உலக செய்திகள்

 

 

• உலகிலேயே முதல் முறையாக ரஷ்யாவில் உள்ள அணு உலை ஒன்றுக்கு, பாதுகாப்புடன் கட்டமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள அணுஉலை என்ற சர்வதேச விருது வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது

• உலக சுகாதார அமைப்பு, உலகில் மிகவும் மாசுபட்ட நகரங்களின் பட்டியலை வெளியிட்டது. இதில் ஷபோல்(ஈரான்) நகரம் முதலிடத்தில் உள்ளது. இந்தியா 2வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது

 

• குஜராத் ஜாம்நகரில் நடைபெற்ற போர் விமானப் பயிற்சியில், ‘மிக்-21 பைசன்’ என்ற போர் விமானத்தை ‘அவனி சதுர்வேதி’ தனியாக இயக்கியுள்ளார். ‘நாட்டில் போர் விமானத்தை தனியாக இயக்கிய முதல் பெண்’ என்ற சாதனையை படைத்துள்ளார்

National News

• Israeli Ambassador Mr Daniel Carmon informed that a Centre for Agriculture, with collaboration of Israeli expertise, is going to be inaugurated in Mizoram on 7th March this year.
  • This will be the first such centre in the North East region of India that is being established with Israeli collaboration, he added.

 

• The CPI(M)-led Left Front government in Kerala has made vaccination compulsory for school admissions from next academic year onwards.
  • Parents will have to show details of shots given to children at the time of enrolment in schools.
  • Earlier the government had constituted a 17-member experts panel headed by Dr E Ekbal to chalk out a comprehensive health policy.

 

• .The Gandhi Nagar railway station in Jaipur, became the country’s first major railway station to be fully-managed by women.
  • Gandhi Nagar is important railway station in Jaipur situated on the Jaipur-Delhi rail route with more than 50 trains passing through the station out of which 25 halting at the station.

 

• Agriculture Minister affairs Radha Mohan Singh launched six new features in the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM)platform to make it more user-friendly. The six new features of e-NAM platform includes-
  • MIS dashboard for better analysis,
  • BHIM payment facility by traders,
  • Mobile payment facility by traders,
  • Enhanced features on mobile app such as gate entry and payment through mobile,
  • Integration of farmer’s database, and
  • e-Learning module.

 

• The Telangana Government signed an MOU with Taoyuan City of Taiwan for better technology partnership in the state. The agreement was signed after the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) 2018 in Hyderabad..

 

• Uttar Pradesh’s Khadi and Village Industries Board signed a pact with Amazon Indiato facilitate online selling of Khadi products. As part of a MoU, Amazon India will educate, train and enable rural khadi artisans to directly sell their products to in customers across the country under the brand of UP Khadi.

 

• US Marines in Thailand for the Cobra Gold training exercisetook part in one of the wildest parts of the drills – drinking cobra blood. This was the 37th edition of the exercise. Cobra Gold is an annual military exercise for Marines and one of the largest in the Indo-Pacific region.

 

• Government has constituted Empowered expert committee to select 20 institution of eminence from among 104 institutions that have applied for the status. The committee will be headed by former chief election commissioner N Gopalaswami.

 

• At the UP Investors Summit, the government launched a mobile application – e-Saathi. Through the app, people will be able to avail public services sitting at home.

 

International News

• According to United Nations (UN), India is contributing $1 million for relief efforts in the Pacific Ocean Kingdom of Tonga that was devastated by Cyclone Gita last week. Of that $500,000 would be given as immediate relief to Tonga and another $500,000 would be allocated to it from the India-UN Development Partnership Fund (I-UNDPF).

• A life-like avatar called Cora is being put through her paces by Royal Bank of Scotland, helping customers with basic queries and giving its digital banking drive a more human face.
  • RBS, which recently axed a quarter of its branches and has announced thousands of job cuts in the past year alone as it reduces costs, will only deploy Cora to Nat West customers if the bank’s female avatar passes her probation period.

 

• Retirement fund body Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has reduced interest rate on deposits to 8.55% for 2017-18 following a general decline in interest rates.
  • The decision was taken by EPFO’s central board of trustees at its 220th board meeting, labour Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar said.
  • EPFO had announced an interest rate of 8.65% for 2016-17 and 8.8% in 2015-16.

 

• Google combined its two payment services, Google Wallet and Android Pay, into a new app called Google Pay. The platform includes features like the ability to pay at checkout counters with a smart phone or pay for public

• Capital First announced that the regulator National Housing Bank (NHB)approved the merger of the company along with Capital Home Finance and Capital First Securities Limited with IDFC Bank. The amalgamation is subject to the receipt of approval from the Reserve Bank of India and other statutory and regulatory approvals.

 

• Venezuela becomes the first sovereign country to officially launch its first crypto currency called petro backed by oil gas, gold and diamond reserves to circumvent US led financial sanctions.

 

Science and Technology

• India successfully conducted a night trial of its indigenously developed nuclear capable
  • Prithvi-II missilewith a strike range of 350 km, from a test range in Odisha.
    The surface-to-surface missile was test-fired from a mobile launcher from launch complex-3 of theIntegrated Test Range at Chandipur, Odisha. The perfect test launch came after the successful trial of the Agni-5 missile.

 

Awards and Recognition

• Flying officer Avani Chaturvediscripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to fly a fighter aircraft solo. She flew a MiG-21 bison in her first solo flight from Jamnagar base of Indian Air Force (IAF) in Gujarat.

 

• India ranked81st in the global corruption perception index for 2017, released by Transparency International, which named the country among the “worst offenders” in terms of graft and press freedom in the Asia Pacific region.

 

• Crime drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouriwon maximum prizes at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards 2018, which took place at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK.
