண்டு முதல்(2018), 11வது ஐபிஎல் சீசனில் ‘டி.ஆர்.எஸ் முறை’(நடுவரின் தீர்ப்பை எதிர்த்து அப்பீல் செய்யும் முறை) அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

- உலகிலேயே அதிவேகமாகச் செல்லக்கூடிய ஏவுகணை என அழைக்கப்படும் ‘பிரமோஸ்’ ஏவுகணை சோதனை, வெற்றியில் முடிந்தது என்று இஸ்ரோ தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
- வியாழன் கோளில் ஏற்படும் சிவப்பு சூறாவளி அளவு குறைந்து கொண்டே வருகிறது என நாசா தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
- ஐ.ஆர்.என்.எஸ்.எஸ்.1-ஐ என்ற செயற்கைகோளை சுமந்து செல்லும் பி.எஸ்.எல்.வி.சி-41 ராக்கெட் மார்ச் 29 தேதி விண்ணில் ஏவப்படும் என்று இஸ்ரோ அறிவித்துள்ளது.

- The Punjab government decided to impose a permanent ban on hookah bars in the stateinstead of issuing temporary orders against them every two months. - Jackfruit has attained a respected status with the state government declaring it as theofficial fruit of Kerala. Kerala has been producing around 30 to 60 crore jackfruits every year.
- The NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) pavilion at 105th Indian Science Congresshas been adjudged as Best Design Pavilion. The award was conferred by Najma Heptulla, Governor of Manipur.
- Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)has introduced billing through Point of Sale (POS) hand-held machines in trains to check overcharging by vendors.
- German President Frank-Walter Steinmeierwill arrive in New Delhi on a five-day visit to India. This will be his first visit to India as the President of Germany. He will visit Varanasi.
- The German President is also scheduled to attend a business event in New Delhi and visit to Chennai.
- The World Water Dayis observed on 22 March every year, to raise awareness about the importance of water. The theme this year is, ‘Nature for Water’ – exploring nature-based solutions to the water challenges the world faces in the 21st century.
- The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship have signed MoU to conduct skill development training programmes for agriculture and allied sector.These skill development training programmes will be conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVKs).

Recognitions
- Austria’s capital city Viennahas been rated the world’s most liveable city for the ninth consecutive year by Mercer in its annual Quality of Living survey.
- Hyderabad and Punehave been rated India’s most liveable cities as they have tied for the 142nd place in Mercer’s global Quality of Living survey.
- A 24,583-metre-long cave that was discovered in 2016 in Meghalaya has been found to be the world’s longest sandstone caveby the Meghalaya Adventurers’ Association. Called Krem Puri, it is also the second largest cave in India. It is over 6,000 metres longer than the current world record-holder for the longest sandstone cave, the Cueva Del Saman in Zulia, Venezuela.

Obituary
- Renowned Hindi poet and critic Kedarnath Singh passed away at the age of 83. Prof. Singh was a recipient of the Jnanapeeth award in 2013.He won the Sahitya Akademi award in 1989 for his poetry collection Akaal Mein Saras.

- Canadian mathematician Robert Langlands won the prestigious Abel Prizefor developing a programme connecting representation theory to number theory.
