• மாநிலங்களுக்கிடையேயான நதி நீர் பிரச்சனையை தீர்க்கவும், குடிநீர் மற்றும் பாசனத் தேவைகளுக்கு தண்ணீர் பெறுவதற்காகவும், கர்நாடகத்தின் நந்தி துர்கம் பகுதியில் உற்பத்தியாகும் பாலாறு மற்றும் தென்பெண்ணையாறு இணைப்புத் திட்டத்திற்கும் மத்திய நீர்வள ஆணையம் ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது.
  • தமிழ் நாட்டில் தாமிரபரணி – கருமேனியாறு நம்பியாறு நதிகள் இணைப்பு திட்டம் செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

 

 

• இந்தியாவின் மிகப் பெரிய பொதுத்துறை போக்குவரத்து நிறுவனமான இரயில்வேயின் வரலாற்றை அனைவருக்கும் தெரிவிக்கும் நோக்கில் 72வது சுதந்திர தினம் (ஆகஸ்ட் 15) முதல், கோவை, ஈரோடு, டெல்லி உள்பட 22 இரயில் நிலையங்களில் டிஜிட்டல் அருங்காட்சியகம் அமைக்கப்பட உள்ளது.

• முதன் முறையாக இந்தியாவில் மூன்று நீர் விமான தளங்களை(water Aerodromes)  நிறுவ மத்திய விமானத்துறை அமைச்சகம் ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது.
  • அமைய உள்ள இடங்கள் 
    1. சிலிக்கா ஏரி  – ஒடிசா
    2. சர்தார் சரோவர் அணை – குஜராத் 
    3. சமர்மதி ஆறு – குஜராத் 

 

• இந்தியாவில் மக்கள் வாழ்வதற்கு உகந்த நகரங்களின் பட்டியலை மத்திய வீட்டுவசதி மற்றும் நகர்புற அமைச்சகமானது வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.
  • பொருளாதாரம், சமூகம், உள்கட்டமைப்பு, ஆட்சிமுறை போன்ற நான்கு காரணிகளை அளவுகோலாகக் கொண்ட இந்தப் பட்டியலில் மாகாராஷ்டிரா மாநிலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த நகரங்கள் முதல் மூன்று இடங்களைப் பெற்றுள்ளது.
  • புனே முதலிடத்தையும், நவி மும்பை 2வது இடத்தையும், கிரேட்டர் மும்பை 3வது இடத்தையும் பிடித்துள்ளது.
  • தமிழகத்தைப் பொறுத்தவரை சென்னை நகரமானது 14வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது.

 

• காகத்யா என்ற திட்டத்தின் தாக்கம் குறித்து ஆராய்வை மேற்கொள்ள தெலுங்கானா மாநிலம் மித வெப்ப மண்டல பகுதிகளுக்கான சர்வதேச ஆராய்ச்சி பயிர்கள் நிறுவனத்துடன் (ICRISAT – International Crops Research Institute for the Semi – Arid Tropics) புரிந்துணர்வு ஒப்பந்தம் கையெழுத்தாகியுள்ளது. 
• குறிப்பு:
  • காகத்யா திட்டம் என்பது தெலுங்கானா மாநிலத்தில் உள்ள அனைத்து சிறு பாசன தொட்டிகள் மற்றும் ஏரிகள் ஆகியவற்றை மறுசீரமைப்புச் செய்யும் திட்டமாகும்.

 

 

• சட்டத்துறை நடவடிக்கைகளில் ஒழுக்கம், அமைதி, உண்மை, அன்பு மற்றும் அகிம்சை உள்ளிட்ட மனித மதிப்பீடுகளை ஒருங்கிணைக்க, “மனித மதிப்பீடகளும் சட்டத்துறையும்” (Human values and Legal world)  என்ற பெயரிலான தலைமையில் ஆந்திர மாநிலம் புட்டபர்த்தியில் நடைபெற்றுள்ளது.
  • சர்வதேச நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி தல்வீர் பண்டாசி முன்னிலை வகித்தார்.

 

• சமையில் எண்ணெயை சேரித்தல் அதனை பயோடீசலாக மாற்றும், RUCO (Repurpose Used Cooking Oil)  (பயன்படுத்திய சமையல் எண்ணெய்) என்னும் முன்மாதிரி திட்டத்தை உணவு பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் தர நிர்ணய ஆணையம் (FSSAI – Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) துவக்கியுள்ளது.

• • 2018ம் ஆண்டிற்கான நேபாள – இந்தியா இலக்கிய திருவிழா (Nepal – India Literature Festival – 2018)  நேபாள் நாட்டின் ‘பிர்குன்ஜ்’ நகரில் நடைபெறவுள்ளது.

• நைஜீரியா ஓபன் டேபிள் டென்னிஸ் சாலஞ்சர் தொடரில் சீனாவின் ஷாவாபோ வாங் இந்தியாவின் ரோனித் பன்ஜாவை வீழ்த்தி தங்கப்பதக்கம் வென்றுள்ளது.

NATIONAL NEWS

 

• The Delhi Police inducted an all-woman Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, consisting of 36 commandos – the first ever by any police force in India – for anti-terrorist operations. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced the team.

 

• On the eve of Independence Day, the Rajasthan government will organise a human chain along the 650-km-long Pakistan border. It will be conducted under a programme, ”Shahadat ko Salam.”

 

• Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri released the ‘Ease of Living Index 2018’ to assess the livability conditions in relation to global and national benchmarks.
  • Total 111 cities ranked under the index, Pune has been ranked first while Navi Mumbai has surfaced as the second preferred spot in terms of ‘liveability’.
  • Among other Metro cities, Chennai ranked 14th and Delhi ranked 65th .

 

• To enhance air connectivity through amphibian planes, the Civil Aviation Ministry has approved a proposal for setting up of water aerodromes in the country.
  • In the first phase the places chosen for the development of such facilities are: Chilika Lake in Odisha, Sardar Sarovar Dam and Sabarmati River Front in Gujarat.

 

• National Wildlife Genetic Resource Bank (NWGRB) was inaugurated at Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology’s (CCMB) Laboratory of Conservation of Endangered Species (LaCONES) facility in Hyderabad, Telangana.
  • It is India’s first genetic resource bank where the genetic material will be stored for posterity which will further the cause of conservation of endangered and protected animals.

 

• Chhattisgarh has become the first state in India to provide Right to Skills’ Development to the youth. This was said by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh after he flagged off 15 Skill Chariots to launch the government’s ‘Skills on Wheels’ project in Chhattisgarh.

 

• The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh announced that Jammu will be the first city in North India to get a full-fledged Space Technology Research Centre.

 

• Railway minister Piyush Goyal announced that Jodhpur in Rajasthan topped in the cleanest railway station in the recent ranking of the ‘Swach Rail’. The survey was conducted by the Quality Council of India (QCI) on the 407 major railway stations (75 A1 category and 332 A category stations).

 

APPOINTMENTS

 

• Justice Kalpesh Satyendra Jhaveri has been appointed as the 30th new Chief Justice of Orissa High Court (HC). He will succeed Chief Justice Vineet Saran, who has been elevated to the Supreme Court. He has earlier been a Gujarat HC Judge and a Rajasthan HC judge.

 

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

 

• The Space Commission has approved ISRO’s proposal of naming the Chandrayaan-2 lander ‘Vikram’ after Vikram Sarabhai, the father of Indian space programme. Apart from this, as part of the centenary celebrations of Vikram Sarabhai next year, It has planned a series of lectures at the national and international level.

 

ECONOMY

 

• The Industrial production in India expanded at a five-month high in June with all three major sectors —manufacturing, mining and electricity — contributing to the recovery. The growth as measured by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) stood at 7% in June compared with 3.9% in May, according to data released by the statistics office.

 

SPORTS

 

• Indian golfer Viraj Madappa became the youngest Indian to win on the Asian Tour, as he won his first title on the Asian Tour at Take Solutions Masters in Bengaluru.

 

• 17-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal clinched his fourth Canadian Masters 1000 title at the Rogers Cup in Toronto. He defeated Greek teenager Stefanos Tsitsipas.
