  • முன்னாள் முதல்வர் காமராஜர் பிறந்த நாளை ஜூலை 15 கல்வி வளர்ச்சி நாளாகக் கொண்டாட தமிழக கல்வித்துறை உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது.

• புற்றுநோய் செல்களை அழிக்கக்கூடிய புதிய மூலக்கூறை சத்தீஸ்கர் மாநிலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த ஆராய்ச்சியாளர் மம்தா திரிபாதி என்பவர் கண்டுபிடித்துள்ளார்.

 

 

• “தரோகர் பவான் எனப் பெயரிடப்பட்டுள்ள இந்திய தொல்லியல் துறையின் (ASI) தலைமையகத்தை புதுடெல்லியில் இந்தியப் பிரதமரால் தொடங்கி வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

• பிரான்ஸ் நாட்டின் 229வது தேசிய தினம் புதுச்சேரியில் உற்சாகமாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.

  • ஜூலை 14, 1789 – பிரெஞ்சு புரட்சி தொடங்கிய நாள் இந்த நாளை நினைவு கூர்வதற்காக பிரான்ஸ் நாட்டு மக்கள் ஜூலை 14-ஐ தேசிய தினமாக கொண்டாடி வருகின்றனர்.

• நியூசிலாந்து ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் உலகின் முதல் முப்பரிமான வண்ண எக்ஸ்ரே சோதனையை (3D Colour X-ray) மனிதர்களிடத்தில் பரிசோதித்துள்ளனர்.

• 2018ம் ஆண்டிற்கான விம்பிள்டன் மகளிர் ஒற்றையர் டென்னிஸ் போட்டியில் ஜெர்மனியைச் சேர்ந்த “ஏஞ்சலிக்கா கெர்பர்” (Angelique Kerber) அமெரிக்காவின் செரினா வில்லியம்சை வீழ்த்தி சாம்பியன் பட்டத்தை வென்றுள்ளார்.

• நாட்டில் இறக்குமதி செய்யப்படும் பொருட்களை குறைக்குவும், எந்தெந்த பொருட்களை உள்நாட்டிலேயே தயாரிக்க முடியும் என்பதை பற்றி ஆராயவும் அமைச்சரவை செயலர் “பி.கே.சின்ஹா” (P.K. Sinha) தலைமையில் குழு ஒன்றை இந்திய அரசு அமைத்துள்ளது.

National News

• India has become the Vice-Chair (Regional Head) of the Asia Pacific Region of World Customs Organisation (WCO) for a period of two years (from July 2018 to June 2020). The underlying Theme of the Inaugural Ceremony is “Customs – Fostering Trade Facilitation”.
• NOTE
  • The WCO has divided its Membership into six Regions.
  • World Customs Organization Headquarters in Brussels,
  • Kunio Mikuriya (Japan) is the Secretary-General of WCO.

 

• The government has set up a high-level task force under the chairmanship of Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha to identify various items and policy interventions to reduce dependence on import.

 

• The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation launches the Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018 (SSG 2018) in the Delhi.
  • The objective of SSG 2018 is to undertake a ranking of states and districts on the basis of their performance attained on key quantitative and qualitative SBM-G parameters.

 

• The Haryana Education Department has launched ‘I am not afraid of English’ initiative to promote English language right from Class 1 in the state’s primary schools.
  • The initiative is aimed at capacity building of teachers to enable them to help the students to learn, read, write and speak English.

 

• Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid foundation stone for the state’s first cultural university at Majuli to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore.
  • “The Cultural University would be a great place for learning about the state’s vivid culture,” he said.

 

• With the launch of cost-effective innovative water project, Bihar will soon provide the cheapest drinking water in the world. The first of such a water project was launched in Bihar’s Darbhanga district, by Sulabh International, an organisation that introduced the concept of ‘Sulabh Sauchalya’ in the country.
  • The ‘Sulabh Jal’ project converts contaminated pond and river water into safe drinking water.

International News

• A new integrated state-of-the-art integrated Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) was jointly inaugurated by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and his Bangladeshi counterpart Asaduzzaman Khan at Dhaka’s Jamuna Future Park.

• Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki has been given the additional charge of Himachal Pradesh by President Ram Nath Kovind.

Awards

• India’s Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) project has won the World Bank’s internal award for exceptional performance in achieving many development goals.

 

• The ICZM project is among the eight projects awarded, selected out of 42 final nominations received from the World Bank Task Teams in the South Asian Countries.

 

Sports

• Former world number one Angelique Kerber defeated seven-time champion Serena Williams in the women’s singles final to clinch her first-ever Wimbledon title. Angelique Kerber hails from Germany.
