• பெண்களுக்கு அதிக முக்கியத்துவம் அளித்து, அவர்களை மேம்படுத்தும் விதமாக சென்னை மெட்ரோ வழித்தடத்தில் உள்ள ஷெனாய் நகர், கோயம்பேடு ஆகிய இரண்டு மெட்ரோ இரயில் நிலையங்கள் முழுக்க முழுக்க பெண்களால் நிர்வகிக்கப்படுகின்றன.

 

 

• சென்னை தரமணியில் உள்ள எம்.எஸ். சுவாமிநாதன் ஆராய்ச்சி அறக்கட்டளை சார்பில், ‘ஊட்டச் சத்துக்கான வேளாண் முறை” என்ற தலைப்பில் தேசிய அளவிலான கருத்தரங்கு துணை குடியரசுத் தலைவர் வெங்கையா நாயுடு தலைமையில் நடைபெற்றது.

 

 

இந்திய நிகழ்வுகள்

 

• ராஜஸ்தான் மாநிலம் ஜெய்ப்பூரின் கோட்டை, மதில் சுவர்கள் மிகுந்த நகரம் என இந்தியாவின் அடுத்த உலக பாரம்பரிய சின்னமாக யுனெஸ்கோ அங்கீகாரம் பெற்றதாக அறிவிக்கப்படவுள்ளது.
  • இந்தியாவில் ஏற்கெனவே 37 இடங்கள் உலக பாரம்பரிய சின்னங்களாக அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.
• யுனெஸ்கோ
  • ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் அவையில் முக்கிய துணை நிறுவனங்களில் ஒன்று. 1945ம் ஆண்டு நவம்பர் 16ம் தேதி இந்நிறுவனம் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது.
  • இதன் உறுப்பு நாடுகளுக்கிடையே கல்வி, அறிவியல், பண்பாடு மற்றும், தொடர்புத் துறைகளில் ஒத்துழைப்பை ஊக்குவித்து வருகிறது.

 

 

•  நாட்டில் முதன் முறையாக பழங்குடியின மக்களின் மொழி, பாலின விகிதம், கல்வியறிவு, கலை மற்றும் கலாச்சாரம் போன்றவை அடங்கிய ‘பழங்குடியின வரைபடத்தை’ ஒடிஷா மாநில அரசு வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.
•  குறிப்பு
  • நாட்டில் அதிக பழங்குடியின மக்களை கொண்ட மாநிலங்களில் மத்தியப் பிரதேசத்தை அடுத்து ஒடிஷா 2வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

• இந்தியா – தென்னாப்பிரிக்கா இடையே கையெழுத்தான ஒப்பந்தங்கள்
  வேளாண் ஆராய்ச்சி மற்றும்
  • கல்வித்துறையில் ஒத்துழைப்பு
  • கைவினை தொழில்கள் திறனில் சிறப்புத் தகுதி பெறுவதற்கான ‘காந்தி, மண்டேலா’ மையம் அமைப்பதற்கான ஒப்பந்தம்.
  • விண்வெளியை அமைதி நோக்கங்களுக்காக இந்திய விண்வெளி ஆய்வு நிறுவனத்திற்கும் தென்னாப்பிரிக்க தேசிய விண்வெளி முகமைக்கும் இடையே புரிந்துணர்வு ஒப்பந்தம்.

• அமெரிக்காவில் நடைபெற்ற அட்லாண்டா ஓபன் டென்னிஸ் போட்டியின் ஆடவர் ஒற்றையர் பிரிவில் ஜான் இஸ்னர் (அமெரிக்கா) என்பவர் சக நாட்ட வீரர் ரையான் ஹாரிசனை வென்று சாம்பியன் பட்டத்தைப் பெற்றுள்ளார்.

 

• ஆசிய கண்டத்தின் மிகப் பெரிய விளையாட்டு திருவிழாவான ‘ஆசிய விளையாட்டு போட்டிகள் – 2018’ ஆனது இந்தோனேஷியாவின் தலைநகர் ஜகர்த்தா மற்றும் தென் சுமத்ரா தலைநகர் பாலேம்பங்கில் ஆகஸ்ட் 18ம் தேதி முதல் நடைபெறவிருக்கிறது.
  • ஆசிய விளையாட்டுப் போட்டிகள் இரண்டு நகரங்களில் நடைபெறுவது இதுவே முதல் முறை.

 

 

அறிவியல் & தொழில்நுட்பம்

 

• குவாண்டம் கொள்கை பற்றிய ஆய்வை மேற்கொள்வதற்காக உலகில் அதிவேகமாக சுழலும் கருவியை மூன்று பல்கலைக்கழக (பர்டியூ, பெக்கிங், ஷிங்குவா) ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் இணைந்து கண்டுபிடித்துள்ளனர்.
  • இக்கருவியின் சுழலி ஒரு நிமிடத்தில் சுமார் 6000 கோடி முறை சுழலும் படி வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

ENGLISH CURRENT AFFAIRS 

 

NATIONAL NEWS

• Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG), Oil & Gas CPSEs and its offices celebrated Swachhta Pakhwada from 1st to 15th July, 2018.
  • The theme of MoPNG initiatives in this Pakhwada were “Innovation” and “Sustainability”.
  • About Swachata Pakhwada:
  • Launched in April 2016.
  • It started with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhata by engaging GOI Ministries/Departments in their jurisdictions.

 

• To promote exploration in the deep ocean to meet energy requirements of India, the Union Ministry of Earth Science unveiled a blueprint of Deep Ocean Mission (DOM) to explore Deep Ocean.

 

• The IT ministry launched a desktop software e-Aksharayan in a conference for Indian Languages Technology Industry ‘Bhashantara’, in New Delhi. The objective is to enable editing and printing of text in scanned documents. The software e-Aksharayan was launched in 7 Indian languages.

 

• National Health Agency (NHA) under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the apex body for the implementation of Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM), and Common Service Centres (CSC) scheme under the Digital India Programme, have signed an MoU to provide information and eligibility validation services to beneficiaries, especially in remote areas.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

• The US has elevated India’s status in the export control regime and designated it as a Strategic Trade Authorization-1 (STA-1) country.
  • Currently there are 36 countries on STA-1 list.
  • India is the only South Asian country to be on the list.
  • Other Asian countries designated as STA-1 are Japan and South Korea.

 

• India has jumped 22 places to 96th rank to break into the top 100 of the United Nation’s E-Government Development Index (EGDI) 2018. Denmark, with an index value of9150, topped the 2018 E-Government Development Survey. The E-Government survey is released by the United Nations in every two years. The 2018 edition was titled as ‘Gearing E-Government to Support Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies’.

 

• Defence acquisitions council (DAC), chaired by India’s Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, approved the acquisition of the National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System-II (NASAMS-II) worth around $1 billion.

ECONOMY

• According to Nomura, GDP growth to peak to 7.8% in April-June quarter and then moderate to 2 per cent in the second half of 2018. The GDP growth was at 7.7 per cent in January-March quarter 2018.

AWARDS

• Gopalkrishna Gandhi has been chosen for the 24th Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award for his contribution in promoting communal harmony, peace and goodwill.
  • Gopalkrishna Gandhi is a former governor of West Bengal. He will be presented with this award at an event on 20th August 2018 at Jawahar Bhawan in Delhi.

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

• China successfully launched Gaofen-11 satellite, an optical remote sensing satellite, as part of its high-resolution Earth observation project.
  • The Gaofen-11 satellite was launched on a Long March 4B rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern Shanxi Province, China.

 

 SPORTS

• Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won a gold medal in the Savo Games in Lapinlahti, Finland. Neeraj Chopra made a throw of 69 meters and won the gold medal.

 

• Dustin Johnson won the 2018 RBC Canadian Open at the Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville in Canada. Dustin Johnson shot a 6-under par 66 and won his first RBC Canadian Open at 23-under par. He is currently in world number one position.
