- விவசாயிகள் பயன்பெரும் வகையில் பாரம்பரிய விதை திருவிழா, பெரம்பலூரில் நடைபெற்றது.
- இதில், மரபு வகை நெல் விதை, நாட்டு காய்கறி விதைகள் மற்றும் விவசாயத்தை வளர்க்கும் புத்தகங்கள் எனப் பல இடம்பெற்றன.

- உலக மக்களிடையே சமஸ்கிருத மொழியை ஊக்குவிக்கவும் பாதுகாக்கவும், 17வது உலக சமஸ்கிருத மாநாடு ஜூலை 9 முதல் ஜூலை 13 வரை கனடாவில் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. இம் மாநாட்டை இந்தியாவின் மனிதவள மேம்பாட்டு அமைச்சகம் தலைமையேற்று நடத்துகிறது.

- துருக்கியில் உள்ள மெர்சின் நகரில், எப்ஐஜி (FIG) ஆர்டிஸ்டிக் ஜிம்னாஸ்டிக்ஸ் உலகக்கோப்பை போட்டியில் இந்திய வீராங்கனை தீபா – கர்மார் தங்கம் வென்றுள்ளார்.

இந்திய நிகழ்வுகள்
- 67வது வடகிழக்கு கவுன்சில் கூட்டம் மேகாலயா மாநிலம் ஷல்லாங்கில் நடைபெற்றது.
- இக்கூட்டமானது மத்திய உள்துறை அமைச்சர் ராஜ் நாத் சிங் தலைமையில் நடைபெற்றது.
- திரிபுரா மாநிலத்தில் வாழும் “ப்ரூ” (Bru) இன்த்தவர்கள் தங்களது பூர்விகமான மிசோரம் மாநிலத்திற்கு திரும்புவதற்கான “சொந்த மண்ணிற்கு திரும்புதல் ஒப்பந்தம்” (Repatriation Agreement) இந்திய அரசு, மிசோரம் மாநில அரசு மற்றும் திரிபுரா மாநிலம் அரசுகளுக்கிடையே கையெழுத்திடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
- இந்தியாவில் 2வது திருநங்கை வழக்கறிஞராக தூத்துக்குடியைச் சேர்ந்த எஸ்.விஜி என்பவர் தமிழ்நாடு மற்றும் புதுச்சேரி பார் கவுன்சிலில் பதிவு செய்துள்ளர்.

NATIONAL NEWS
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Moon Jae-in visited Noida and inaugurated the New Mobile Manufacturing Plant of Samsung at Noida. Notably, it will be the world’s largest mobile factory.
- South Korean President Moon Jae-in arrived in New Delhi evening on a four-day visit to India. He is being accompanied by First Lady Kim Jung-sook on his maiden visit to the nation.
- Under PMAY (U) so far more than 51 Lakhs dwelling units have been sanctioned against the validated demand of 1 crore in last 3 years of implementation.
- The Government of India is committed to provide “Housing for All” by the end of the Mission period-2022.
INTERNATIONAL NEWS
- Human Resource Development Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar will inaugurate the 17th World Sanskrit Conference to be held at Vancouver, Canada from 9th July to 13th July, 2018.
- The World Sanskrit Conference is being held in various countries across the globe once in every three years and so far it has been held thrice in India.
APPOINTMENTS
- Squash player Dipika Pallikal has been appointed as Asia’s representative in the prestigious Athletes Advisory Commission of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF).
- The appointment was made by the CGF.
- The CGF Athletes Advisory Commission was proposed in August 2017.
- Each continent is represented by one athlete in CGFAAC.
- Michael Ondaatje’s ‘The English Patient’ was named the greatest-ever winner of the Man Booker Prize at an event celebrating five decades of the prestigious literary award.
- ‘The English Patient’ won the Booker in 1992 and was made into a 1996 movie starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche that won nine Academy Awards.
SPORTS
- Returning to action after a long lay-off of nearly two years due to injury, India’s premier gymnast Dipa Karmakar clinched the gold medal in the vault event of FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup at Mersin, Turkey.
- The 24-year-old from Tripura, who had finished fourth in vault event in the 2016 Rio Olympics, scored 14.150 to win gold here.
- This is Dipa’s first medal in a World Challenge Cup.
- Indian lifter Jhili Dalabehera has bagged the bronze medal in the 2018 IWF Junior World Weightlifting Championships at Tashkent. She lifted 167 kg in the 48 kg category to finish third on the podium.
